the Ugly on LinkedIn
9/14/2019 The Breakfast Club - LinkedIn 3
4. Good
• Emphasis on content sharing
• Use of ‘#’ and ‘@’ signs along with the
option how you want to share updates
• Relaunch of Events platform
• QR code as connection tool
• Commute info on LI jobs

5. Bad
Groups relaunch
Lack of meaningful communication from
LinkedIn
Elimination of email address on downloads
without any notice
Reduction in personalized connection
request invites – This is rolling out now
Constant settings changes without notice
9/14/2019 The Breakfast Club - LinkedIn 5
6. Ugly
• Constant tinkering of LinkedIn platform
• Here today, moved tomorrow
• Different ‘like’ options – this isn’t Facebook
• SPAM – so many fake connection
requests and content
• Constantly changing algorithms – check
out Andy Foote’s FB group
• Limits to searching

7. Sharing article with # and ‘@’
9/14/2019 The Breakfast Club - LinkedIn 7
Find an article of interest, cut/paste on your Home Page, use ‘@’ to tag people
you want to see the article and a ‘#’ to be added to a relevant community. You
can also create your own hashtag much like Twitter
8. Personalize your connection
request on Mobile
9/14/2019 The Breakfast Club - LinkedIn 8
To personalize on Mobile, don’t select ‘Connect.’ First select View Full Profile
and you’ll see the ‘More’ option along with other options. Some profiles may
have the right screen as an option first – depends on their setting.
9. Mobile connection - next
9/14/2019 The Breakfast Club - LinkedIn 9
After selecting, More’ you’ll see these options on the left. By selecting
‘Personalize invite’ you can personalize the invite and then send it
10. Still need help? Tweet
9/14/2019 The Breakfast Club - LinkedIn 10
This may seem a bit
counterintuitive but LinkedIn is
much more response on Twitter at
@LinkedInHelp than in any other
way. Go there sometime to see
what issues others are having
