Our target audience expects horror movies to contain certain elements like suspense, scary scenes, jump scares, gore and a frightening atmosphere according to a survey conducted using SurveyMonkey. The survey also found people generally expect the protagonist to be in danger and for there to be a mysterious villain or threat. One 17-year-old shared they want a horror movie to keep them on the edge of their seat and scare as well as disturb them.

From our findings, we have realised that many
people have similar expectations of the horror
genre. Some of these we will be adding in to our
opening sequence, however, we plan on
challenging some of these expectations.
