Images sourced from books:
Advantages of sourcing images this way:
The images that you are scanning in from book may not be available on the
internet. This is also useful for when you want to scan in drawings and photos
etc. as it means that you have more variety from how you source your images.
Another advantage is that the file size doesn’t take up a lot of memory and
depending on the clarity of the images to start with, this can mean that you have
a decent image that doesn’t use as much room as a JPEG.
Disadvantages of sourcing images this way:
Sometimes the images can come out with quite bad quality, this is because if
you are trying to copy an image from a book, it is quite hard to get the
positioning right in order to get a decent copy of the image, especially if the
book is hard back as it won’t go flat enough to scan the image properly.
There can also be a lot of noise in the images if there are a lot of dark colours in
it.
Images sourced from google images:
Advantages of sourcing images this way:
There is a wide variety of choice of images and the quality you can copy them.
This can help when trying to illustrate an article or show what you are talking
about.
Disadvantages of sourcing images this way:
Sometimes there aren’t images that you want or that can help you, this can be
due to the quality being poor, it not being taken at the right angle or a variety of
other reasons.
Sometimes there are watermarks on photos so that you can’t use them unless
you buy/get the rights to use that image.

Images sourced from copyright free site:
Advantages of sourcing images this way:
By getting images this way, you know that the quality is going to be of a higher
standard than just copying straight from the internet, this is because you have to
buy the stock images download them.
Disadvantages of sourcing images this way:
You have to buy the images to get rid of the watermarks.
They are available for anyone to use so therefore more people are more likely
to use the same images.
Images sourced from your own existing images:
Advantages of sourcing images this way:
They are original images so this means that only you have access to them.
It means that you can use the exact images you need for things like articles etc.
Disadvantages of sourcing images this way:
You have to spend more time taking the images than if you were to source them
from the internet.
They take up more space when storing them unlike when you get them from the
internet.

Original image:
Cropped image:
Scaled images:
A4
A5
A6
Resolution image:
300dpi for print
72dpi for web
Advantages of different resolutions:
By having different resolutions, it means that you can take up less space if you
wanted to by having a lower resolution image.
It also means that depending on how big the image needs to be, you can get an
image resolution to fit the space. For example, if the image needed to be bigger
in order to fit a larger space, you would use a high resolution image so that you
can see it clearly.
Disadvantages of different resolutions:
When sourcing the images from the internet, you can’t always tell what the
image quality is straight away and also copying and pasting the images reduces
the quality of it marginally as well.
Manipulated image with appropriate caption:
Linear Farming- Taking the World by Storm.
Explain the changes you made to the image and explain why you made
those changes:
For this image, I changed the levels and the brightness and contrast of the
original image. This made the colours more vivid and appealing. It also
highlighted the different colours between the 3 different crops.
