Drones In Sports
1.Introduction It is the year 2016, and the word drone, or UAS, seems to be a popular one these
days. These unmanned aircraft systems are versatile pieces of technology that have an
innumerable amount of purposes, from agriculture to law enforcement and everything else in
between. One interesting aspect of UAS is their use in sports broadcasting. As with anything, this
can have positive points and draw backs. Think of the aerial shots one could capture of any given
sporting event. What about the perspective of a coach who wants to use a UAS from a
recruitment or practice standpoint? Those are all well thought of ideas, but there is always a catch.
Safety seems to be an issue that is usually brought up when drones are being discussed.... Show

be aware of whether they re flying for a TV event or even just coaching. Looking into the future of
the UAS industry, the progress of technology will take some time but should improve safety
measures. Just take a minute and imagine what the world of sports broadcasting will be like five or

Three main issues arise when it comes to dividend policy in firms. The first issue is whether
dividend is needed or not and the second issue is regarding which one would be the best option
among various payout methods. Lastly, the third issue is about dividend rate. Whether these issues
will affect corporate values has been debated over the years. This paper will talk about such issues
through the case study of Linear Technology.
1. Why dividend is needed.
Linear Technology s payout policy, unlike many competitors in the Semiconductor Industry, has a
relatively large portion in dividends. Linear has provided steady dividends ... Show more content on

Since the firm s stocks are growth stocks, the cash used to repurchase stocks lacks the opportunity
of generating high cash flows. Accordingly, the market price would result in decreased future
earnings, EPS, and the firm value of Linear. The number of outstanding shares, instead of the price,
will decrease. While the price of stock would increase just as the amount of cash paid out to
repurchase the outstanding stocks. It is important that in both cases, earnings and earnings per share
before the payment are not affected.
3. About the dividend rate
Firms judge the rate of dividend initiations by earnings. However, simply put, if dividend rate
changes depending on the change of earnings, the fluctuation of dividend will increase. This
would not be good. Because cutting dividends means uncertain future cash flows. If a company
cuts dividend rate, shareholders will need higher opportunity costs of capital, as a result stock
prices will go down. Thus, Linear has retained constantly increasing dividend rates in small
amounts. Under the theoretical assumptions such as M M, there is no difference whether firms
pay out dividends or not. And if the cost of capital is lower than a firm s ROE, no dividend can
raise a firm s value. However, considering the real life factors, firms should keep on steady level
of dividend rate or repurchasing shares. Repurchasing shares seems to be a better solution. As a

A Doll s House And The Glass Menagerie
Symbolism is frequently used in dramatic works to represent abstract ideas and qualities,
potentially in the form of people, objects, places, or actions. Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and
Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie each include various symbols to represent the social
messages that the authors are trying to convey to the audience. In A Doll s House, the central
character, Nora Helmer, can be seen as a symbolherself. Her family and her husband treat her like
a doll, and this oppression and condescension is the reason for her inner unhappiness and longing
for independence. As well, Ibsen also focuses on the solo dance that Nora performs the Tarantella.
This dance emphasizes Nora s feelings of separation and isolation from her... Show more content on

The importance of the fire escape is pronounced right at the beginning of the play: The apartment
faces an alley and is entered by a fire escape, a structure whose name is a touch of accidental
poetic truth, for all of these huge buildings are always burning with slow and implacable fires of
human desperation (Williams 1). The fire escape is used by all of the characters to ordinarily
enter and exit the apartment, but it is also a means of escape. Laura Wingfield suffers from a
bad leg that makes her incapable of leaving her home. Since it is too difficult for her to use the
stairs of the fire escape to leave, she prefers the safety of the apartment. The one time Laura
returns from the store and uses the fire escape she trips on the stairs, clearly demonstrating how
vulnerable she is in the outside world, and how greatly she is bound to her private world within
the apartment. Conversely, Tom Wingfield, Laura s brother, wants nothing more than to follow in
his father s footsteps and leave his family behind. He frequently uses the fire escape to go out and
smoke, which shows just how much he dislikes life inside of the apartment, and foreshadows his
eventual getaway. Williams hints at escape throughout the entire play, highlighting it as one of the
key themes. Tom is constantly comparing the loyalty he feels towards his mother and sister versus
his true longing to leave home and be free of the confines of

Violence In A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens is about a time where the citizens of both France and
England are falling to oppression and violence by the government. With corrupted politicians
taking place; is making the citizens live their lives ruled by twisted people. One of the big
themes in A Tale of Two Cities is oppression and violence, which is making life difficult for those
who are innocent and want to live their life without pain as the corrupt government ends up
making everyone feel suffering. Politics is a main contributor to oppression and violence as they
tend to care more about themselves. The politicians are pleasing those who are in a high social
class than those who are in a lower social class such as the poor. In George Orwell s... Show more

Marketing Audit: BAE Systems Regional Aircraft Division
Overview of BAE Systems Regional Aircraft and Market
BAE SYSTEMS has a proud heritage that dates back to the early days of manned flight and
wireless communications. (BAE Systems, 2011)
BAE Systems Regional Aircraft was a major manufacturer of aircraft such as the Avro family of
regional jets including the 146 and the Jetstream 31 and 41 as well as turbo prop aircraft.
These aircraft achieved much success especially in Europe and the US market as the regional
airline passenger market took off in the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s. However, despite the

The negative economic climate also resulted in much consolidation in the sector, through alliances
and merger as companies sought to try and improve their positioning through the difficult time
period. However, economic factors can also vary substantially at a global level, and while the
more recent economic pressures have impacted globally, there were some signs of growth from
specific country markets, especially in the emerging economies. Overall, however, the chart
depicted below highlights the impact in terms of global trade, which declined sharply during the
period.

Comparison Of The Inflow Wind Velocity Fluctuations On The...
In this section, LES via vortex method was utilized to investigate the inflow wind velocity
fluctuations on the pressure distribution over the roof surface of TTU full scale building. In total,
the results of three CFD LES cases are presented in this section as follows:
(1) CFD LES at location 7 (TI=25%, TLS=10m);
(2) CFD LES at location 7 (TI=30%, TLS=15m);
(3) CFD LES at location 3 (TI=25%, TLS=10m).
The results of mean and peak pressure distribution over the roof surface for each cases are
compared with full scale field measurements and wind tunnel data within the next sub sections
accordingly.

According to the Figure 15 and Figure 16, the results show that the roof peak pressure contours of
a full scale building simulated by the developed CFD LES model 1 at location 7 with input
parameters of TI=25%, and TLS=10m are very similar to the TTU full scale field measurements.
This is again another proof that if an accurate turbulence closure, like LES, and appropriate inlet
velocity fluctuations (for instance using vortex method with tuned input parameters) are
implemented in CFD, the numerical model can be utilized for appropriate estimation of peak and
standard deviation of pressure distributions on low rise buildings within the numerical model. In
addition, in all three CFD LES models, high negative pressure values (suction effects) were
observed near the corner and edges of the windward side of the roof similar to the TTU field data
which are the spots on the roof that separation bubbles start developing in a fluctuating manner.
Identifying the extend of these regions will help to design appropriate mitigation features for
surpassing the high suctions at corner and edges on the roof. Figure 15 (c) and Figure 16 (c) show
that reproducing peak pressures in wind tunnel is, however, a big challenge due to its limitation to
correctly reproduce important flow characteristics and inherent scale issue with

Fans And Fandom
Traditionally, the topic of fans and fandom has been well researched throughout popular culture
media. Various studies have been conducted to discover the relationship between constructed
popular media and its impact on society and the concept of fans and fandom represent a positive
relationship between the two. The positive relationship, between fans and popular culture, can be
examined through the work of Bourdieu whom uncovered how culture distinctions are classed in
nature in order to legitimize a class hierarchy (Gray Murray, 2016, p.358). To make popular media
exclusive, researcher Stuart Hall (1999) discovered that the creators of popular media encoded their
own beliefs, values, norms and/or experiences into the media content that... Show more content on

