OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
• 1-Student will able to define prose.
• 2-Student will able to know about the steps of teaching prose.
• 3-Student will able to prepare a lesson plan.
• 4- Student will able to present the lesson plan.
The teaching of prose includes two types of lessons;
1. Detailed or intensive prose lesson; Read thoroughly, mastering the
prescribed structure and vocabulary
2. Non detailed or extensive prose lessons; aims at giving information and
pleasure, to grasp the meaning of new words.
Thompson and Wyatt said. “To aim at literature is to miss the way to language. Aim at
language is to pave the way to literature”
The aims of teaching prose may be divided into two;

• To enable the students to read aloud prose lesson with correct
pronunciation, stress intonation and pause
•To enrich their active and passive vocabulary
•To Develop their interest for reading.
•To enable them to write correctly.
•To enable their imaginative power

ITS PURPOSE IS TO ENABLE THE STUDENTS TO KNOW THE EXACT WAY OF READING
THE TEACHER SHOULD ASKED THE STUDENTS TO READ THE PASSAGE LOUDLY
THE TEACHER SHOULD EMPLOY VARIOUS METHODS AND TECHNIQUES TO ENABLE
THE STUDENTS TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF THE PASSAGE
THE TEACHER SHOULD ASKED THE STUDENT TO READ THE PASSAGE SILENTLY IT
HELPS THEM IN CONCENTRATION AND ASSIMILATION
TO TEST THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE STUDENTS AND TO GIVE THEM PRACTICE IN ORAL
EXPRESSION THE TEACHER WILL ASK SOME QUESTIONS
BLACKBOARD WORK
The teacher will ask the students to copy the word and meaning from the
blackboard.
The main aim is to enable them to write in a good hand and with adequate
speed.
RECAPITULATION
The teacher should recapitulate the lesson. Questions should be asked to
evaluate to
What extent the objectives have been achieved. Questions should be
descriptive.
It should be based on logical thinking.
ASSIGNMENT
To verify that learning has taken place, exercises on different
aspects of the lesson should
be given such as: Fill in the blanks, Match the following,
Change the noun into pronoun, Translation, Synonyms or
antonyms, Make sentences, Write the summary of the
lesson.
