WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS
OF CONSTRUCTINF THIS PRODUCT?
During pre-production we used various amounts of technologies to develop our ideas. These were mainly websites and programs
that aided our research but also helped present our blog.

For the research, we used websites such as Art Of The Title, Youtube and IMDB. These helped go towards the constant
development of the film. It also helped us research our genre and see films conventional to an art/house fantasy. This is when I
discovered films like Amelie and Submarine.

Art of the title I found particularly enhanced my understanding of an opening sequence of an art-house film. I chose
my font while looking at various films as well as analyzing the shot for shot format shown on the website. We could also search
hybrid genres however art-house fantasy is unique! Here is an example of of a shot for shot opening of James Bond’s latest film
Skyfall.

The website Youtube also allows us to upload our opening and this helps us gain an audience feedback and thus enhance the film.
We can also generate our own ideas by looking at others opening sequences whether it students films or a high budget feature
film.
To if three websites were not invited, it would effect our product immensely in terms of improving and developing our opening
two minutes. This had an immense impact upon our final project.
I was also be using the
program of celtx. This sets the
script out in a conventional
fashion. This gives space for
shot sizes, description of
location, V/O and dialogue.
Here is a screen grab from the
script.

Celtx did not only contribute
to the quality of the film
however it enriched the
practicality and gave us a
format of how we were going
to structure our two days of
filming.
This is the camera we used for our production. We shot all the footage on this. We also used an
external microphone. This helped with the volume of our dialogue as well as the clarity. Our main
worry was that it would shoot in 1080P. Luckily this was the case. It also had various filters
however we shot in a normal mode and if we were going to ad anything, it would be in the
editing suite.

Battery life was a problem we found as well as lighting. We were filming in winter and it would
get dark at four o'clock so the lighting of the room would naturally change. It was difficult to gain
continuity in the capricious lighting. Although there were these problems, I am extremely happy
of how the footage came out. With out the technology I believe the opening would look budget
and lack in looking professional
• In post production we used Adobe Premiere. Preliminarily we were using
iMovie 10 however we were having problems ducking the music with the V/O.
Originally this software was incredibly complicated however with use of the
pen tool I was able to over come this and everything was simplified.

• This was one of the most complicated processes of creating my product.
This was when I created a production indent from scratch. The ident is
called ‘two faced pictures’. I had to follow tutorials online to make it look
professional. I also had to dub sound effects over it and make them match
with the “glitter effect:. I found that even to make 3 second clip, it takes
around 6 hours of solid work. Here is a screen grab of the final product.
This was one of the most satisfying processes of the creation of my
  product.