Though anti fans do not support popular culture economically, researcher Dallas Smythe (2006)
revels that anti fans are knowledgeable individuals based on their experiences undergone throughout
childhood to adulthood (p.244). Using personal experiences, anti fans engage in semiotic and
enunciative productivity, as author Fiske (1989) quotes, where anti fans use their own personal
experiences to interpret, comprehend and articulate the popular media content (p.37). Armed with
their personal experiences, researcher Jonathan Gray (2003) documents that anti fans are able to
interpret the popular culture being produced and construct a recreation that is suitable for their
reaction, and in doing so, react negatively to the popular media content (p.71). In choosing to adapt
the popular media content, researcher Gray (2003) discovers that anti fans find a concept that they
wholeheartedly dislike and invest great amount of effort and time to express this displeasure;
ultimately allowing them to be active members in popular culture discourse (p.71). An example of
this can be seen in the anti fandom community that has been created against the Fifty Shades of
Grey series. Research conducted into the anti fandom community surrounding the displeasure
towards the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy unveils that distaste in a popular culture media can produce
various distinctions, with each anti fan having an interpretation, and input, towards what makes the
popular culture unpopular (Harman Jones, 2013,p.962). According to the researchers Harman Jones
(2013), the various distinctions that arise in anti fan discourse is proof towards exemplifying how
anti fans are active members in production and circulation of popular culture (p.963). Besides being

An Analysis of Employee Rights vs. Employer Rights
An Analysis of Employee Rights vs. Employer Rights BSAD 319 Professional Ethics 4/29/2012
When comparing the granted rights of employees versus employers, it does not truly seem that
either party has the advantage. These factors can often vary depending on state laws and
regulations, and it appears when consulting these laws, that there are many loopholes due to the
gray areas that accompany behavioral legal situations. There are many occurrences of foul play,
stereotyping and opinionated biases that seem to have caused and shaped these existing laws. Very
much like the medical field now, it seems that many employers have taken tedious extra precautions

This can be interpreted unfairly, due to the fact that many things ingested by the human body
can appear to be harmful on a urine test. This inaccuracy paired with human lab errors in the
analysis stage can lead to problems for an employee, for no legitimate reason. As stated in an
article published by the American Civil Liberties Union, The lab procedure is a second invasion
of privacy. Urinalysis reveals not only the presence of illegal drugs, but also the existence of
many other physical and medical conditions, including genetic predisposition to disease or
pregnancy. In 1988, the Washington, D.C. Police Department admitted it used urine samples
collected for drug tests to screen female employees for pregnancy without their knowledge or
consent. Furthermore, human error in the lab, or the test s failure to distinguish between legal
and illegal substances, can make even a small margin of error add up to a huge potential for false
positive results. (American Civil Liberties Union, 1997.) The disclosure of pregnancy is a very
difficult topic for women in the workplace. It is one of the reasons that women have been unable
to attain the same status of men in a professional setting, and it is still one of the reasons why
women are not making the same salary amounts statistically, as most men. The fact that this
information is available to the employer without permission, is not only a side product of drug

The Concepts Of Marketing And Marketing
Marketing deals with people s emotions and feelings, it also includes knowledge about the buyer s
psychology, his motives, attitudes, as well as influences of his family, groups of friends, and
culture. To increase advertisements persuasiveness, advertisers can use various means, such as the
theory of cognitive dissonance
The elements of the marketing process are referred to as a set of controllable tools that the firm
blends to produce the response it wants in the target market
The marketing process contains four steps. These four steps are all completed with the objective of
creating value for your target customers. Some elements of the steps are executed continuously, for
example monitoring the marketing environment. A few are done annually, that include the annual
development of a marketing communications plan. Lastly, some of the steps, if done correctly,
ought to last for decades, such as segmentation, targeting, and positioning. (According J. Hargrave,

The Elements of Marketing or Marketing mix which is famously known as the 4P s of Marketing

Privacy Before And During The Job
Privacy before and during the Job In today s world, privacy is something that is hard to come by.
Every second of ever day a person is generally being watched. This could include traditional eye

be caught performing a variety of actions on both security cameras and everyday cell phone
cameras, keylogging software is out there that can track a person s every keystroke, email and
phone conversations can be tapped and much more. A person that is applying for a job must be

Refugees And Refugee Populations
Targeted Populations Assignment
Given the current political climate in the United States, there has been an increased need for
social workers who have experience in working with individuals and families who are considered
to be immigrants or refugees. In the past decade, international conflicts, social oppression and civil
wars have generated 16 million refugees worldwide, with approximately 500,000 refugees being
resettled in the United States (Kira and Tummala Narra, 2014, p. 449). According to current
research, 82% of the increase in population between the years of 2005 to 2050 will be attributed to
immigrants arriving in this time (Chang Muy and Congress, 2015, p. 71).
As part of the ethical responsibilities of a social worker, advocacy on the behalf of clients is
something that needs to be emphasized when working with immigrant and refugee populations.
There have been a significant amount of legislative changes that have been made on both the
federal and state levels within the past ten years, such as the recent ninety day ban of individuals
coming from 7 predominantly Muslim nations (Healy, 2017, p. 247). A significant amount of the
work that is done by social workers with refugee individuals and families takes place either in
temporary settings with limited resources following armed conflicts and ethnic cleansing events
(Soliman and Gillespie, 2011, p. 789).

Old Chief Mshlanga Character Analysis
For some, coming of age is a time of obstacles and success in a young youth s life. It involves a
number of trials that is needed to overcome to become mature. Although, obstacles are not the
only features that a young adolescents will encounter. The journey will happen beginning with
successes and triumphs that will come to the shaping of who they are to become. One can
simply presume that the occurrence taking place in the world would have a strong impact on
how an adolescent comes of age. The tale Old Chief Mshlanga focuses on the main character,
the protagonist known as she or little Nkosikaas her encounter with an African chieftain that
causes her to see the differences between her people and the natives of the land they reside. The
author, Doris Lessing, uses the protagonist to show radically changing attitudes towards the Old
Chief Mshlanga. At the age of fourteen, the nameless protagonist meets Old Chief Mshlanga on
a walk with her dogs, a native tribal leader who used to own the whole area. The chief s pride
and respect make the girl gingerly change her opinion of natives and reconsider her prejudiced
vision and idea. As a result, she begins to be more pleasant towards the natives she encounters.
The girl s inner characterization resembles a coming of age character. She develops because of the
action and her traits as a child are presented in contrast with her traits as a teenager. This contrast is
emphasized using the third person narrator at the beginning of

John B Watson Behaviorism
The behaviorism perspective displays how the environment impacts the way people behave. This
perspective was founded by Watson, who wanted to revolutionize the study of human psychology in
order to put it on firm experimental footing. (http://www.iep.utm.edu/behavior/) Behaviorism shows
the chemical responses in our brain are triggered by the external part of our bodies. For example,
behaviorismexplains why we feel pleasure when we gamble, drink, smoke. Our body releases
endorphins which allows us to feel pleasure from doing these things. The first time you feel the
rush of gambling is what makes you want to keep gambling, even if it is not in your best interest.
One of the pioneers of the behaviorism perspective was John B. Watson. He was born to a poor
family in Greenville, South Carolina. When Watson was 13, his father left due to a drinking
problem and his countless affairs. Watson went to the University of Chicago, which sparked his
interest in behavior. He saw psychology as the study of people s actions with the ability to predict
and control those actions. (http://www.muskingum.edu/~psych/psycweb/history/watson.htm)

Hilton Hotel Case Study
The hotel units (mainly those operating in the luxury segment) believe that the sustainability of
their activity involves a balance between the economic benefits, and the social and environmental
responsibilities inherented to their actions.
The global objectives of these hotels are creating long term value for the company by developing
its activities in a balanced way and reconciling the interests of individuals, nature, and society.
The Hilton chain is currently the second largest hotel chain and the pioneer in global hospitality. It
is embedded in a highly competitive market, where preparation is the key. As such, the training of
employees, involvement with the environment, satisfaction and customer relationship are values
prioritised by the brand. For Hilton, the relationship with their customers, is the key to success;
values that Conrad Hilton has instituted in the brand since the first hotel was inaugurated. This
continued leadership is a consequence of the fidelity to the vision, mission and values instituted in
this hotel chain, in order to continue being the most hospitable organization in the world.
Our Planet is currently undergoing intense social, cultural, economic, and especially environmental
changes. In the middle of this process, tourism stands out because it is an activity that generates
considerable development factors. That is why hotel chains are reducing waste, water consumption
and investing in energy efficiency technologies .
In addition to the responsible business practices of Hilton, the corporation also ensures that their
suppliers are aligned with their core sustainable development practices. Keeping in mind the
development of programs and initiatives that support their commercial target, the hotel chain is
keen on managing the social and environmental impact of their operations. The achievement of
such goals and targets have lead to certain measures being taken such as: developing cross
functional advisory groups, ensuring their business is conducted with diverse suppliers,
involvement of local sourcing, and welfare of animals and their rights. In addition, the company

