Human technology has enabled violence since early tool-using ancestors and continues to damage the environment through war and widespread resource use. Weapons evolved from stone tools to metal and firearms, fueling conflicts over land, religion, and power that required natural resources. Modern issues include nuclear weapons destroying landscapes and poisoning water, fossil fuel emissions warming the planet, and raw material depletion through rainforest destruction. While technology improves lives, its development and mass production negatively impact the environment unless a more sustainable approach is taken.
