This document discusses upgrading from System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 to SCOM 2012. It begins with an overview and introduction, then compares the key differences between the 2007 and 2012 versions in three stages: comparison of features, developing an action plan for upgrade, and post-upgrade evaluation. The comparison stage outlines improvements in 2012 such as simplified topology, high availability, new monitoring capabilities, and management pack compatibility. The action stage provides guidance on prerequisites, backup, implementation planning and execution. The evaluation stage suggests checking logs, event flows and system states after upgrade completion.
This LiveMeeting presentation introduces Application Performance Monitoring (APM) in System Center Operations Manager 2012. APM allows monitoring of .NET and WCF applications to identify performance issues. It requires SCOM 2012 or later with the IIS management pack installed. APM bridges the gap between development and operations teams by integrating with Team Foundation Server and collecting traces in an IntelliTrace format. It provides various tools for client-side monitoring, server-side monitoring, and analyzing application diagnostics and advisors to help answer common support questions about application slowdowns and errors.
The document discusses how to get started with monitoring after a successful installation of System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). It recommends doing an initial health check of the SCOM management server and database. It also covers installing SCOM agents, selecting appropriate management packs to monitor key components, and defining a phased approach for starting monitoring. The presentation provides tips on leveraging the community, backing up the SCOM environment, and finding quick wins to show management.

Monitor & Manage Citrix App Performance Using Microsoft SCOMeG Innovations
Citrix application infrastructures are very performance sensitive. “Citrix is slow” or “Citrix is not working” is a common complaint heard at the help desk from frustrated users. These complaints could be caused from a small problem anywhere in your infrastructure and you have to spend hours finding out where the real problem lies before you can resolve it and restore a positive user experience. Is it really a Citrix issue, or is the issue actually originating somewhere else in the infrastructure – i.e., the network, application, virtual platform, storage, etc.?
View these slides and discover how you can extend Microsoft System Operations Center (SCOM) – using the Microsoft SCOM Citrix Universal Management Pack - to monitor and manage Citrix infrastructures end to end, so when a user complains that Citrix is slow, you can pinpoint exactly where the cause of the problem lies — in just one click.
Learn how to:
• Monitor all of your Citrix tiers – XenApp, XenDesktop, XenServer, NetScaler, XenMobile, etc. directly from the Microsoft SCOM console
• Get deep visibility into every aspect of Citrix performance
• Pinpoint in just one click where the real cause of a problem lies
• Proactively detect and fix performance issues before users complain
• Publish real-time dashboards in Microsoft SCOM to provide key insights for the different stakeholders in your organization
• Generate powerful, end-to-end historical and trend reports that help you optimize and right-size your Citrix infrastructure for maximum ROI

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.