Review Of Blake Standring
Blake Standring Outliers Analysis Through a series of different tests, Gladwell concludes that
we have all too easily bought into the myth that successful people are self made. He says people
are invariably the beneficiaries of hidden advantages and extraordinary opportunities and cultural
legacies that allow them to learn and work hard and make sense of the world in ways others
cannot. Gladwell explains an outlier as a person who doesn t fit into our normal understanding of
achievement. According to Gladwell, great men and women are beneficiaries of specialization,
collaboration, time, and place. An outlier s recipe for successis not personally achieved through
hard work, but through opportunity and time on task. I actually agree with Gladwell s view of
success. People can work their whole life towards a goal and never achieve it, but if they know
of an opportunity, a legacy, or a specific way to achieve this goal more efficiently, they can be
successful. Examples are children being born in the early months to be better at hockey, working
on a specific task for 10,000 hours to become proficient, and proper training and excellent
communication while flying an airplane. First, we take a look at the 2007 Medicine Hat Tigers
roster. Canadian psychologist, Roger Barnsley first drew attention to the phenomenon of relative
age. He was shocked while looking at the roster as he noticed that seventeen of twenty five kids on
the team were born in January, February, March, or

Written in the 1940s, Arthur Miller s play the crucible explores the hysteria, persecution, and lack
of due process that characterized the 1692 Salem Trials. Arguably, the themes explored in this play
resonate with many modern and historical events. Arthur Miller himself saw strong connection
between the events surrounding the Red Scare in the 1950s. When juxtaposed with events of the
crucible, themes of hysteria, persecution, and lack of due process also emerge from a study of the
Japanese Internment Camps. In December 7 1941, one of the American colonies was attacked by

The Ramsey family has always been big suspects. The death of JonBenet Ramsey has confused
the world and remains unsolved. JonBenet Ramsey was in beauty pageants and she is named
after her father John Ramsey. JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered on December 26, 1996 at
the age of 6 years old. She is buried by her mother who died in 2006, and her half sister Elizabeth
Ramsey who died in 1992 due to a car crash. Her parents became suspects in 1997. After research
the Ramsey family was said to be not related to the actual murderer. (JonBenet Ramsey Murder
Fast Facts) When they looked at JonBenet thoroughly, they said that she had a fractured skull
possibly from a flashlight. Was possibly assaulted, and strangled by a garrote made from one of
Patsy s paint brushes. (JonBenet Ramsey Biography) To this day no one knows who killed
JonBenet, but there are multiple suspects. The most popular suspects are: the mother, father,
brother, town drifter, electrician, school teacher, and the housekeeper. (Who Killed JonBenet

This reason was because she always got upset and JonBenet when she wetted her bed. Another
reason is because it is said that sometimes Patsy Ramsey would flip a switch in a room, and slam
JonBenet s head against a hard surface. Sometimes including a bathtub or a headboard. Some
investigators also think that Patsy could have killed her daughter because the rope around
JonBenet s neck was made by a homemade garrote determined to have been fashioned out of a
paintbrush taken from Patsy s paint kit that laid near JonBenet when she was found. A very big
possibility is that the letter left on the staircase steps could have been from Patsy after realizing
that she had killed JonBenet. When investigators looked around for possible evidence they found
that the pen that had been used to write the note was from inside the house. (Who Killed JonBenet

UNDERSTANDING CONSUMER COMPLACENCY TO SWITCHING TO THE BEST OFFER
According to behavioral economists, consumers don t always behave rationally, like a market (in
theory) does, and they don t make decisions based solely on facts or logic such as price or quality.
Other psychological factors have an impact on decisions. This explains why very often,
consumers become complacent when faced with the best value proposition. FEAR OF
OVERPAYMENT The opportunistic mindset is engrained in how people shop today. People have
an expectation to get a deal and will not very easily purchase if they are convinced they could find
better. The way value is framed is key reassuring people that they ... Show more content on

Offering free maintenance for the purchase of a ver y expensive car creates a mechanism of
postrationalization of the value The same happens when we buy a new TV for $1,000 marked
down from $1,300! We rationalize the purchase is by telling ourselves we scored a deal.
Rather than evaluate how much a new television is worth to us, for example, we allow ourselves to
be guided by manufacturer s pricing and sale information.

First Amendment Rights Debate
The capability to speak openly and practice the religion of your choice has existed since the birth
of the United States of America. Yet in the past decade, more people than ever have caused us to
question which first amendment right should be protected more; freedom of speech or freedom
of religion. Such events where the two rights are pinned against each other, both seeking to sense
a feeling of supremacy, have proved to lead to conflict and even bloodshed. The recent
Muhammad cartoon drawing contest that took place in Garland, Texas is a prime example of the

The Religions Of The Middle East
Abrahamic religions, religions that derive from the biblical character Abraham, have three main
religions in the group. The first, and oldest, is Judaism, founded several thousand years ago in the
Middle East; then there is Christianity, the most popular religion in the world, which was founded
shortly after the death of Christ; finally, there is Islam, the second most popular religion in the
world, founded by the prophet Muhammed in the 7th century ACE. Islam has over one billion
followers of the Islamic faith. Although it is one of the most popular religions in the world, many
people do not know much about what Muslims, followers of Islam, believe in. Due to the rising
publicity of militant terrorist groups in the Middle East, Islamophobia has become rampant in many
first world countries. Although the media portrays violent and barbaric acts performed by militant
Muslims, a majority of Muslims do not commit such atrocities and are wrongly persecuted. Only by
educating those who do not know about Islam, can it be assured that Islamophobia will dwindle.
Islam was founded in Saudi Arabia by a prophet named Muhammed. Muhammed is considered to be
the greatest prophet in the Muslim faith, the second greatest prophet in the Muslim faith is
considered to be Jesus Christ himself. The one main, significant difference between Islam and
Christianity is that Muslims do not see Christ as being the Lord, they believe that only Allah, the
Arabic name for God, is the one, true lord.

The geographic feature of this country gives the solar energy an advantage over other sources
like wind and geothermal power especially that the latter require many wires, cords, and power
sources. Solar energy is induced with the help of solar panels. These panels convert the sun s
rays into electricity by exciting electrons in silicone cells using the photons of light from the sun.
In other words, sunlight is composed of miniscule particles called photons, which radiate from
the sun. As these hit the silicone atoms of the solar panels or cells, they transfer their energy to
loose electrons. Then, solar cells need to herd these electrons into an electric current (Physics.
org, n.d.). Consequently, the solar energy needs only sun rays to become beneficial and practical
for everyday use. The solar panels installation isn t complicated at all since there is no need of
wires and power sources. This makes installing solar panels in areas where there are no power
cables tremendously easy. Having three gigantic desserts in the Saudi Arabia, the government can
facilitate the development of these areas through the installation of PV panels. Besides, a very
small maintenance is needed compared to unrenewable energy generators. This aspect elucidates
that solar energy equipment lasts for a lifetime. Money invested in this domain isn t in vain.
Moreover, one imperative aspect of the installation of the photovoltaic cells

testosterone, and progesterone, and three synthetic or mad man steroids which are estrogen

Electrocution as an occupational hazard isn t limited to electricians. According to OSHA,
electrocution is responsible for one of every ten deaths in the construction industry. This
commonly happens when a ladder or the worker on it accidentally contacts a power line. This
occurs in a number of ways such as: A ladder contacts a power line while it is lifted into place,
moved sideways, or taken down. A ladder on unstable ground topples onto power lines. Ladders
displace other conductive objects such as antennas onto power lines. Workers on ladders

Nathaniel Hawthorne And Edgar Allen Poe
Nathanial Hawthorne and Edgar Allen Poe are inextricably connected because of their
methodology of works. These two authors of Dark Romanticism, delve into in their writings of
pensive mystery and sorrowful characteristics of America s Puritan thought. Both Hawthorne
and Poe apprehend the impact of transgression and evil on humanity. The Birthmark and Ligeia
both recognize that a yearning for perfection can generate a dark obsession that directs the heart
and will of man. The Birthmark is a tale of a youthful woman, Georgina, who has a hand shaped
mark upon her cheek and has been convinced by her husband to get the birthmark removed
because in his eyes it limits her perfection. She feels the pressure from her husband to get it
removed so she will feel accepted by him. Ligeia is a narrative of a young bride, Rowena, who is
intended to be the successor of her husband s deceased wife, but falls far short of the man s ideal
image of his first wife. Jeffrey Howard s analysis of Nathaniel Hawthornes The Birth Mark and
Jeffrey Howard s review Unburying the Wife: A Reflection Upon the Female Uncanny in Poe s
Ligeia correctly interprets the obsession Aylmer has toward the birthmark and the narrator of
Ligeia fixation he has towards his deceased wife. The overall outlook of these two author s writing

fixation and perfectionism.

