  • 2. In pairs … • How do you define academic literacy? • Is it embedded into the curricula in your institution? • Who are the academic literacy professionals in HE?
  • 3. Academic Literacy is 'communicative competence in an academic discourse community' (Wingate, 2015, p.9). To be inclusive, it needs to be embedded. Academic Literacy in HE Sales 1st Qtr 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr

  • 7. The Academic Literacy Forum: a pan-university forum chaired by our Head of Learning Services. Reports to the top, which gave the library the remit to be the hub to improve academic literacy. Navigating the embedding of inclusive academic skills @ UWE Delivered mostly by EAP lecturers and librarians who are now teaching wider academic literacy skills e.g. academic writing/ reading skills etc.
  • 8. Patterns and a constant... In ALL variations of embedding at UWE, the academic literacy professionals are the constant and the linchpin. They: • mediate • feed back and feed forward • drive more effective embedding of academic skills into curricula. • Two examples …..
