The document introduces Kemp's total cost of ownership (TCO) calculator, which allows users to compare the licensing costs of Kemp's metered licensing model against perpetual and competitive licensing models. It provides three common application usage scenarios - peak usage, steady growth, and on-demand - to model licensing costs over time. The TCO calculator aims to give users insight into their estimated licensing costs for their application infrastructure based on factors like required application delivery controller (ADC) capacity and quantity, traffic growth rates, and usage peaks.
Application Delivery Fabric for Next Gen EnterpriseKemp

Autoscaling Confluent Cloud: Should We? How Would We?HostedbyConfluent
"Although cloud-based, managed Kafka offerings abstract away most administrative responsibilities, a few admin-related concerns remain––like cluster scaling. When is scaling your cloud-based Kafka appropriate? And how should you set it up to auto-scale?
Gone are the days of over-provisioning resources to meet expected demand. Technologies like kubernetes make it relatively simple to implement strategies around both horizontal and vertical scaling. Cloud providers give users the ability to track their resource utilization and set up autoscaling groups and policies. Cloud administrators use these tools (and others) to guarantee their applications can handle the demands placed on them. With Kafka being a central pillar of our cloud-native data pipelines it requires administrators to determine if, when and how to scale Kafka as their workloads ebb and flow.
In this session, we’ll explore the topic of auto-scaling by implementing a strategy for Confluent Cloud resources. We’ll first discuss common use cases that dictate a need to create a scaling strategy for Confluent Cloud and introduce the approaches best suited for each use case. With a nod to both where we came from and where we are going, we will discuss the architecture of Confluent Cloud and how it affects the way we scale Kafka. Attendees will learn how to deal with ephemeral workloads, what to monitor for when creating an auto-scaling policy, and the “gotchas” of auto-scaling in Confluent Cloud. We will also discuss best practices for scaling Kafka clients, because Kafka is only as scalable as the client applications that connect to it.
We will dive into code that examines these approaches and by the end of the session, you’ll have the tools needed to design and implement your own scaling strategy for your Confluent Cloud workloads."
Cloud computing is on-demand, integrated, configured, ready to use combination of compute, storage, network, platform and application software available as a standardized set of service offerings on a pay-as-you-use pricing model.
How to Make Your Move to the Cloud with ConfidenceCloud Spectator
Choosing the right Cloud provider is crucial to the success of your organization. The stability and performance of critical applications; and infrastructure cost management are two of the most pressing concerns for the modern CIO. But selecting the right IaaS provider can be a daunting task, especially considering that price-performance of seemingly similar VM's between providers varies so dramatically.
Because of price and performance discrepancies throughout the industry, you run the risk of grossly over-paying for your infrastructure. Learn how Cloud benchmarking of your applications on the leading Cloud providers can ensure that you're not overpaying for your services. Find out how we helped a client in the Oil and Gas industry save over $1.8M per year in infrastructure costs (a 47% savings) by identifying the actual projected cost of running their applications on the shortlist of providers.
Use cloud performance benchmarking to help you select the right Cloud provider for your specific workloads, or risk the possibility of over-spending on under-performing servers.

Microsoft DirectAccess Remote Access (VPN) with Windows 10 and Server 2012Kemp
Microsoft DirectAccess is a VPN like remote access technology that is a core component of the Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Access role. DirectAccess is a unique solution that is designed to replace traditional VPN access. It provides secure, seamless, transparent and always-on remote access to corporate networks for clients running Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8.1 Enterprise, and now, Windows 10.
Windows 10 support is welcome as over half of the 110 million managed Microsoft clients in Enterprise deployments have adopted the latest release. Eager as they are to get the new features Windows 10 offers, such as the new improved Start menu, the modern Edge web browser, Cortana – the intelligent personal assistant, Windows Hello authentication, and many other improvements.
DirectAccess provides these advantages over most traditional VPN solutions:
- Active Directory Domain joined client computers connect automatically rather than connections being user initiated
- Connections seamlessly work through all firewalls
- Supports selected server access when connected
- Can use IPSEC authentication to corporate servers
- Supports end to end encryption of the connection
- Provides transparent failover to another corporate network access point or site if required
- Supports offline domain join for clients that have never been on the corporate network
-Allows central IT staff to manage the remote computers over the DirectAccess connection
The integration with standard corporate Domains and the ability to manage clients remotely is very compelling especially for maintaining a client population that is remote and mobile with users who seldom connect directly to a corporate network.
Windows 10 and DirectAccess work really well in concert to provide a true remote access solution for Windows based clients. One that users will not have to struggle with, and one that IT and security staff can be confident about using.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