Evelyn Nesbit s Ragtime
While there are many important messages in the play Ragtime, I believe the most important one is
the message about how women were treated unequally when compared to men and how this is still
a relevant theme in the world today. While there are major differences to how the female culture
was in the 1900s when compared to now, there are still unjust similarities. Throughout the story
there are femalecharacters who represent the growth that women at that time were making
however, this growth is slow and I believe it is not yet finished even today.
Even though it may seem as though Evelyn Nesbit played an insignificant role in this play, she
represented much of the unequal treatment women. She represented a type of woman that was in
existence simply to entertain men, known everywhere as The girl on the velvet swing (Athrens 0).
By the end of the play, Evelyn was motivated by money and material which, in the end, was her
downfall. Her character represents the end of the era of women being considered objects, just as the
feminist movement was beginning. However, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Unbreakable Bond In American Horse By Louise Erdrich
The Unbreakable Bond
When families are torn apart, the pain can be devastating and last a lifetime. When a child is
removed from a home, they can t always comprehend why they were taken away. A child may
think they did something wrong. They may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case,
Buddy wants to stay with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise
Erdrich s short story, American Horse, shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be
present in less than ideal circumstances.В° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla,
when he feels the satin roses, and the emergency chocolate bar.*
Buddy s relationship with his mother seems very strong. Buddy clearly loves his mother in many
ways. Erdrich explains that when Buddy tries to hug Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her
like a gorilla (17). Often, when children hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last
a lifetime. Sometimes when Buddy hugs his mother he would envision her saying, Let s get
married (17). Young children have a special bond with their parents and it isn t uncommon for a
child to want to marry one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child. Also, a child s
imagination can have a deeper darker side. Erdrich displays that Buddy would have times when he
wished that she [Albertine] would die (17). Buddy hates himself for thinking those thoughts
knowing that someday his wish could come true. He embraces

The Main Cause Of The American Civil War
The one main cause of the American Civil war must be resolved, and while there are many
ideas, history reveals that there was only one. There are many arguable motives to the start of
the Civil War, but there are four main concepts. These four concepts were slavery, taxation, the
election of Abraham Lincoln and lastly, struggling with power between the Northern and
Southern states. To start with, the end of slavery is undoubtedly one of the most popular
arguments to the creation of the Civil War. While many consider slavery as the cause of the
Civil War, they are mistaken (Historynet). To support this statement, the facts simply are that
slavery has been in our country ever since its formation. If slavery was the single cause of the
Civil War, that war would have begun long before it truly started in 1861. While the people saw
slavery as a great evil, they did not in fact go to war because of it (Historynet). Also great disputes
with slavery, that were big enough to start a war, did not appear until it had ended. The ending of
slavery infuriated the Southern states. The North wanted to tax the South because they were
becoming more profitable on cotton (Historynet). Slavery was not the issue, as slaves fought IN the
civil war for both the North and the South. Southern states saw the ending of slavery as the North
seizing dominant power and overriding the union (Historynet). Southern states thought the North
had no right to do this, and by doing so, Northern states were

European Exploration Religion
Exploration Essay
Religion was not a major reason for European exploration because many of the European traders
and travelers wanted to get rich by finding gold or some other valuable object, people wanted to
travel to another place because of their country s poverty, disease, or and economic backwardness,
and also that the Europeans started traveling more ever since their technology and navigation was
more developed.
First, there are valid evidences to support that economics were more important to travelers and
traders than religion. The first supporting evidence of this is, The rise of capitalism in Europe was
undoubtedly a powerful spur to the process. Merchants, adventures, and government officials had
high hopes of finding precious metals and expanding the areas of trade, especially for the spices of
the East. (Page 494) This evidence shows that Capitalism was a great spur to the Renaissance, and

The first supporting evidence for this statement is, Portugal was too poor and rocky to support
more than a modest agricultural economy. It lacked the commercial expertise and resources to

people wanted to travel to other places because Portugal was too poor and rocky for people to
support an agricultural economy. Another supporting evidence is, Europe was poorly endowed
with gold. Many mines which had formerly produced gold were now all but exhausted; much
gold had been lost to Europe through plunder and continuing trade with the East. (Page 13) The
analysis of this evidence is that Most of the gold was gone in Europe because the mines were
exhausted, and Europe exchanged much of their gold to Asia to get spices, and other goods.

Safe Spaces, Safer Spaces And Positive Spaces
According to Nicole C. Raeburn, ...safe spaces may seem like they are just now on trend when
actually they trace back to the feminist consciousness raising group from the 1960s and 1970s,
others to the gay and lesbian movement of the early 1990s. In most cases, safe spaces are
innocuous gatherings of like minded people who agree to refrain from ridicule, criticism or
what they term microaggressions subtle displays of racial or sexual bias so that everyone can
relax enough to explore the nuances of, say, a fluid gender identity. As long as all parties consent
to such restrictions, these little islands of self restraint seem like a perfectly fine idea. [1] Where
did the names safe spaces, safer spaces and positive spaces come from? Originally these terms
were used to indicate that a teacher, educational institution or student body does not tolerate anti
LGBT violence, harassment or hate speech. Safe spaces intend on protecting students that are
LBGTQIAPK, students of color, students who are victims of assault and sexual assault, students
who are veterans and disabled students. Safe spaces are an expression of the conviction,

In America, there is a judicial system that helps justice prevail, to punish criminals, and let the
innocent walk. The judicial system allows for there to be a trial where evidence is presented.
Through the evidence presented, the jury then decides if the person on trial is innocent or guilty.
Never in any trial, in any courthouse, under any judge would it be allowed for a murder to be
justified so that one could restore a relative s honor. However, this is not true in the location of
Chronicle of a Death Foretold, as the Vicario twins were found innocent due to legitimate case of

their sister s honor. Honor is incorporated throughout the entire novel in every character. I knew
what they were up to, and I didn t only agree, I never would have married him if he hadn t done
what a man should do (62). This was said by Prudencia Cotes, at this time she was the fiancГ©
of Pablo. Although this woman is his fiancГ©, and clearly loves him she couldn t marry a man
who didn t reclaim the honor of a relative. In the culture of the Vicario brother s defending their
family honor is not an option but a necessity of a man. This concept of necessity will be explored
later on. Also the town accepted this murder of Santiago Nasar. When the peoples of the town

A Separate Peace Finny Character Analysis
In adolescence, most of us eventually let go of some or most of the innocence we have. A rosy
outlook on life is normally reserved for childhood, yet it is what defines Phineas character in the
novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles. It defines him, even as a teenager, in his high school
years at Devon, an elite boarding school. Furthermore, his innocence defines his relationships with
others, particularly his friend and roommate, Gene. Finny wanted the world to be black and
white, and to see the very best in people, despite the complications he saw in life. It was a vital
part of who he was and the legacy that he left behind. Finny was a purist at heart, and disliked any
form of conflict, and both of these qualities caused miscommunication... Show more content on

Yet, even though that was a crucial part of who he was, he didn t actually realize how much he
ran truly ran from it. Phineas, ironically, tried to enlist in the war effort, despite his dislike of
combat and his broken leg. Yet, what he couldn t comprehend was that he wasn t cut out for
conflict. Gene explains this to Phineas, saying, Finny... Phineas, you wouldn t be any good in the
war, even if nothing had happened to your leg, (pg. 190). Finny was the kind of boy that didn t
engage in any form of hostility, and because of that, he wouldn t be suited for any situation
involving it. Gene was forced to realize this as well. Finny didn t have any form of malice within
him, he just didn t think that way. However, he did ultimately have to realize that there was conflict
in the world, and between him and Gene. That was the difficult part of never seeing anything as a
competition nor anyone as an enemy. Eventually, they both had to grow up, in their separate

