adulthood, which varies across the world, who
become pregnant.

4. Effects of teenage pregnancy
• On the mother:
– Medical complication.
– Lack of financial stability.
– Death rate at child birth is staggering. The
feeble teenage bodies cannot take the
pressure.
– Suffering from premature labour.

• On the child:
– Premature birth.
– Born under-weight
– As they are born pre-mature and under-weight
they stand the chance of dying within the first
month itself.
– It might also lead to mental retardation or other
disabilities

per 1000 girls.
2) In developing countries, 7.3 million females under the
age 18 give birth per year.
3) Africa has the highest teen pregnancy rates in the world.
4) In the global scenario, 3 in 10 teen American girls will get
pregnant at least once before the age of 20.
5) The number of teenage pregnancy rate in New Zealand is
51 per 1000 population & in UK 47 out of 1000.

• Don’t give in peer pressure.

• Don’t make sex a taboo subject.

• Know what to do when pregnancy occurs.
