- If you think on how technology that supports business has been eveloving over the years, we have been going through couple of stages. First, we spent several decades on all kinds of management and performance measurment systems. The goal was to keep the shop better organized, optizmie the process.
- As we achieved maturity in the management processes optimization, the world shifted its focus to consumer.

- However, what’s interesting is that all the computing power we have, and all the creativity was never employed to solve the challanges of Leadership. And when we speak about leaders we often refer to personalities, icons of their times and industries, but even if they created groundbreaking technology, the technology itself did not help them lead. - And this is a quite a fascinating dilemma, as latest data shows it is in leadership where companies see biggest importance but also greatest capability gap.
- At Luxoft we recently established a new division called Luxoft Creative Labs where we set for our self a single mission: to bridge the gap between business, technology, and human being.
- We asked our self, how given the technology we have at hand, or we know will be ready for market in the next 5 years we could address some of the challenges of leadership, and create the Technology Enabled Leader
- So we took the top key trends and most promising technologies out there, and we allowed our self to go wild with our creativity and imagination to try to fix 4 top leadership opportunities For the fun of the exercise we decided to forget about legal limitations, as well as potential employee bias towards some of the solutions
- So let’s start with something easy to get you in the mood. Imagine you leading a team of people wearing hololens (augmented reality), where you present the vision of your company, project or product in such a quality that people can almost feel it. You can turn it around, you can interact with it, while you talk about it Now, showing it in an attractive way is one thing, second thing is to know whether: The message is getting across Whether your team is getting excited about it Today a 50 USD toy (wearables) can tell you, whether your brainwaves make your brain focused or not – this will indicate if the team is with you Excitement can be read by a modern fitness band, based on the heart rate. Having instant feedback on the effectiveness of your presentation,
- So lets move into something more difficult Emotional intelligence is a challenge for many of us
- So what if we took used some of the technology out there to be able to read our people better, so we can convey our points to them better. Imagine a case where you want delegate an important task to your team member. In this scenario, her emotional state at the moment when you pass the task is quite critical the outcome of that process. In the end, engagement and commitment is what we want to see in our people. Now lets capture some data todays technology allows to have: Beacons (internet of things) will tell you when she was on time to work, and if she started the day quickly by her desk or spent most of the time in the kitchen Sentiment analysis algorithm (big data) on running on your internal social network can tell you whether the comments shared where positive, neutral or negative The computer vision algorithm (built into your glasses, or employees computer) can easily read emotions and tell you which one of the basic six they feel prior the conversation, and during it All of that combined could provide you with a very detailed overview of the emotional state of your team member, and effectivnes of your communication
- Timely feedback, whether critical or a positive tap on the back can do wonders. As leaders we tend to be busy focused on what’s on top of our own agendas, and many of us are modest in giving timely feedback. What if we had a virtual personal assistant, who would give us hints on when to share the feedback, and the reason for it
- Now, all of this may seem as crazy ideas that will never materialize.
