Through recent discussions engaging social media and technology experts, innovation leaders and entrepreneurs have outlined a central question that could help generate long term value for their projects: what human values could we define for innovation?
You could see this presentation as a "thinkathon" collating customers, finance stakeholders and business experts views and processing them through methodologies defined as the discussion goes along. We created a tool to capture requirements, a thinking framework to compile user stories into user solutions, and a management tool to monitor costs and results. Finally, we have consolidated results into an end-to-end plan which you can use to tell your own story and build human values for innovation.

An international research study sponsored by Corporate Excellence – Centre for Reputation Leadership in collaboration with Cees BM van Riel, Corporate Communication Professor at Rotterdam School of Management - Erasmus University. The study addresses the success drivers of Chief Communications Officer (CCO). It was carried out from June 2011 to December 2012, and it used questionnaires and in-depth interviews with 117 Communications Director from large corporations in the U.S., UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico and Chile.
What determines the success of Chief Communications Officer (CCO)? To what extent do personal skills play a role in that success? What are those skills? To what extent does the business in which the organization operates play a role? Is it more operational, tactical, strategic or a combination? The research points out three main aspects: the CCO must play an important role both internal and externally, the CCO should implement an impacting communication, and he or she should have the personal skills enable them to carry out strategic tasks.
In this edition of The SoDA Report, we explore the concept of value. We place the human at the heart of this issue and explore themes around value systems, value creation and value delivery from a wide variety of perspectives. How are agencies, production companies, brands and technologies creating and delivering value, or even giving rise to entirely new value systems? We dive into all of these questions throughout the editorial sections and via our annual Digital Marketing Outlook (DMO) research study.

This is the slide deck for my keynote at the Software Architect conference in London, October 2015.
The development and maintenance of monoliths presents organisations with increasing challenges, resulting in high costs and a decreasing time-to-market. More and more organisations are therefore attempting to componentise their applications.
The latest and greatest paradigm “microservices” finally seems to deliver on the promises of service-oriented architecture: shortening time-to-market, scalability, autonomy, and exchangeability of technology and databases. The challenges of delivering microservices however are equally big.
In this keynote presentation, Sander will elaborate on his personal experiences with implementing microservices architectures. He’ll be certain to address the good parts, but he does not shy away from also tackling the bad and ugly parts.

