2. Introduction of Television.
• Television means an electric communication medium that allows the transmission of real
time visual images, and also sound.
• Television is a telecommunication medium for transmitting and receiving moving images
that can be monochrome means black and white or colored, with or without
accompanying sound. “Television” may also refer specifically to a television set, television
programming, or television transmission.
• Television is one of the major medium of mass-media. There are a large number of people
who cannot read or write for them television is useful tool. It gives us the knowledge
about all around the world. There are so many main or sub genre of television.
• Experiments in Television broadcasting were initiated
during the 1920s in the United States and Europe.

3. Meaning of Genre.
• "Genre is the term for any category of literature or other forms of art or culture for
example music and in general,any type of discourse, whether written or spoken, audible
or visual, based on some set of stylistic criteria.“

Television
• Documentaries/factual television is a genre of
nonfiction television programming that documents
actual events and people. These types of programs
are also described as documentary, observational
documentary, fly on the wall, docudrama and reality
television.
• It is sometimes known as documentary theatre. This
is related to real life, historical events, Serious
issues, fact in society, Wild life issues, Historical
death etc. In the core elements of its story a
docudrama strives to adhere to known historical
facts, while allowing a greater or lesser degree of
dramatic license in peripheral details and where
there are gaps in the historical record.

• Usually, guests consist of a group of people who are learned
and who have great experience in relation to whatever issue
is being discussed on the show for that episode.
• Other times, a single guest discusses their work or area of
expertise with a host or co hosts. It is show of tonight only.
• Many a time, call in show takes live phone calls from callers
listening at home. Sometimes, guests are already seated but
are often introduced and enter from backstage.

• Children's programmes are designed & marked to children normally broadcast
programming scheduled for broadcast during the morning and afternoon when
children are awake.
• They can sometimes run during evening, allowing younger children to watch them
are kindergarten or school. The purpose of the shows is mainly to entertainment &

• Tele novella means it is a type of limited run serial drama and it is originally
from Latin America and Popular on Southeast Asian, Latin American, East Asian,
South Asian, Portuguese and Spanish television networks.
• The word combines ‘Tele’ short for television and ‘novella’, a Spanish and
Portuguese word for novel. Tele novella comes on television channels and these
Tele novellas are based on the some of the novel and their incident.
