ALPHABET OF LINES
Object Or Visible Lines- Thick dark lines used to show an outline of an object,
visible edges, and surfaces.
ALPHABET OF LINES
DIMENSION LINE – Thin and dark lines show an object’s size (span) with a
numeric value. Usually terminates with arrowheads or tick markings..
ALPHABET OF LINES
HIDDEN LINE – Short dash lines use to show nonvisible surfaces. Usually
shown as medium thickness.
ALPHABET OF LINES
.
CENTER LINE – Long and short dash lines. Usually indicates center of holes,
circles and arcs. Line is thin and dark.
ALPHABET OF LINES
EXTENSION LINE – Thin and dark line are use to show the starting and
ending of dimensions..
ALPHABET OF LINES
CUTTING PLANE LINE – Extra thick lines use to show cutaway views or plane
of projection where a section view is taken. Arrow indicates the direction of
view.
ALPHABET OF LINES
SHORT AND LONG BREAK LINES –Short and long medium line are use to
show a cutaway view of a long section.
ALPHABET OF LINES
LEADER LINE – Medium line with an arrowhead to show notes or label for
size or special information about a feature.
ALPHABET OF LINES
PHANTOM LINE – Long line followed by two short dashes used to show the
alternate position of a moving part.
.
ALPHABET OF LINES
SECTION LINE – Medium lines drawn at 45 degrees use to show interior view
of solid areas of cutting plane line.

Isometric drawing
Oblique drawing
PERSPECTIVE
Orthographic drawing
BOBLIQUE DRAWING
It is drawn usually using a
45-degrees angle to render
the third dimension.
2 types of oblique drawing
CABINET PROJECTION
CAVALIER PROJECTION
BOBLIQUE DRAWING
BISOMETRIC DRAWING
 It is usually drawn using
30 degrees angles.
BPERSPECTIVE DRAWING
 Perspective drawing is
a technique to create the
linear illusion of depth. As
objects get further away
from the viewer they
appear to decrease in
size.

TOOLS
Pencils
 Drafting pencils are used to
create precise technical
drawings.
•B stands for "black". These pencils are
soft.
•H stands for "hard".
•HB stands for "hard black", which
means "medium hard". Used for
letterings.
•2H – used for linework
•4H- General
Tools
T-square
It is used with the drafting
board to draw horizontal lines
and to align other drawing
Triangular Scale
A triangular scale is used
for creating drawings and
reading dimensions.
Tools
Compass
technical drawing instrument
that can be used for inscribing
circles or arcs.
Protractor
It can be used for measuring
angles in a plane.
Tools
French curves
used in drafting (or were
before computer-aided
design) to draw smooth
curves of almost any desired
curvature in mechanical
Erasing Shield
designed to allow erasers to be
used through them to erase
lines and text without removing
lines close by which do not need
to be erased.