Tell your own story how can you become the next exponential catalyst? previewWeAreInnovation
Following our Loop#2, Round#6 discussion, we have come up with a new question to understand how to use technologies to reach a systemic, « exponential everything » impact. The expression is derived from the idea highlighted by experts that the IoT was driving knowledge and information sharing in an exponential way. I have therefore taken on board the investigation of our current analyses and strategic recommendations to determine how the rise of digital data could enable smart change makers to optimize innovation and drive sustainable, « exponential » growth. This is a preview version. Download the full report: https://gumroad.com/l/CczAI
This document analyses the role of the social media in communications about a company’s innovations, identifies the most important tools that facilitate this communication and suggests how can innovation generate value for a brand, wondering what is the effective way of identifying innovation assets of a company from the viewpoint of communication.
In Spain reference models in social and professional terms are about search for secure employment in public administrations and large companies. Media in Spain pay less attention to entrepreneurship (especially when it comes to new companies or start-ups)
In order to achieve significant changes in this issue, it is necessary to change the existing paradigm and be able to transform information into knowledge.
This change implies stimulation of entrepreneurship and innovation at the family, school and public levels apart from the corporate level; emphasize close relationship between large, medium and small companies as well as the public and private sectors; provide incentives and financial support for news media that report about innovation; promote traditional and digital journalism specializing in these themes.
Objectives and strategy are the key starting points for planning communication that should conform to the general communication policy of the company. Once this is set, the rest of the key elements are related to creativity and implementation.
Thus innovation objectives should be linked to the company’s strategy and all departments should actively participate in the process of innovation, removing traditional divisional barriers.
Storytelling is vital at the initial stage, and acts as a focal point that determines the rest of communication and content generation tools through platforms developed for co-creation with customers, face-to-face meetings, etc.
In all these media and channels, it is important to control all messages at all stages of the innovation value chain, aligning them with the character of the company and its values, especially those related to transparency, sincerity, the skills to be faster than competitors and be able to keep track of investments.
Managing information and sharing knowledge are key elements for any internal communication policy, and their importance increases when it comes to facilitating innovation and doing it openly, in conjunction with external professionals.
In the world of Internet communication, content is key. But it is also necessary to identify the messages of this content or to know what media and channels are adequate for communications about innovation.
Brands are managed and defined by people much more than by organizations themselves: employees shape how brands are seen and clients support or attack brands according to their personal experience and have an impact on companies’ reputation.
‘Brand Together’ by Nicholas Ind, Professor at the Business School in Oslo (Norway), written together with Clare Fuller and Charles Trevail defends that companies won’t reach their stakeholders and be successful by relying on mass advertising but through an authentic engagement and co-creation processes that build stronger bonds between brands and stakeholders by talking and collaborating with them.
Nowadays, communication is a two-side path, employees have much more to say and brand managers have to fuel that relationship and get stakeholders to engage and feel that they also “own” the brands.
Brands want to innovate, surprise and be admired. However, it is not only a matter of launching new products and services, but new processes, models and ideas. Trust is key factor when trying to create a constant and permanent creativity and innovation atmosphere, since it helps to dialogue and exchanging, main basis of a collaboration process.
The character and DNA of a company should be expressed through their actions and ideas, and those will shape the view that customers, stakeholders and society have about the brand. The sum of these considerations will be translated into the reputation of the brand. Hence, the important role of co-creation and innovation when promoting a brand.
Brand managers tend to overvalue reward influence but, as Ind says, what motivates professionals the most is to participate, socialize and do something that is worth it. It is an essential requirement to get employees engaged turning them into the most important brand ambassadors. Because of this, the organization will achieve three main goals: product and services innovation, brand value reinforcement and improvement of financial results.
Co-creation process can be divided into two stages (the thinking stage and the implementing stage) and help brands to be owned by users, by speaking and collaborating with them in order to create and develop those things that really affect them and are important for them
Let’s translate ideas into sustainable businesses that bring innovative ideas to life. Together we can address different types of problems in more effective, innovative and agile ways. We have to be aware of the obstacles to unlock talent inside our organization and take actions right away.
Digital marketing success is hinged on social currency.
Everywhere you look, there seems to be a growing dissonance between brands and their digital marketing offerings.
Communication and technology are proving to be the true engines for progress nowadays. Today, the big challenge for companies is to understand and manage their context.
Thus, the figure of influencers is essential for companies, who consider them as a basic active for brands because of their ability to influence through the new digital channels.
It is also important to understand that this new context promotes communication models based on the contents, corporate values or business ethics. Storytelling is, in this sense, an important element that helps audiences establish their view of reality, generate human emotions associated to the brand and in consequence create feedback as feelings, which favour the consumers’ engagement.
In this context, employee alignment is fundamental for any company. It is also very positive to have clearly defined mission, vision, and values. Working atmosphere is also important as it impacts on business outcomes and helps a company to gain a better reputation among its key stakeholders. It is essential to promote innovation and a values-oriented leadership.
This new upcoming landscape is based on the speed at which change overcomes, and a large volume of available, varied information. These three axes unveil a business management model in tune with the times and in a decidedly technological environment. Consequently, Big Data has transformed the world as we knew it, turning users into content managers. Besides, the new technological context and the arrival of Big Data have also had important consequences in the IT field. Besides, the new technological context and the arrival of Big Data has also had important consequences in the IT field.
Listening to the public is the government’s juridical responsibility and all management must display an integrating attitude, organising and managing the large volumes of available information that is within our reach. Technologic development becomes a useful tool to measure, evaluate and control the different scenarios that can arise in business but which, at the same time, current circumstances demand a very person-oriented focus.
Under this framework, companies need to bear in mind the important role employees play, vouching for their business project and their company’s competitiveness within the market.

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities to radically reinvent the way we do business. This study explores how CEOs and top decision makers around the world are responding to the transformative potential of AI.
The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.
Specific ServPoints should be tailored for restaurants in all food service segments. Your ServPoints should be the centerpiece of brand delivery training (guest service) and align with your brand position and marketing initiatives, especially in high-labor-cost conditions.

4. Introduction
Through recent discussions engaging social
media and technology experts, innovation leaders
and entrepreneurs have outlined a central
question that could help generate long term value
for their projects: what human values could we
define for innovation?
!
As an intent to answer this question, I have
analyzed how our innovation community would
formulate their requirements through diversity
profiles built for the most recent innovation
segments analyzed on the blog. The question
asked to the database is: « How can we build
human values for innovation? » The entry data
for this analysis can be found in « InnoTrends »
section. I have then investigated how to build
virtuous difference circles from the hence
identified need, using analytic and strategic
methodologies defined in our latest innovation
tools: « Content Marketing: Keeping substantial
and intentional » and « Innograph: Communities,
Cultures and Companies ».
!
!
Finally, I have outlined how such virtuous circle
could be maintained on the long term by
monitoring costs of uniformity, and applying them
to our latest Innometrics: « Human in the digital
workplace: assessing our readiness to
disruption ».
!
The end results draws an action plan and
strategic recommendations you can use as an
inspiration to build your own human values
for innovation.
!
I also offer dedicated sessions to go through your projects
and priorities if you need further assistance rolling-out
diversity as a management and innovation practice in your
business.

