Teaching Skills
• Teaching is the art of blending Knowledge ,
art, science and creativity
• It consists of Verbal and non verbal acts
• The set of related behaviours or teaching acts
aiming at specific Objectives and performed
with an intention to facilate Pupil’s learning
can be called teaching Skill
Teaching Skills
• A professional teacher should indentify what
all are the skill needed and should practice to
master Those all skill
• Professionals will always have some skillwhich
are present in them ,which they have acquired
through special training and practice
Chracteristics of teaching skill
• It can be developed individually
• It is realted to the unit plans of teaching
behaviorism
• It makes teaching meaningful and effective
• It is helpful in obtaining teaching objectives
(specific objectives)
• Makes the class active and changes the
behaviors of students
• It is very simple way to present the topic in
the class and the rate of learning is enhanced.
• It is realted to the teaching process and
behaviors
Teaching Skills
• Dr Passi (1976) has described the following 13
skills as follows :-
• 1. Writing instructional objectives
• 2. Introducing a lesson
• 3. Fluency in questioning
• 4. Probing questioning
• 5. Explaining
• 6. Illustrating with examples
• 7. Stimulus variation
Teaching Skills
• 8. Silence and non-verbal cues
• 9. Reinforcement
• 10. Increasing pupil participation
• 11. Using blackboard
• 12. Achieving Closure
• 13. Recognizing attending behavior
Importance of teaching skill
• Teaching skills are the main factors of a
teacher , it defines the teacher’sactivity in
class
• They make an understanding of what to teach
and how to teach
• These Skills are helpful in creating an effective
environment so that students can grab
knowledge
• Without teaching skills ,the teaching will
monotonous and students will not take part in
the teaching learning process. If they don’t
feel good during class then it’s meaningless to
teach them
• Now days activity-based teaching is being
done because student are everything is the
classroom: everything is for student so they
must be active at the time of teaching
Skills Needed for Teaching
• Enjoy communicating your understanding to
others.
• Have confidence.
• Have great organisational skills.
• Work effectively in groups.
• Be able to deal with conflict.
• Motivate your students to do their best.
• Empathise with your Students.
• Give feedback.
The Best and the Worst of Teaching
What's the Best that can Happen?
• You get to tell enthusiastic people about a
subject that you love.
• You may have interesting discussions that
push you to think on your feet and expand
your own understanding.
• You see less-able students blossom and
manage to get the outcome they need.
What's the Worst that can Happen?
• Lots of outside work may be needed to mark
work or prepare sessions.
• Not all your students will be enthusiastic.
Children and teenagers can be surly or
downright rude, while adults that you teach
may have their own views on things.
