Drafting- also spelled draughting, also called
engineering drawing, graphical representation of
structures, machines, and their component parts that
communicates the engineering intent of a technical
design to the craftsman or worker who makes the
product.
Drawing Tools
-Drafters need pencils that leave clean and precise lines. The graphite in drafters' pencils
ranges from much softer to much harder than regular pencils. Each grade has a specific
purpose. Harder pencils draw very thin dark lines and are used for things such as
dimension lines and lettering. Softer, more blunt pencils draw wider lines and mark things
such as walls or borders. In addition to pencils, drafters use templates to guarantee
perfect and consistent lettering and figures.
Measuring Tools
-Drafters use a wide variety of measuring tools in addition to tapes and rulers. A compass
and protractor help the drafter precisely measure angles and calculate and draw arcs,
circles and curved lines. T-squares help drafters draw straight lines and help identify when
when a line is vertical. Everything a drafter does has to have exact measurements, so
drawing everything in proper proportion to other lines is critical. Scales help a drafter
keep the proportions accurate. An engineer's scale is marked so that one inch represents
many feet and are used to draw roads and sewer systems and details in other very large
projects
Drawing- is at the heart or soul of an artist’s way to express
themselves. As a communication tool, drawing is a creative way
to express the feelings and thoughts of an artist or designer. A
drawing can be a sketch, a plan, a design, or graphic
representation made with the help of pens, pencils, or crayons.
The final result depends upon its nature and purpose.
TYPES OF DRAWING
Illustration Drawing
-These are drawings that are created to represent the lay-out of a
particular document. They include all the basic details of the project
concerned clearly stating its purpose, style, size, color, character, and
effect.
Life Drawing
-Drawings that result from direct or real observations are life drawings.
Life drawing, also known as still-life drawing or figure drawing,
portrays all the expressions that are viewed by the artist and captured in
the picture. The human figure forms one of the most enduring themes
in life drawing that is applied to portraiture, sculpture, medical
illustration, cartooning and comic book illustration, and other fields.
Emotive Drawing
-Similar to painting, emotive drawing emphasizes the exploration
and expression of different emotions, feelings, and moods. These
are generally depicted in the form of a personality.
Analytic Drawing
-Sketches that are created for clear understanding and
representation of observations made by an artist are called
analytic drawings. In simple words, analytic drawing is
undertaken to divide observations into small parts for a better
perspective.
Perspective Drawing
-Perspective drawing is used by artists to create three-
dimensional images on a two-dimensional picture plane,
such as paper. It represents space, distance, volume, light,
surface planes, and scale, all viewed from a particular eye-
level.
Diagrammatic Drawing
-When concepts and ideas are explored and investigated,
these are documented on paper through diagrammatic
drawing.
Geometric Drawing
-Geometric drawing is used, particularly, in
construction fields that demand specific
dimensions. Measured scales, true sides,
sections, and various other descriptive views
are represented through geometric drawing.
What Is an Isometric Drawing?
-Have you ever tried to draw a 3-dimensional shape, such as a cube? It
can be a bit of a challenge. Every artist faces the challenge of creating
3-dimensional images on 2-dimensional paper. A painter or sketch
artist may use techniques such as shadowing to make the image appear
as lifelike as possible. For a technical or engineering drawing,
however, different strategies have to be used. This is where an
isometric drawing becomes useful.
Isometric projection- is a method for visually
representing three-dimensional objects in two
dimensions in technical and engineering drawings. It
is an axonometric projection in which the three
coordinate axes appear equally foreshortened and the
angle between any two of them is 120 degrees
Oblique projection- is a simple type of technical drawing of graphical
projection used for producing two-dimensional images of three-
dimensional objects. The objects are not in perspective, so they do not
correspond to any view of an object that can be obtained in practice, but
the technique does yield somewhat convincing and useful images.
Perspective Drawing- in the graphic arts is an approximate
representation, generally on a flat surface, of an image as it is seen by
the eye.
Orthographic projection- is a means of representing three-dimensional
objects in two dimensions. It is a form of parallel projection, in which all
the projection lines are orthogonal to the projection plane, resulting in
every plane of the scene appearing in affine transformation on the
viewing surface.