Christiaan Barnard s Surgery
In 1967, surgeon Christiaan Barnard performed the first successful human heart transplant on 54
year old Louis Washkansky, a grocer living in South Africa. Despite Washkansky only living for
18 days post surgery, Barnard was instantly boosted to worldwide fame and praised for his
exceptional pioneering in the field of science. Prior to Barnard s procedure, heart transplants had
only been attempted on subhuman species such as frogs, dogs, cows, and chimpanzees. Following
his first success, Barnard continued practicing cardiovascular surgeryfor 16 years, until his
retirement in 1983. During this time, he performed many more successful transplants; his most
successful case was Dirk van Zyl, who lived for 23 years after his surgery, encouraging

Money, Luck, Love in Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence
The Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence is a story, which emphasizes the battered
relationship between a mother and her child. The author s work is known for its explorations of
human nature and illustrates the nature of materialism. The author employs techniques of the fairy
tale to moralize on the value of love and the dangers of the money. D.H. Lawrence presents an
upper class family that is destroyed by greed because they always felt like no matter how much
money they had, they always needed more. He tells the reader about the downfall of an upper
middle class family struggling to maintain appearances through habitual overspending. The author
displays the negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She had bonny children, yet she felt they had been thrust upon her, and she could not love them
(Lawrence 225). The quote creates an image of how cold the mother is towards her children.
Hester stops respecting and loving her husband, once he is unable to provide her with all her
extravagant taste. Hester blames their financial failure to her unlucky husband (Gordon 160). The
situation makes her grow bitter. Hester s priorities are obviously not her children but her greed,
which has made her unable to display any affection toward the children. The narrator tells the
reader about the feelings of the mother towards her children as she says, Only she herself knew
that at the center of her heart IS a hard little place that could not feel love, no, not for anybody
(Bloom 323). Along with that the author shows the situation that is arising everyday within their
family. For example, the mother had a small income, and a father had a small income, but not
nearly enough for a social position, which they had to keep up (Lawrence 221).
The author depicts a common demon the human race faces that is greed and society s need for
more possessions and money. This is projected throughout the story showing that Paul s family
enjoyed living in style yet always lived beyond their means. There is never enough money, causing
a great deal of anxiety in the house (Lawrence 221). The family believes that they are

Essay Dissociative Identity Disorder
Dissociative Identity Disorder
Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID, is defined as: The result of a marvelously creative defense
mechanism that a young child uses to cope with extremely overwhelming trauma (Hawkins, 2003,
p. 3). Ross describes DID in this way: In its childhood onset forms, the disorder is an effective
strategy for coping with a traumatic environment: It becomes dysfunctional because environmental
circumstances have changed by adulthood (1997, p, 62). What types of traumatic environments
are we talking about here? Often children who form DID are involved in some sort of abuse.
These types of abuses can be physical, sexual and even ritual. Such abuses are not meant for
children to have to endure, however, the mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The imagining is so intense, subjectively compelling, and adaptive, that the abused child
experiences dissociated aspects of herself as other people. (Ross, 1997, p 59)
However, DID is not as simple as it seems. There are some who believe that it is created by
therapists. Paul R. McHugh writes:
MPD like hystero epilepsy, is created by therapists. This formerly rare and disputed diagnosis
became popular after the appearance of several best selling books and movies. It is often based on
the crudest form of suggestion. (http://www.psycom.net/mchugh.html)
In fact there are many more certified psychiatrists in America who are in agreement with McHugh.
In a survey of 300 psychiatrists in 1999, 2/3 believed that DID should not be included in the DSM
IV (http://www.ycp.edu/besc/Journal2001/Article_2.htm). This is a staggering number, for a truly
remarkable psychological condition. In spite of these statistics these same people believed DID
should be a proposed diagnosis, because of skepticism.
In true cases of DID new identities are formed to enable the child to be sheltered from the reality of
abuse. This diagnosis of DID is considered to be the most severe type of DID by Ross. He views
DID as a multifaceted psychological condition. Consider the following chart, found on page 98 of
his book, Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Complexity Of Airplane Essay
The dream of flight is as old as mankind itself (Leonardo DaVinci, April 14, 1489)however, the
concept of an airplane is only a few centuries old. airplanes are the only vehicle that make
traveling hundreds of miles a task that can be done in just one to two hours. Trucks, boats or even
race cars can t even come close to the speed of the average commercial aircraft. The Complexity of
the plane dates back to many years of researching about the four forces and creating an aerodynamic
flight method(National Aeronautics Space Administration, 2006, Pg. 2). Leonardo DaVinciand the
Wright brothers were just a small few of the first plane pioneers.
The very first step made towards flight was Leonardo DiVinci s Ornithopter . TheOrnithopter was a
self propelled wing suit that attempted to mimic the flight of birds and bats.(Wright Brothers,
1999, Page 7) DaVinci wanted the device to allow people to propel themselves and allow them to

Drag is the force that pulls an airplane backwards. With too much drag an airplane will not be
able to fly forwards. However, with too little drag an airplane will not be able to correctly
balance.(NASA, 2015, Pg 17.) Although a plane tries to overcome drag, it actually creates
it.(Wright Brothers Int, 2001,) Anything that flies will create drag, the bigger the object the
more the drag. To overcome drag, an airplane is designed to be able to cut through the
air.(NASA, 2015, Pg 1.) The best example of this is in the wings. Wings on a plane tend to have
a design that is thin and sharp in the front and gets thicker as it moves down. Planes also have a
very sharp nose(very front tip of the plane) along with a pointed rudder (the tail of an
airplane).(NASA, 2015, Pg. 3)Having all of these pointed parts allows an airplane tominimise the

Deaf Immigrant Process
The immigration process is a tedious path to United States citizenship. Foreign citizens who want
to live permanently in the United States require a visa and multiple forms. United States law limits

process is very opaque. Now add the intricate layer of being deaf. Deaf immigrants face many
problems when immigrating to the U.S., along with adjusting to life in the U.S. In the 1880s the
Federal Government began to regulate who could enter the United States. The primary aim of
Congress was to exclude what they considered defectives or undesirables (Douglas 394). The

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Analysis
As I stated in the abstract, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is the unexpected death of a healthy
infant in its sleep usually under the age of one. It is also known as crib death because the death
usually occurs in the crib. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome claims the lives of approximately
2,500 infants each year. The majority of SIDS deaths occur between 2 and 4 month year olds.
The cause of SIDS is unknown in infants under one, but for infants over the age of one, there is a
cause. A few of the causes of SIDS include: smoking or drinking during pregnancy, inadequate
prenatal responsibility, prematurity, inexperienced mothers, smoking near or around the baby,
enormous amounts of heating from blankets or pajamas, and placing a baby on its stomach (Floyd
R. Livingston Jr., MD. Sudden InfantDeath Syndrome. KidsHealth. 2014. Web).
The reason why the cause is unknown in infants less than one year old is due to the fact that a
thorough investigation cannot be performed since the baby is too young. If, however, the baby is
over one year, there can be an investigation. This usually includes an autopsy, a thorough
investigation of the death, and an examination of the infant s health. Also, another cause of SIDS
can include suffocation of the baby. This usually happens when the ... Show more content on

They say the child needs to know all the material before they can advance. This may be true
however, holding an elementary student back will not benefit the student in any way.
Elementary students all learn in different ways, they may just need a different teacher or they
need to learn in a different way. Most schools are so focused making the children memorize what
they need to know for end of the year assessments , but some children can not learn by
memorization, so they just need to be taught in a different way not to be held back a whole year.
Elementary school is a prime time for learning all types of different things and learning who they

so many better options for a child other than holding them back a grade.Kids will learn and grow

Free Trade Is A Basic Sense, Trade
Free trade is in a basic sense, trade where there are no restrictions put upon the exports and imports
between countries. Although the idea of free trade is complicated and has many facets, there are
ways to break it down into something more easily understood. Some countries have free trade with
other countries, but others have policies limiting exports and import in order to protect the
employment and economy of their country. Other obstacles to free tradecan be barriers on export
amounts, and import quotas. Trying to understand the complexities of international tradecan be
difficult, but the book by Pietra Rivoli, The Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy, helps to
focus the concepts on a single item, making it easier to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to help generate actual free trade people in a country need access to markets that is not
controlled and regulated and also to the information for other markets. In order to start working
towards free trade agreements need to be developed that help remove barriers and actually
promote free trade between countries. Many Americans and American companies are bothered
and worried about cheap clothing and labor from China and the impact it may have on the textile
companies in America. This is nothing new according to the book The Travels of a T Shirt in the
Global Economy. Rivoli explains that these concerns about Chinese products and labor are similar
to the concerns voiced by the British concerning cheap Indian cotton. As seen by the past concerns,
they are not true concerns, but rather false ideas spread by fear and the need for many people in a
country to control the political aspect.
Advantages and Disadvantages
The advantages of free trade between nations are numerous. If two nations have a specialized
product they produce, they can each offer the product to other countries at a low price. If two of
thee countries are trading with each other, both of them benefit from the ability to trade free of
restrictions. Free trade making prices lower can also help the people that buy the products. For
instance, if products come from countries with free trade and

