The HanGo Personal Jukebox, released in 1999, was the first portable MP3 player. It had a 4.8 GB hard drive and could store around 1200 songs. In 2000, other players like the Creative NOMAD Jukebox and Cowon iAUDIO CW100 were released. The iPod, unveiled by Apple in October 2001, popularized digital audio players with a 5 GB hard drive, 1.8" size, and simple interface. While others had the technology, Apple understood their customers and employees which allowed the iPod to become the top digital audio player, changing the industry.
