Task 7
The Member Must Be Heard – Sample Script Example
1. SFX: Cheering of a crowd
2. Narrator: From the point Emma was elected, she regularly questioned
the Government until October 2010 when she became part of the
opposition front bench as a Shadow Junior Minister for Foreign and
Commonwealth Affairs. Was you surprised of how quickly you managed
to progress up your party?
3. Emma Reynolds MP: I personally didn’t expect to have been on the
frontbench that quickly as at that stage, I intended to focus on my
constituents for at least another several months. However when the call
came I thought it was a chance not to have turned down. And my time on
the frontbench was a huge
4. Narrator: I guess as well as you having to adjust really quickly to your
promotion, you had to also get used to the wall of noise made by
members on all sides. Did you and still do you feel now intimidated by the
racket being made by fellow colleagues?
5. Atmospheric Sound: Noise of jeering and shouting people
6. Emma Reynolds: The noise made by others honestly sometimes gets on
my nerves but is justifiable at some points. I say this as my party rightfully
opposes some horrendous policies by the government, which affects
everyday folks like you and me.