Gender Stereotypes In Macbeth
Gender stereotypes are bound by the societal norms of what it means to be a man and a woman.
As a playwright ahead of his time, Shakespeare exhibits a feminist perspective in Macbeth by
scrutinizing gender roles and the parts they play in society. In Shakespeare s eleventh century
tragedy Macbeth, after Macbethreceives a life altering prophecy by the Weird Sisters, Lady
Macbeth successfully achieves her goal of becoming the Queen of Scotland by manipulating her
one recourse to greatness, her husband Macbeth. This experience is one that alters Macbeth and
Lady Macbeth s genderroles and, consequently, leads to their demise. Through the fall of its two
central characters, Macbeth illustrates deleterious gender stereotypes such as the traditional ideas
of masculinity and femininity that persist in society today.
In the beginning of Macbeth, Macbeth carries far more feminine characteristics than Lady
Macbeth herself, contradicting the traditional gender stereotypes of eleventh century Scotland.
Following the Weird Sisters prophecy that Macbeth will one day sit upon the throne, Macbeth
strifes with his task of killing King Duncan. This frightens Macbeth as in an early soliloquy, he
proclaims, let not light see my black and deep desires. / The eye wink at the hand; yet let that be
(1.4.58 60). Though Macbeth is aware of what he must do, he is hesitant to commit King Duncan
s murder, as he was once a steadfast combat warrior for King Duncan. A wounded captain reports
to King Duncan that Macbeth unseamed [Macdonwald] from the nave to th chops, / And fix d his
head upon our battlements[,] Duncan exclaims, O valiant cousin, worthy gentleman! (1.2.24 26).
This confirms that Macbeth would go as far as brutally murdering another individual, specifically
Macdonwald, the leader of the Norwegian forces in battle, to pledge his loyalty to Scotland. when
pondering whether or not to murder Duncan, Macbeth reassesses, I am his kinsman and his subject,
/ Strong both against the deed; then, as his host, / Who should against his murderer shut the door,
/ Not bear the knife myself (1.7.14 16). By hesitating to kill King Duncan, Macbeth indicates
weakness in his ability to murder; far from his actions on the battlefield,

Odyssey Death and Rebirth in the Odyssey
The Odyssey, by Homer, is a classical piece of Greek literature. Throughout
The Odyssey, the Blind Bard makes use of many literary techniques in order
to lend meaning to the poem beyond its existence as a work of historic fiction
and aid his readers in the comprehension of the tale. One of these techniques
is the use of motifs. A motif is a recurring theme that is used throughout the
work. In The Odyssey, Homer makes use of many motifs including
eating/drinking, Odysseus s anger, bathing, and disguise, just to name a few.
However, perhaps the most important of Homer s motifs is the symbolic death
and rebirth theme. This motif is used throughout The Odyssey to emphasize

Cyclops, if
any mortal man ever asks you who it was that inflicted upon your eye this
shameful blinding, tell him that you were blinded by Odysseus, sacker of cities
(IX. 502 4). The symbolic rebirth of Odysseus can be emphasized by the
cave, which can be seen as a symbol of the womb, therefore making
Odysseus emergence from the cyclops s cave a true rebirth. The next
example of the death and rebirth motif is a rather obvious one that needs little
symbolic inference: Odysseus s descent into the underworld in book XI. Homer
uses many light and dark references to emphasize the death and rebirth
theme in this book darkness symbolizing death and light symbolizing life and
therefore rebirth. . . .how is it then, unhappy man, you have left the sunlight
and come here to look on dead men, and this place without pleasure? (XI.
93 4). While in the underworld, Odysseus gains insights about his eventual
return home. With this knowledge, Odysseus and his crew return to the world
of the living, symbolizing their rebirth. Again, light and dark images are used to
emphasize this rebirth. . . .where Helios, the sun, makes his uprising . . . (XII.
4). As illustrated in the preceding line, Odysseus returns from the Underworld
to the place where the sun rises the symbolism is obvious. The

