In light of the threat of Coronavirus global outbreak, an old article from my O'Moose Forum seemsto
warrant a revisit:

We can largelyreduce our CO2 emission and energy consumption by transformingmost of our jobs to
telecommutingjobsand thussolve the traffic congestion in major metropolitan areasas well. This is an
old idea that hasbeen around for quite a long time. It didn't really become a mainstream workingstyle
mainlybecause the difficultyin supervisingthe employees' activitiesand inadequate telecommunication
technologies back then. With the widelyadoption of mobile smart phones and Internet of Things in the
horizon, the old idea really deservesa revisit.
Potential Implementation Strategy:
1. Employersset policy to allow employees whose jobsare suitable for telecommute, can have an option
to work out of their homesor anywhere theychoose.
2. In exchange, the employees agree to a reasonable pay cut or government gives a tax break for the
employerswho do so.
3. Employersissue a company smart phone and computer to be used for company's businessand
nothingelse.
4. Anydata and communications on the company issued devices are fair game for the company to
monitor and retrieve (i.e. business/job).
5. Anydata and communications not on the company issued devicesare out of employers'reach (i.e.
private).
6. An AI algorithm（”FBNQ“）can automaticallydoa timesheet tocount those job related activitiesand
ignore activitiesin personal nature. *Note: FBNQcan be a great wayto monetize IOT and thusa
potential killer app.
7. Even anydata or information obtained bythe company issued devices but is of personal nature, FBNQ
will ignore and delete from collection and not upload to the cloud.
Pros: Great for ecosystem, employeesand city planning.
Cons: Data securityand businessintelligence concernsmay prevent manyemployers to participate.
Let's face it, our privacy has long gone since the inception of smart phones. With the adoption of IOT,
there is no privacy even at your own home while you are not using a smart phone or computer. We
might as well get somethingout of thisordeal to spare ourselves the daily commute and help our
environment along the way.
