Technology Intigrated Lesson Plan (noble gases)
1. Noble Gases Weebly Website Unit
Grade Level: 8th Grade
Subject/Topic Areas: Science & Technology
Key Words: element, periodic table, noble gas, helium, krypton, xenon, argon, radon,
screencast, Weebly, template, graphic, text
Designed by: Ashley Campbell
Time Frame: 4-5 Days
Brief Summary of Unit:
In this introductory unit students will learn about the properties, uses, and known location
of the six noble gases by interacting with a hyperstudio 5 multimedia program and an interactive
PowerPoint. Students will then view several screencasts that explain how to use the free web
hosting site called Weebly and develop their own Weebly website that will display their research
on the noble gases.

Stage 1- Desired Results
Established Goals:
This unit cover Georgia Performance Standard:
S8P1. Students will examine the scientific view of the nature of matter.
f. Recognize that there are more than 100 elements and some have similar properties as shown on
the Periodic Table of Elements.
This unit cover the International Society for Technology Education (NETS) Standards:
3.Research and Information Fluency
Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information. Students:
a. plan strategies to guide inquiry.
b. locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of
sources and media.
c. evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to
specific tasks.
d. process data and report results.
6. Technology Operations and Concepts
Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.
Students:
a. understand and use technology systems.
b. select and use applications effectively and productively.
c. troubleshoot systems and applications.
d. transfer current knowledge to learning of new technologies.

Stage 2- Assessment Evidence
Performance Tasks: Other Evidence:
Noble Gas Website—Students develop their Webpage Planning Document—Students will
own Weebly website that will display their complete the planning document to prepare for
research on the noble gases. the creation of their website.
EXIT cards—Everyday before students leave
the computer lab they must turn in a card that
answers the daily question.
Website Self Assessing Rubric—Students will
self assess their completed website and turn it
in with the link to their website.
Self-Assessments
1. Self assess everyday with the EXIT cards.
2. Self assess the website with the rubric.
Stage 3 Learning Plan
. Learning Activities:
1. Begin with an entree question (Can bathing in hot springs give you cancer?) to hook students
attention about where noble gases are found. H