  • 2. Drones In Sports 1.Introduction It is the year 2016, and the word drone, or UAS, seems to be a popular one these days. These unmanned aircraft systems are versatile pieces of technology that have an innumerable amount of purposes, from agriculture to law enforcement and everything else in between. One interesting aspect of UAS is their use in sports broadcasting. As with anything, this can have positive points and draw backs. Think of the aerial shots one could capture of any given sporting event. What about the perspective of a coach who wants to use a UAS from a recruitment or practice standpoint? Those are all well thought of ideas, but there is always a catch. Safety seems to be an issue that is usually brought up when drones are being discussed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sports have not changed, but the various ways to gather information has with the new technology of drones. Safety is a huge concern, especially when it comes to sports and flying over large crowds of people. The FAA 333 Exemption is something broadcasters need to be aware of whether they re flying for a TV event or even just coaching. Looking into the future of the UAS industry, the progress of technology will take some time but should improve safety measures. Linear Technologies Essay Case 1 Linear Technologies Group 15 2006120001 к№Ђн „м„ 2006120124 мќґ 진 2007120155 к№Ђм§„н „ 2007120262 к№ЂнљЁм„ Three main issues arise when it comes to dividend policy in firms. The first issue is whether dividend is needed or not and the second issue is regarding which one would be the best option among various payout methods. Lastly, the third issue is about dividend rate. Whether these issues will affect corporate values has been debated over the years. This paper will talk about such issues through the case study of Linear Technology. 1. Why dividend is needed. Linear Technology s payout policy, unlike many competitors in the Semiconductor Industry, has a relatively large portion in dividends. Linear has provided steady dividends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the firm s stocks are growth stocks, the cash used to repurchase stocks lacks the opportunity of generating high cash flows. Accordingly, the market price would result in decreased future earnings, EPS, and the firm value of Linear. The number of outstanding shares, instead of the price, will decrease. While the price of stock would increase just as the amount of cash paid out to repurchase the outstanding stocks. It is important that in both cases, earnings and earnings per share before the payment are not affected. 3. About the dividend rate Firms judge the rate of dividend initiations by earnings. However, simply put, if dividend rate changes depending on the change of earnings, the fluctuation of dividend will increase. This would not be good. Because cutting dividends means uncertain future cash flows. If a company cuts dividend rate, shareholders will need higher opportunity costs of capital, as a result stock prices will go down. Thus, Linear has retained constantly increasing dividend rates in small amounts. Under the theoretical assumptions such as M M, there is no difference whether firms pay out dividends or not. And if the cost of capital is lower than a firm s ROE, no dividend can raise a firm s value. However, considering the real life factors, firms should keep on steady level of dividend rate or repurchasing shares. Repurchasing shares seems to be a better solution. As a ... • 4. A Doll s House And The Glass Menagerie Symbolism is frequently used in dramatic works to represent abstract ideas and qualities, potentially in the form of people, objects, places, or actions. Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie each include various symbols to represent the social messages that the authors are trying to convey to the audience. In A Doll s House, the central character, Nora Helmer, can be seen as a symbolherself. Her family and her husband treat her like a doll, and this oppression and condescension is the reason for her inner unhappiness and longing for independence. As well, Ibsen also focuses on the solo dance that Nora performs the Tarantella. This dance emphasizes Nora s feelings of separation and isolation from her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of the fire escape is pronounced right at the beginning of the play: The apartment faces an alley and is entered by a fire escape, a structure whose name is a touch of accidental poetic truth, for all of these huge buildings are always burning with slow and implacable fires of human desperation (Williams 1). The fire escape is used by all of the characters to ordinarily enter and exit the apartment, but it is also a means of escape. Laura Wingfield suffers from a bad leg that makes her incapable of leaving her home. Since it is too difficult for her to use the stairs of the fire escape to leave, she prefers the safety of the apartment. The one time Laura returns from the store and uses the fire escape she trips on the stairs, clearly demonstrating how vulnerable she is in the outside world, and how greatly she is bound to her private world within the apartment. Conversely, Tom Wingfield, Laura s brother, wants nothing more than to follow in his father s footsteps and leave his family behind. He frequently uses the fire escape to go out and smoke, which shows just how much he dislikes life inside of the apartment, and foreshadows his eventual getaway. Williams hints at escape throughout the entire play, highlighting it as one of the key themes. Tom is constantly comparing the loyalty he feels towards his mother and sister versus his true longing to leave home and be free of the confines of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With corrupted politicians taking place; is making the citizens live their lives ruled by twisted people. One of the big themes in A Tale of Two Cities is oppression and violence, which is making life difficult for those who are innocent and want to live their life without pain as the corrupt government ends up making everyone feel suffering. Politics is a main contributor to oppression and violence as they tend to care more about themselves. The politicians are pleasing those who are in a high social class than those who are in a lower social class such as the poor. In George Orwell s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The government in Syria led by President Assad uses excess force and treats their people in a inhumane and uncivil as all the rights of the people are being taken away; in such an unjust and violent way, which continues to separate the population and cause more uneasiness between the people as they don t know what will happen. In A Tale of Two Citiesthe citizens are forced to abide by the rules set by the French government, with these rules set; if a person breaks them they might be arrested and sent to prison with ever being able to prove their innocence in a trial or even be sentenced to a death penalty which keeps the citizens afraid from doing anything to fight back. a law of the Suspected, which struck away all security for liberty or life, and delivered over any good and innocent person to any bad and guilty one; prisons gorged with people who had committed no offense, and could obtain no hearing. In this section, LES via vortex method was utilized to investigate the inflow wind velocity fluctuations on the pressure distribution over the roof surface of TTU full scale building. In total, the results of three CFD LES cases are presented in this section as follows: (1) CFD LES at location 7 (TI=25%, TLS=10m); (2) CFD LES at location 7 (TI=30%, TLS=15m); (3) CFD LES at location 3 (TI=25%, TLS=10m). According to the Figure 15 and Figure 16, the results show that the roof peak pressure contours of a full scale building simulated by the developed CFD LES model 1 at location 7 with input parameters of TI=25%, and TLS=10m are very similar to the TTU full scale field measurements. This is again another proof that if an accurate turbulence closure, like LES, and appropriate inlet velocity fluctuations (for instance using vortex method with tuned input parameters) are implemented in CFD, the numerical model can be utilized for appropriate estimation of peak and standard deviation of pressure distributions on low rise buildings within the numerical model. In addition, in all three CFD LES models, high negative pressure values (suction effects) were observed near the corner and edges of the windward side of the roof similar to the TTU field data which are the spots on the roof that separation bubbles start developing in a fluctuating manner. Identifying the extend of these regions will help to design appropriate mitigation features for surpassing the high suctions at corner and edges on the roof. Figure 15 (c) and Figure 16 (c) show that reproducing peak pressures in wind tunnel is, however, a big challenge due to its limitation to correctly reproduce important flow characteristics and inherent scale issue with ... • 8. Fans And Fandom Traditionally, the topic of fans and fandom has been well researched throughout popular culture media. Various studies have been conducted to discover the relationship between constructed popular media and its impact on society and the concept of fans and fandom represent a positive relationship between the two. The positive relationship, between fans and popular culture, can be examined through the work of Bourdieu whom uncovered how culture distinctions are classed in nature in order to legitimize a class hierarchy (Gray Murray, 2016, p.358). To make popular media exclusive, researcher Stuart Hall (1999) discovered that the creators of popular media encoded their own beliefs, values, norms and/or experiences into the media content that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though anti fans do not support popular culture economically, researcher Dallas Smythe (2006) revels that anti fans are knowledgeable individuals based on their experiences undergone throughout childhood to adulthood (p.244). Using personal experiences, anti fans engage in semiotic and enunciative productivity, as author Fiske (1989) quotes, where anti fans use their own personal experiences to interpret, comprehend and articulate the popular media content (p.37). Armed with their personal experiences, researcher Jonathan Gray (2003) documents that anti fans are able to interpret the popular culture being produced and construct a recreation that is suitable for their reaction, and in doing so, react negatively to the popular media content (p.71). In choosing to adapt the popular media content, researcher Gray (2003) discovers that anti fans find a concept that they wholeheartedly dislike and invest great amount of effort and time to express this displeasure; ultimately allowing them to be active members in popular culture discourse (p.71). An example of this can be seen in the anti fandom community that has been created against the Fifty Shades of Grey series. Research conducted into the anti fandom community surrounding the displeasure towards the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy unveils that distaste in a popular culture media can produce various distinctions, with each anti fan having an interpretation, and input, towards what makes the popular culture unpopular (Harman Jones, 2013,p.962). According to the researchers Harman Jones (2013), the various distinctions that arise in anti fan discourse is proof towards exemplifying how anti fans are active members in production and circulation of popular culture (p.963). An Analysis of Employee Rights vs. Employer Rights An Analysis of Employee Rights vs. Employer Rights BSAD 319 Professional Ethics 4/29/2012 When comparing the granted rights of employees versus employers, it does not truly seem that either party has the advantage. These factors can often vary depending on state laws and regulations, and it appears when consulting these laws, that there are many loopholes due to the gray areas that accompany behavioral legal situations. There are many occurrences of foul play, stereotyping and opinionated biases that seem to have caused and shaped these existing laws. Very much like the medical field now, it seems that many employers have taken tedious extra precautions in order to avoid legislation with what may be disgruntled past employees.