Good Morning, I am Nagarajan from INDIA doing material handling
equipment manufacturing, supplying and exporting, I always used to dream
something innovative way to develop concepts and ideas in my field of
engineering
So for I have designed various components for the cranes, For example
gearboxes, Electrical wire rope Hoists, electrical safety circuits and accessories.
Among these, my Drum rope guide design, Cross pulling prevention
Mechanisms, hypocycloid limit switches are very famously accepted in my
colleagues organizations
This time I have developed micro headroom JIB crane, which has been
proposed to a customer, who long time has requested, Since they are operating
cargo goods transportation business, they have very tough time to load or
unload heavy parcels from the container lorry. Inside the container , headroom
clearance will be less than 10 feet, so any normal type Crane equipments cannot
handle this type of operations efficiently. Every time they would hire mobile
crane vechile to load/unload their goods, it is time consuming and costly too
I developed this idea and proposed them, by the way of implementing MICRO
HEAD ROOM hoist, All mechanical parts like motor, Gearbox, Drum, Guides
and Breaks are kept on rear side , While the boom and trolley along with hook
would extrude in to the container. It seems sounds and innovative, we are
waiting foe the clearance from their management to go ahead to produce.

Despite the fact that the cycling industry is roughly 150 years old, bicycle design and engineering continue to evolve, especially as materials evolve. Four years ago, the founders of Rolo identified what they believed to be a gap in the carbon composite road racing bicycle frame market. Not being engineers, the two founders realized quickly that they would need to craft an engineering solution if they were to attempt to achieve their stated goal of designing, manufacturing and selling the highest performing road bicycle frame in the world. Having identified the key performance targets, and having designed the basic elements of the frame, they focused very quickly on Altair and its modeling capabilities. Together, they designed and built virtual test jigs to replicate the industry standard bench tests for fatigue, as well as stiffness and comfort. The result is that Rolo now manufactures the lightest, stiffest and most comfortable road racing frames as well as the only custom lay-up frames in the world, and achieved this objective in record time.

An example of using FEA to improve a series of automotive wheel designs. Wheels must pass durability tests to be certified for use. This family did not pass the tests and a large investment had been made in tooling. The company did not want this investment to go to waste and assigned me the task to resolve the issue soon after hiring me. This is a brief outline of the changes made to improve the wheel such that all tests were passed. It should be noted that all work was done virtually and all tests were passes first time after tooling modifications.

conceptually, except that the mounting position is on the
vertical side of the base allowing for better clearance from
the electric arc furnace
Advantages: Easier to build, Simpler design, Vertical to
avoid furnace clearance issues
Disadvantages: Heavy, Multiple areas with very small
stress

Advantages: Relatively small and light frame.

pounds coming down the shaft, 9000 radial pounds, and a
torque of 12,000 pound-inches. There is a factor of safety of
1.4. The base is comparably lightweight at 750 pounds
relative to the forces it is able to withstand
Disadvantages: Strength highly depend on quality and
placement of welds. Not adjustable to preferences of driller.

-Design and build a drill to perform tap hole drilling for an electric arc furnace
-Drill must be portable and movable by a Zoom Boom forklift
-Operation time for drilling should be less then 30 minutes, including the mounting and moving of drill
-The drill must be designed to weigh less then 4000 pounds
