3. Advantages of sourcing images this way:
You can get very specific images as you could find a book on any topic
and there will be loads of images within that one book.
Disadvantages of sourcing images this way:
It takes a long time to make digital copies and when you do they may be
quite bad quality. If you use these images for professional purposes, you
may also be infringing on copyright.
5. Advantages of sourcing images this way:
There is a wide variety of images to chose from and you can narrow your
search down easily with the search tools, including royalty free images
and what dimension or orientation you would like. You don’t have to pay
for most of these images.
Disadvantages of sourcing images this way:
If you are wanting a specific image it may have a watermark on it without
you realising. If you’re looking for a niche place or item etc it may be hard
to find a lot of choice. You may be breaking the law if you use some
images for a professional purpose as it may infringe on copyright. There
is also a chance that it could be very bad quality.
8. Advantages of sourcing images this way:
You are free to do what you want with them, you can use them in any way
you see fit. They tend to be quite high quality.
Disadvantages of sourcing images this way:
There isn’t as much choice for the images that are free. You have to pay
for some of them to not get the watermark.
10. Advantages of sourcing images this way:
You are free to do what you want with them as you created the image
yourself and it can be as much of a high quality image as you are capable
of. It will also be specific to the topic you would like as you are the one
constructing the image.
Disadvantages of sourcing images this way:
It may be hard to find the subject you would like to take a photo of, aswell
as hard to source the equipment needed to take the image if you don’t
already have it. Depending on your photography skills, it may not look as
professional.
16. Advantages of different resolutions:
300dpi allows for the image to be high in quality and the colours are
brighter and sharper – the gradients are bigger, giving more depth to the
image which is ideal for print as the image is then clearer when seen on
paper and looks more impressive.
72dpi allows for a faster upload speed to the internet.
Disadvantages of different resolutions:
300dpi would not work if you were to put it on a webpage as it would take
too long to upload.
72dpi makes the image grainy and pixelated, making it unsuitable for
print.
18. Explain the changes you made to the image and explain why you made
those changes:
I first opened the image and created a layer from the background. I then
duplicated that layer and double-clicked on it to open the layer options, I
unticked the “R” filter. I then moved that layer slightly to the right to give
a 3D effect.
I then created a Levels adjustment layer and changed the levels to make
the midtones a little darker.