  • 27. Drafting- also spelled draughting, also called engineering drawing, graphical representation of structures, machines, and their component parts that communicates the engineering intent of a technical design to the craftsman or worker who makes the product.
  • 28. Drawing Tools -Drafters need pencils that leave clean and precise lines. The graphite in drafters' pencils ranges from much softer to much harder than regular pencils. Each grade has a specific purpose. Harder pencils draw very thin dark lines and are used for things such as dimension lines and lettering. Softer, more blunt pencils draw wider lines and mark things such as walls or borders. In addition to pencils, drafters use templates to guarantee perfect and consistent lettering and figures. Measuring Tools -Drafters use a wide variety of measuring tools in addition to tapes and rulers. A compass and protractor help the drafter precisely measure angles and calculate and draw arcs, circles and curved lines. T-squares help drafters draw straight lines and help identify when when a line is vertical. Everything a drafter does has to have exact measurements, so drawing everything in proper proportion to other lines is critical. Scales help a drafter keep the proportions accurate. An engineer's scale is marked so that one inch represents many feet and are used to draw roads and sewer systems and details in other very large projects
  • 29. Drawing- is at the heart or soul of an artist’s way to express themselves. As a communication tool, drawing is a creative way to express the feelings and thoughts of an artist or designer. A drawing can be a sketch, a plan, a design, or graphic representation made with the help of pens, pencils, or crayons. The final result depends upon its nature and purpose. TYPES OF DRAWING
  • 30. Illustration Drawing -These are drawings that are created to represent the lay-out of a particular document. They include all the basic details of the project concerned clearly stating its purpose, style, size, color, character, and effect. Life Drawing -Drawings that result from direct or real observations are life drawings. Life drawing, also known as still-life drawing or figure drawing, portrays all the expressions that are viewed by the artist and captured in the picture. The human figure forms one of the most enduring themes in life drawing that is applied to portraiture, sculpture, medical illustration, cartooning and comic book illustration, and other fields.
  • 31. Emotive Drawing -Similar to painting, emotive drawing emphasizes the exploration and expression of different emotions, feelings, and moods. These are generally depicted in the form of a personality. Analytic Drawing -Sketches that are created for clear understanding and representation of observations made by an artist are called analytic drawings. In simple words, analytic drawing is undertaken to divide observations into small parts for a better perspective.
  • 32. Perspective Drawing -Perspective drawing is used by artists to create three- dimensional images on a two-dimensional picture plane, such as paper. It represents space, distance, volume, light, surface planes, and scale, all viewed from a particular eye- level. Diagrammatic Drawing -When concepts and ideas are explored and investigated, these are documented on paper through diagrammatic drawing.
  • 33. Geometric Drawing -Geometric drawing is used, particularly, in construction fields that demand specific dimensions. Measured scales, true sides, sections, and various other descriptive views are represented through geometric drawing.
  • 34. What Is an Isometric Drawing? -Have you ever tried to draw a 3-dimensional shape, such as a cube? It can be a bit of a challenge. Every artist faces the challenge of creating 3-dimensional images on 2-dimensional paper. A painter or sketch artist may use techniques such as shadowing to make the image appear as lifelike as possible. For a technical or engineering drawing, however, different strategies have to be used. This is where an isometric drawing becomes useful.
  • 35. Isometric projection- is a method for visually representing three-dimensional objects in two dimensions in technical and engineering drawings. It is an axonometric projection in which the three coordinate axes appear equally foreshortened and the angle between any two of them is 120 degrees
  • 36. Oblique projection- is a simple type of technical drawing of graphical projection used for producing two-dimensional images of three- dimensional objects. The objects are not in perspective, so they do not correspond to any view of an object that can be obtained in practice, but the technique does yield somewhat convincing and useful images. Perspective Drawing- in the graphic arts is an approximate representation, generally on a flat surface, of an image as it is seen by the eye. Orthographic projection- is a means of representing three-dimensional objects in two dimensions. It is a form of parallel projection, in which all the projection lines are orthogonal to the projection plane, resulting in every plane of the scene appearing in affine transformation on the viewing surface.