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be interpreted unfairly, due to the fact that many things ingested by the human body can appear to be harmful on a urine test. This inaccuracy paired with human lab errors in the analysis stage can lead to problems for an employee, for no legitimate reason. As stated in an article published by the American Civil Liberties Union, The lab procedure is a second invasion of privacy. Urinalysis reveals not only the presence of illegal drugs, but also the existence of many other physical and medical conditions, including genetic predisposition to disease or pregnancy. In 1988, the Washington, D.C. Police Department admitted it used urine samples collected for drug tests to screen female employees for pregnancy without their knowledge or consent. Furthermore, human error in the lab, or the test s failure to distinguish between legal and illegal substances, can make even a small margin of error add up to a huge potential for false positive results. (American Civil Liberties Union, 1997.) The disclosure of pregnancy is a very difficult topic for women in the workplace. It is one of the reasons that women have been unable to attain the same status of men in a professional setting, and it is still one of the reasons why women are not making the same salary amounts statistically, as most men. • 10. The Concepts Of Marketing And Marketing Marketing deals with people s emotions and feelings, it also includes knowledge about the buyer s psychology, his motives, attitudes, as well as influences of his family, groups of friends, and culture. To increase advertisements persuasiveness, advertisers can use various means, such as the theory of cognitive dissonance The elements of the marketing process are referred to as a set of controllable tools that the firm blends to produce the response it wants in the target market The marketing process contains four steps. These four steps are all completed with the objective of creating value for your target customers. Some elements of the steps are executed continuously, for example monitoring the marketing environment. A few are done annually, that include the annual development of a marketing communications plan. Lastly, some of the steps, if done correctly, ought to last for decades, such as segmentation, targeting, and positioning. (According J. Hargrave, 2010) The Elements of Marketing or Marketing mix which is famously known as the 4P s of Marketing (stated by McCarthy in 1960) Product, Price, Placement or Place and Promotion Product The first of the Four Ps of marketing is product. In the past decade, international conflicts, social oppression and civil wars have generated 16 million refugees worldwide, with approximately 500,000 refugees being resettled in the United States (Kira and Tummala Narra, 2014, p. 449). According to current research, 82% of the increase in population between the years of 2005 to 2050 will be attributed to immigrants arriving in this time (Chang Muy and Congress, 2015, p. 71). As part of the ethical responsibilities of a social worker, advocacy on the behalf of clients is something that needs to be emphasized when working with immigrant and refugee populations. There have been a significant amount of legislative changes that have been made on both the federal and state levels within the past ten years, such as the recent ninety day ban of individuals coming from 7 predominantly Muslim nations (Healy, 2017, p. 247). A significant amount of the work that is done by social workers with refugee individuals and families takes place either in temporary settings with limited resources following armed conflicts and ethnic cleansing events (Soliman and Gillespie, 2011, p. 789). The journey will happen beginning with successes and triumphs that will come to the shaping of who they are to become. One can simply presume that the occurrence taking place in the world would have a strong impact on how an adolescent comes of age. The tale Old Chief Mshlanga focuses on the main character, the protagonist known as she or little Nkosikaas her encounter with an African chieftain that causes her to see the differences between her people and the natives of the land they reside. The author, Doris Lessing, uses the protagonist to show radically changing attitudes towards the Old Chief Mshlanga. At the age of fourteen, the nameless protagonist meets Old Chief Mshlanga on a walk with her dogs, a native tribal leader who used to own the whole area. The chief s pride and respect make the girl gingerly change her opinion of natives and reconsider her prejudiced vision and idea. As a result, she begins to be more pleasant towards the natives she encounters. The girl s inner characterization resembles a coming of age character. She develops because of the action and her traits as a child are presented in contrast with her traits as a teenager. This contrast is emphasized using the third person narrator at the beginning of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This perspective was founded by Watson, who wanted to revolutionize the study of human psychology in order to put it on firm experimental footing. (http://www.iep.utm.edu/behavior/) Behaviorism shows the chemical responses in our brain are triggered by the external part of our bodies. For example, behaviorismexplains why we feel pleasure when we gamble, drink, smoke. Our body releases endorphins which allows us to feel pleasure from doing these things. The first time you feel the rush of gambling is what makes you want to keep gambling, even if it is not in your best interest. One of the pioneers of the behaviorism perspective was John B. Watson. He was born to a poor family in Greenville, South Carolina. When Watson was 13, his father left due to a drinking problem and his countless affairs. Watson went to the University of Chicago, which sparked his interest in behavior. He saw psychology as the study of people s actions with the ability to predict and control those actions. • 17. Review Of Blake Standring Blake Standring Outliers Analysis Through a series of different tests, Gladwell concludes that we have all too easily bought into the myth that successful people are self made. He says people are invariably the beneficiaries of hidden advantages and extraordinary opportunities and cultural legacies that allow them to learn and work hard and make sense of the world in ways others cannot. Gladwell explains an outlier as a person who doesn t fit into our normal understanding of achievement. According to Gladwell, great men and women are beneficiaries of specialization, collaboration, time, and place. An outlier s recipe for successis not personally achieved through hard work, but through opportunity and time on task. I actually agree with Gladwell s view of success. People can work their whole life towards a goal and never achieve it, but if they know of an opportunity, a legacy, or a specific way to achieve this goal more efficiently, they can be successful. Examples are children being born in the early months to be better at hockey, working on a specific task for 10,000 hours to become proficient, and proper training and excellent communication while flying an airplane. First, we take a look at the 2007 Medicine Hat Tigers roster. Canadian psychologist, Roger Barnsley first drew attention to the phenomenon of relative age. The geographic feature of this country gives the solar energy an advantage over other sources like wind and geothermal power especially that the latter require many wires, cords, and power sources. Solar energy is induced with the help of solar panels. These panels convert the sun s rays into electricity by exciting electrons in silicone cells using the photons of light from the sun. In other words, sunlight is composed of miniscule particles called photons, which radiate from the sun. As these hit the silicone atoms of the solar panels or cells, they transfer their energy to loose electrons. Then, solar cells need to herd these electrons into an electric current (Physics. org, n.d.). Consequently, the solar energy needs only sun rays to become beneficial and practical for everyday use. The solar panels installation isn t complicated at all since there is no need of wires and power sources. This makes installing solar panels in areas where there are no power cables tremendously easy. Throughout the story there are femalecharacters who represent the growth that women at that time were making however, this growth is slow and I believe it is not yet finished even today. In this case, Buddy wants to stay with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise Erdrich s short story, American Horse, shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be present in less than ideal circumstances.В° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla, when he feels the satin roses, and the emergency chocolate bar.* Buddy s relationship with his mother seems very strong. • 34. The Main Cause Of The American Civil War The one main cause of the American Civil war must be resolved, and while there are many ideas, history reveals that there was only one. There are many arguable motives to the start of the Civil War, but there are four main concepts. These four concepts were slavery, taxation, the election of Abraham Lincoln and lastly, struggling with power between the Northern and Southern states. To start with, the end of slavery is undoubtedly one of the most popular arguments to the creation of the Civil War. While many consider slavery as the cause of the Civil War, they are mistaken (Historynet). To support this statement, the facts simply are that slavery has been in our country ever since its formation. If slavery was the single cause of the Civil War, that war would have begun long before it truly started in 1861. While the people saw slavery as a great evil, they did not in fact go to war because of it (Historynet). Also great disputes with slavery, that were big enough to start a war, did not appear until it had ended. The ending of slavery infuriated the Southern states. • 35. European Exploration Religion Exploration Essay Religion was not a major reason for European exploration because many of the European traders and travelers wanted to get rich by finding gold or some other valuable object, people wanted to travel to another place because of their country s poverty, disease, or and economic backwardness, and also that the Europeans started traveling more ever since their technology and navigation was more developed. First, there are valid evidences to support that economics were more important to travelers and traders than religion. The first supporting evidence of this is, The rise of capitalism in Europe was undoubtedly a powerful spur to the process. Merchants, adventures, and government officials had high hopes of finding precious metals and expanding the areas of trade, especially for the spices of the East. Raeburn, ...safe spaces may seem like they are just now on trend when actually they trace back to the feminist consciousness raising group from the 1960s and 1970s, others to the gay and lesbian movement of the early 1990s. In most cases, safe spaces are innocuous gatherings of like minded people who agree to refrain from ridicule, criticism or what they term microaggressions subtle displays of racial or sexual bias so that everyone can relax enough to explore the nuances of, say, a fluid gender identity. As long as all parties consent to such restrictions, these little islands of self restraint seem like a perfectly fine idea. [1] Where did the names safe spaces, safer spaces and positive spaces come from? Originally these terms were used to indicate that a teacher, educational institution or student body does not tolerate anti LGBT violence, harassment or hate speech. Safe spaces intend on protecting students that are LBGTQIAPK, students of color, students who are victims of assault and sexual assault, students who are veterans and disabled students. Safe spaces are an expression of the conviction, increasingly prevalent amount college students, that their schools should keep them from being bombarded by discomforting or distressing viewports. Ross describes DID in this way: In its childhood onset forms, the disorder is an effective strategy for coping with a traumatic environment: It becomes dysfunctional because environmental circumstances have changed by adulthood (1997, p, 62). The majority of SIDS deaths occur between 2 and 4 month year olds. The cause of SIDS is unknown in infants under one, but for infants over the age of one, there is a cause. • 53. Gender Stereotypes In Macbeth Gender stereotypes are bound by the societal norms of what it means to be a man and a woman. As a playwright ahead of his time, Shakespeare exhibits a feminist perspective in Macbeth by scrutinizing gender roles and the parts they play in society. In Shakespeare s eleventh century tragedy Macbeth, after Macbethreceives a life altering prophecy by the Weird Sisters, Lady Macbeth successfully achieves her goal of becoming the Queen of Scotland by manipulating her one recourse to greatness, her husband Macbeth. This experience is one that alters Macbeth and Lady Macbeth s genderroles and, consequently, leads to their demise. Through the fall of its two central characters, Macbeth illustrates deleterious gender stereotypes such as the traditional ideas of masculinity and femininity that persist in society today. In the beginning of Macbeth, Macbeth carries far more feminine characteristics than Lady Macbeth herself, contradicting the traditional gender stereotypes of eleventh century Scotland. Following the Weird Sisters prophecy that Macbeth will one day sit upon the throne, Macbeth strifes with his task of killing King Duncan. This frightens Macbeth as in an early soliloquy, he proclaims, let not light see my black and deep desires. / The eye wink at the hand; yet let that be (1.4.58 60). Though Macbeth is aware of what he must do, he is hesitant to commit King Duncan s murder, as he was once a steadfast combat warrior for King Duncan. A wounded captain reports to King Duncan that Macbeth unseamed [Macdonwald] from the nave to th chops, / And fix d his head upon our battlements[,] Duncan exclaims, O valiant cousin, worthy gentleman! This confirms that Macbeth would go as far as brutally murdering another individual, specifically Macdonwald, the leader of the Norwegian forces in battle, to pledge his loyalty to Scotland. when pondering whether or not to murder Duncan, Macbeth reassesses, I am his kinsman and his subject, / Strong both against the deed; then, as his host, / Who should against his murderer shut the door, / Not bear the knife myself (1.7.14 16).
