Teen pregnancy rates have been declining in the United States over the past two decades. However, rates still remain higher in the U.S. than in other western industrialized nations. Factors such as access to sex education and contraception have been shown to impact teen pregnancy rates across states and demographic groups. While the teen birth rate is falling, the costs of teen childbearing remain high both economically and socially.
