Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

on and the youth in the academy system. Most of the writing
that is produced onto the website is formatted through Times
new roman. With the layout of the page, you can see how well
structured it is E.g. as you come onto the home page, you will
have the main story and other links to other stories. There is
only one main purpose of the Arsenal website and it is to
entertain the fans with new exciting news, the history of the
club, at the top of the page you have different categories
navigating you on where you want find out more information. if
you want to find out more about the players, then you will just
have to click on ‘players & staff’ to access the players details.

The style that has been used for the sports section in the daily
mail is formal as it is informing people about the latest new
about sports, mainly football, the color for the sports section is
different to the other sections as it is green and it is really
bright so that it can catch the eyes of some of their target
audience. The font style that is used in this website is san serif
but for most of it, the other font type is Arial so that when most
articles are being read it will be easier to read. The website is
made up of modern writing as everything is updated every
hour with new images and articles. The page is laid out very
well as it is very organized and is put into sections. The
columns are made up of different headlines and right at the
top of the website there is columns for different sections for
sports news that you can access. For example, it has links for
sports sections such as; cricket , football and boxing. Also, the
website has features such as captions, pull quotes and page
numbering. The images are usually at the top of the writing, so
that the image stands out and people will be attracted to it
more easily.
