2. Introduction of Television
• Television means an electric communication medium that allows
the transmission of real time visual images, and also sound.
• television is a telecommunication medium for transmitting and
receiving moving images that can be monochrome means black and
white or coloured, with or without accompanying sound.
“Television” may also refer specifically to a television set, television
programming or television transmission.
• Television is one of the major medium of Mass-media. There are a
large number of people who cannot read or write for them
television is useful tool. It gives us the knowledge about all around
the world. There are so many main or sub genre of television.
• Experiments in Television broadcasting were initiated during the
1920s in the United States and Europe.

5. TV Documentaries/factual television
• TV documentaries is genre that documents actual
events and people. It can be observational
documentary, docudrama and reality television.
• This includes Real life, historical events, serious
issues, fact in society, Wild life issues, Historical
deaths and war.
6. Talk shows
• Talk show is first launched in radio and its
followed in TV also. A person or group of people
discuss different topics.
• Guests are expertise in special area or they have
learned something or experienced that they
share in talk show.
7. Children’s Programmes
• Children’s show is mostly for entertainment and
education based. It schedule in the morning and
evening so they can watch in playhouses and kinder
gardens.
• In the end there is some kind of moral messages of
dream world, magic, fantasy, animal story, fairy story,
science and video games.
8. Talent Shows
• This kind of shows are for particularly age group
and also open for all. There is hunt of Music,
knowledge, dance, stunts, other art forms. This is
displays the talent of nation or world wide. There
is judge or jury members who decides the
winners and also online voting system.
9. Reality TV show
• This is about Our real society and programmes displays the
real face of people. This is unscripted and non dramatic.
There is number of people who are celebrities in various
fields or a people who want to become celebrity.
• Cameras are capturing real talk and person’s activity and
that is broadcasting on TV.
• This is not Daily soaps but 2 or 3 days of week end like
Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
10. Religious Programmes
• This genre is about religious and spiritual
element of society. As India is continental
country of religion. So there are so many
religious channels of every state.
11. Soap Operas
• This is genre of serial drama on Television.
There is fictional characters and imaginary
stories. There is Emotional ,romance , Action,
comedy, Melodrama and face expression that
attract people.
12. Tele novella
• Tele novella means type of limited run serial drama it is
originally from Latin America and Popular in Southeast
Asia, Latin America, East Asian, Portuguese and Spanish
television networks.
• The word ‘Tele’ is short form of television and ‘novella’
is Spanish and Portuguese word for novel. So Tele
programmes adapted from novel called Telenovella.
