The Reactable is an electronic musical instrument consisting of a round translucent table interface. Users place tangible blocks called tangibles on the table, which are interfaced with a backlit visual display to operate a virtual modular synthesizer for creating music or sounds. Analysis of the Reactable found strengths in its ability to foster creativity with simple tools and provide interactivity in music production. A weakness is the many symbols on the tangibles require more effort to use and learn as new features are added.

The Reactable is an electronic musical instrument
with a tabletop Tangible User Interface that has
been developed within the Music Technology
Group at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in
Barcelona, Spain.
The Reactable is a round translucent table, used in
a darkened room, and appears as a backlit display.
By placing blocks called tangibles on the table, and
interfacing with the visual display via the tangibles
or fingertips, a virtual modular synthesizer is
operated, creating music or sound effects.

Strength
• More creativity with simple tools.
• More interactive with dummy user
in music.
• Good ability to improve DJ Skill
just with one simple table.
Weaknesses
• There are so many simbols in the
tangibles make you have to do
more effort to use.
• Adding features makes more new
symbols to learn.