6. Author’s comment
Having worked in both disrupted and
disruptive businesses, I have a deep
understanding of the importance of human
links in delivering highly pressuring work while
still maintaining a human framework for
creativity. One of the teams I was engaged
with had the responsibility of defining strategic
plan for multiple countries in Europe, and
needed to combine ideas from a variety of
field specialists to create stories to market that
would convince internal investors.
!
You could think the challenge resided in
compiling all information to come to a
meaningful story that would get internal buy-in
and support. In reality, the challenge was to
get internally trusted information from the
right contact, with the right level of details
and intent that would help foster the right
messages. Information supported by an
engaged sales manager who drives on-going
discussions with strategic customers soon
outpaced specialists market analyses even
though they helped calculating credible
market sizes and understanding competition
threats.
!
Presenting new concepts to market proved
more relevant when it combined an end-user
viewpoint to an internal financial threshold
while anticipating long term trends and
positioning the brand on a systemic level,
rather than a short term commercial priority,
even though it was the initial request. This
end-to-end story could only be compiled
by understanding personal backgrounds
provided with information, and this context
necessarily calls for human interaction,
and delivers human value: the conviction
to invest in highly engaging projects that
binds individuals to deliver commercial
objectives that would benefit to all
stakeholders.

8. Management view
Economic and business disruptions are leading an increasing
number of businesses, from various sectors and type, to face
daily complex challenges they need to handle on top of
developing their business as usual activity. The growth of digital
opportunities as well as the exponential impact of new joiners in
incumbent markets question the stability of so far known
business strategies.
!
Because the trends generating this situation are linked to
systemic issues, such as our interconnected economies and
related decisions as well as our generational divides and
diverging cultural ideals, only systemic approaches to change
are able to guide businesses in best defining how to innovate.
weareinnovation.org
9. Operational view
Diversity is a key element in defining individual value within complex systems affecting and
interconnecting a growing variety of ideas and issues. By developing diversity as an innovation practice,
project owners, team leaders and stakeholders are able to find the exact skills they need to deliver
personal and unique value.
!
In our management report “Diversity as a success story“, we detail the components of inner and outer
diversity which can be used to define team, projects and individual diversity profile as a holistic way
to scope the combined business and human value of an initiative.

10. Experts view
« Since we have a human start for a common story between technology, businesses and values,
it seems inevitable to better consider the human also standing at the conclusion of the story. An
idea may be to provide users with the trust that developments are taking into account their
stories, focusing on human sense out of technologies, gradually shaping commonly desired social
and systemic goals. »

11. What is your diversity profile?
The objective of building diversity profiles is to understand how skills, ideas and projects can be
combined to develop a constructive partnership. Such tool can for example determine what specific
role each partner should play and anticipate potential challenges in interacting with other
specific members or partners. Diversity profile should outline the human components of our
conversations, breaking them down into specific diversity category to define common denominators
to build upon.

How can we build ecosystems and models profitable
to customers, businesses and employees that
reinvent our approach to economic growth, focusing
on sense rather than complex processes?
weareinnovation.org
16. « And yes, you can do it over a coffee

Of course, major businesses have their own style
and would set-up meetings weeks in advance to ask
commercial, finance and business managers to
come and sit down around the same table before
slides are shared on a screen for everyone to
discuss. The most impactful insights I have
gathered though couldn’t be shared within those
closed, restricted presentations that tend to
direct ideas and opinions by interfering with
personal agendas and career representations
affecting information shared publicly.
The information needed to build engaging stories has
to cover personal visions and working habits that can
only be discovered by meeting people instead of job
titles and business objectives. Here are three ways I
can share to meet characters and ideas behind the
business card (and please, don’t stick to phone calls
and e-mails :)):
Be a sales learner!
Ask account managers to take you through their
latest business review and visits on site, without
specific question or agenda. Take your own tour
through their eyes. What new barriers or need
can be explored on top of existing offers?
Be curious about numbers!
Ask questions about the latest finance review
and find out how and why those numbers were
built, how long it takes to reach those
conclusions. You’ll be amazed.
Spend time with your community!
Business community gatherings are an important
place to share business and customer insight,
make sure you participate to creating links and
use those safe places to challenge your own
projects.
