Technology has both benefits and risks for humanity and the planet. While technology has improved lives in many ways, such as entertainment and communication, it can also enable great harm, like nuclear disasters and space debris. Additionally, overreliance on technology risks reducing important social skills and disconnecting people from nature. Overall, technology should be developed and used responsibly to maximize benefits and minimize risks.
2. What is Technology?
The basic definition of technology : the application
of scientific knowledge for practical purposes,
esp. in industry.
In normal words though technology simply means
something that makes our lives better and easier to
cope with
It was technology that started the industrial
revolution and even the invention of the car.
All in all technology has an impact on our lives for
good or for worse. We may deny but the facts dictate.
3.
4. Why is technology good?
Technology has enriched our lives in more than one
way.
The invention of the TV is said to be one of the
major inventions as it provides us with countless
hours of entertainment at the click of a button.
Mobile phones,GPS and even things like 3d printing
are having a profound effect on our lives.
Lets not forget the weapons that are being
implemented in the war zone and the mass
destruction they can create at the touch of a button.
5. Why is technology bad?
Well if we look at the current state of our world
what we see is a large quantity of people engaged in
their own activity.
Lives lost daily in the war zone for no reason
whatsoever.why is that?
Technology comes with a lot of responsibilty and
sadly humans have not made good with it
Phones have engulfed lives of people making them
have social diorders as they have lost the art of
reacting to a persons face
6. Why the need for technology?
If you thought that technology problems ended with
the millennium bug, think again.
One of the wonderful things about innovation is
that as scientists develop new technologies as soon
as there is a need for it in the market.
That is all the justification we need without any
formal explanation.
The trait of human being to not question the
negative effects of technology is what is causing the
problem.
8. What technologies will doom the
earth?
No face to face Comunication
Nuclear power
Genetic engineering
Space Littering
Rise of Reality Television
Lack of reading printed material
9. Civilization with no Face to Face
comunication
As the web develops ever-greater applications and
even better means of communication, could we see
society crumbling as we’re all too busy social
networking?
If that’s not bad enough, just ask your health and
safety rep about the dangers of sitting in front of a
computer monitor all day
There has also been rise of
health disoders after the rise
of technology.
10. Nuclear Power
What if Chernobyl happens again? It did in 2011 in Japan.
As the government considers creating more nuclear power stations
to prevent energy shortages, doubts remain over their safety.
Concerns have been raised over the safety of the facilities
themselves, the environmental impact of the disposing of
radioactive waste and the potential targets that they provide to
terrorist organisations.
The Fukushima Daiichii reactor was damaged due to the tsunami
in 2011, in order to put out the waste Ocean water was used which
was dumped by into the ocean.
This means thousands of years of fatal effects will be experienced
by people surroundin it.
And lets not forget the willingness of countries to use the
technology against each other.
11. Genetic Engineering
What if we’re not very good at playing God?
Scientists have been manipulating genetic structure to alter
characteristics since the 1950s and the science is now
commonplace in procedures like infertility treatment.
However, critics say that genetic engineering could lead to
dangerous mutations and that we should leave well alone
when it comes to DNA.
12. Space Littering
What hope is there for humanity if we’re already
littering space?
Not only are we creating unmanageable amounts of
rubbish here on earth, but there is a build-up of
debris outside of our atmosphere called space junk.
Space junk consists of abandoned satellites and
rockets and is estimated to contain around a million
pieces, all travelling unbelievably fast around the
earth.
Whos to say they wont be propelled towards the
earth at a high speed causing damage?
13. Rise of the Television
We may deny but the effect that Television has on us
quite frightneing.
The increase in television means more and more
mindless entertainment that panders to the lowest
common denominator.
Television is also quite infamous on the negative
self image it creates.
Young girls are being sucked into this phony world
where everything is fabricated but since it is
broadcasted it gains credibility.
14. Lack of reading printed material
It could be said that there is an epidemic of a population that
have grown without understanding the joy of reading books.
Tablets ,phones, computers dont have the same intimacy of
gaining knowledge that books provide
There has been a disconnection to our natural ways and that is
very frightening.
"Professor Linda Pagani of the University of Montreal and the
CHU Sainte-Justine children's hospital conducted the study and
told Newswise that more time spent in front of the TV
significantly decreases vocabulary and math skills, classroom
engagement, attention skills, and physical prowess in
kindergarten. In addition, above average TV time also correlated
with an increased risk for victimization by classmates(Velez, M.
2013)".
15. So Boon or Doom
Yes, technology has not been kind to us in some
aspects but we need it to survive in todays world.
We should not be disheartened by the effect that
technology continues to have on us
On the otherhand we should encourage the old ways
a bit more cause believe it or not they are going to
vanish sooner than later.
That is the sad and inevitable truth.
