The typography for the mast head is very bold and it
looks like its been smashed giving an aggressive
masculine impression. This relates to the target
audience because the typography is very masculine
which then portrays the male-leaning target audience.
The typography of the mast head is written in black,
this then connotes death and darkness, once again
relating to the target audience because they’re related
to that type of area. The mast head is also written in
sans serif meaning that this portraying a younger
informal target audience.
The way the band name is written also relates to the
target audience because it’s written in yellow which is
a masculine colour so therefore portraying the target
audience. Although the band name is written in serif
making the written seem more formal and It is
showing the audience that the band is an older band,
reaching a older target audience.
The target audience for this type
of magazine is a niche audience of
a mainly male-leaning group inn
the age range of 15-24 and the
class group of ABC1
The image relates to the target audience because
the band ‘Machine Head’ are shown to have a
aggressive scary facial expressions, this then
portrays the target audience because the target
audience are portrayed by society as scary
aggressive people. The band are also shown to have
long messy hair and to have tattoos and muscles
which appeals to the target audience.
The colour relates to the target audience
because they colour scheme is very dark
and uses black consistently throughout the
cover.
Black relates to the target audience
because black connotes death and
darkness which portrays the target
audience. The colour scheme is also very
masculine because It uses colours yellow,
red and black which are related to
masculinity and it then reaches a male-leaning
target audience.
The language used for the front page is
very simple and informal because it
doesn’t really say much just mainly band
members. This portrays the target
audience because the target audience are
in the age range of 15-24 so they're a lot
younger so they would prefer reading
more simple, informal language.
The typography is written in sans serif, this then
creates a more informal target audience. The
typography is also written in bold which makes
the written more masculine portraying the male-leaning
target audience. The written on the
context page has also got a house feel, as all the
written is written in the same font making the
page more accessible and easier to read for a
younger target audience. The typography is also
written in white making in more bold and making
it contrast more, creating once again a more
masculine feel, portraying the target audience as
it is mainly male-leaning.
The image relates to the target audience
because the two main people out of the band
‘Fall out Boy’ are shown to just been in a boxing
fight, this then connotes violence and danger.
This relates to the target audience because
they’re portrayed by society as liking danger and
violence/ or being dangerous people. The band
is also shown to be bruised and to be wearing
dark make up, this then creates an aggressive
persona making the band look more scary/
aggressive then they are. The band are shown to
have long, dark messy hair and not to care how
much they are presented, this then is portraying
how the target audience would look.
The colour scheme for the context
page is using dark coloured tones, such
as greys, whites and red. They do this
to create a more masculine feel, once
again like the rest of the magazine it’s
portraying the male-leaning target
audience. The red also connotes blood,
therefore it relates to the theme of the
image such as a fight. It also relates to
the target audience because it’s a
quite aggressive colour. The colour
scheme also contrast its self making
everything more clear and accessible
to read.
The language used is very simple and
informal. It has a quote on it form one
of the band member and it uses quite
aggressive words such as ‘no
tolerance’, this then creates an
aggressive feel making the target
audience curious of why he is saying
this. Other than that it’s just names of
bands being used which then shows
the reader what is inside, and if they
see a band they like they would be
encouraged to buy the magazine. The
language used is very simple and
informal which then relates to the
younger age range target audience.
The typography for the double page
spread is written in sans serif which is
then aimed at a more informal target
audience. This does relate because
the target audience is in the age
range 15-24 so they’re more informal
and simple. The typography is also
very bold and it has a sort of a broken
look which creates a masculine
aggressive feel. This portrays the
target audience because the target
audience is mainly male-leaning. The
different colours of the article
heading contrast each other and
shows the reader the more important
parts, for example the red writing is
not as important because the whiter
writing is more clear and stands out
and grabs the attention more.
The image is shown in black and white, this then makes the images stand out
more and makes it more mysterious. The black connotes death and despair,
relating to the target audience's psychographic because the are associated
with the colour black. The image also portrays the target audience because
the band are represented in certain way. For example the band are shown to
have long messy hair and to be wearing dark/black clothing. This portrays the
target audience because this is how they dress and by having the band
dressed like this it relates the target audience to the band.
The colour scheme relates to
the target audience because the
magazine have used a very dark
colour scheme. For example
they have used red which s
normally associated with the
devil connoting a satanic feel.
The black once again connotes
death and combining the red
and the black colours is creating
a death like persona. The
writing is written in white for no
real reason, its just so it will
contrast on the black writing so
it is accessible to read, making it
more clear to understand.
The language relates to the target audience because it uses very simple
words such as ‘Best’ and ‘can be’. This relates to the target audience
because the writing is very informal portraying the target audience who
are in a younger generation in the age range of 15-24. They also use
positive words such as ‘Best’ because the magazine are trying to portray a
positive image for the band. This relates to the target audience because
they would want to read good things about their favourite band.
