This document provides information for advisors on assisting transfer students at Central State University (CSU). It discusses the admissions process for transfer students, the role of advisors, and academic planning tools available at CSU. Advisors can use the Degree Audit Reporting System, Transfer Guarantee Reporting System, Ohio Transfer Module, and USelect to help transfer students determine which of their courses will transfer and apply to their program requirements at CSU. When course equivalencies are unclear, advisors should consult the appropriate CSU department chair.

An update on the progress of the Cooperative Alliance Program in Oklahoma. A joint partnership with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and ODCTE.
If you were unable to attend our presentation on September 28th, or you would like to refer to the presentation from that evening regarding getting started with the application process for four-year universities and colleges, this presentation provides helpful information and resources.
This slide presentation was part of a Learnshop at Online Educa Berlin 2013. This was an interactive, discussion based session:
Competency-based education addresses the rising cost of education and supports employability of graduates. It offers a path for adults to accelerate degree completion by acknowledging prior learning and work experience. Until recently, prior learning has meant transfer credit from a different educational institution. Although this is still relevant, it is expanding to include consideration of learning via open educational resources and MOOCs. Can these also be incorporated as part of an accredited degree program? Work in small groups with the expert panel in this dynamic and interactive Learnshop to grow your theoretical and practical understanding of competency-based higher education and develop thinking on implementation of this model in a European context.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2. TOPICS
The student(s) will learn the following:
Admissions Process
Advisor and the Transfer Student
Academic Planning Tools
Degree Audit Reporting System
Ohio Transfer Module
Transfer Guarantee Reporting System
Uselect
3. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A STUDENT A
WANTS TO TRANSFER TO CSU?
First steps by student
The transfer student contacts the CSU Office of Admissions:
937.376.6348 / Toll Free: 800.388.2781
The transfer student completes an application for admission.
The transfer student mails his/her academic transcript(s) from
each transfer school to:
Central State University
Attn: Office of Admissions
P.O. Box 1004
Wilberforce, OH 45384
4. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A STUDENT A
WANTS TO TRANSFER TO CSU?
When CSU receives the transcript(s):
•The Office of Admissions assigns a school code to each
transcript.
•The Office of Admissions sends the coded academic transcripts
to the Office of the Registrar for Banner input by the Transcript
Coordinator.
• After inputting the transcript data, the Transcript Coordinator
sends back the transcripts to the Office of Admissions for filing.
•Transfer students may contact the Office of the Registrar for a
copy of their accepted transfer courses.
5. ADVISORS AND THE TRANSFER STUDENT
Academic Advisors can view accepted courses on Banner (SHATERM)
or MyCSU.
Advisors create a folder for each of their advisees.
The check sheet is the primarily tool for determining the student’s
progress toward degree completion.
6. ADVISORS AND THE TRANSFER
STUDENT
To determine which checksheet is needed, advisors should check
SZADARQ in Banner for the student’s catalog year (CATYR).
Use the checksheet in effect during the student’s catalog year in
Banner.
For example, if the student’s catalog year is Fall 2012, the appropriate
checksheet is the one in effect Fall 2012, not the most current.
Students have a total of eight calendar years in which to complete
the degree requirements for graduation. Students who take longer
than eight years from the date of initial enrollment to graduate will
be subject to degree requirements of the current catalog.
Checksheets are available from the student’s major department .

8. DEGREE AUDIT REPORTING SYSTEM
(DARS)
Degree Audit Reporting Systems a.k.a DARS is available to advisors who
have DARS training through the Registrar’s office.
Permission Rights must be granted to have access to this Banner form.
To request access, contact Tara Napper at the Office of the Registrar.
DARS assists the Academic Advisor and Student by creating a roadmap
towards degree completion. Note: A degree audit does not replace the
academic checksheet.
DARS shows how courses taken at Central State University will apply
towards the student’s academic program. The student’s transfer courses
will be listed; however, they will not be applied to the student’s
requirements.
At this time, CSU relies on Academic Advisors and Departments Chairs
to check transfer course equivalencies.
9. TRANSFER GUARANTEE REPORTING
SYSTEM [1]
The Transfer Guarantee Reporting Systems is a
resource to help students, parents, admissions officers,
counselors, academic advisors, registrars, and other
personnel with the transfer of credits by identifying
statewide guarantees for the Ohio Transfer Module
(OTM) and Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG) initiatives.
To access this website go to:

SYSTEM – APPROVED COURSE
On this screen, you will set the parameters to
search for course equivalencies from two Ohio
institutions. In this example, these are SCC
and CSU. The example search does not
specify a subject, so it will identify all course
equivalencies in effect during autumn 2012.
15. OHIO TRANSFER MODULE
Use the OTM menu to
identify equivalents for
general education courses
such as English or math.
16. OHIO TRANSFER MODULE
This screen shows the SCC courses approved for transfer
within the English composition module; however, it does
not show which course is equivalent to which CSU course
so more information is needed.

19. TRANSFER GUARANTEE REPORTING
SYSTEM
The Transfer Guarantee Reporting System is one tool available to help advise transfer
students but it does not provide information about out-of-state credits and may not
provide all the information needed for in-state students, so other tools are also useful.
20. USELECT [2]
u.select (Web-based course transfer system)
u.select is an online tool used in determining course
equivalencies, program requirements, and applicability of
coursework when transferring between schools.
All public Ohio colleges and universities have Uselect.
Not all colleges and universities participate in Uselect.
