2. Responsibilities: -
 Responsible for monitoring and surveillance of quality system during execution of project.
 Visiting the construction site daily to check whether all works, materials, equipment, are in
accordance with QA/QC program, Project drawing & specification. When defective
materials, equipment, or workmanship are found, immediate action to be taken to correct
them, & to report the corrective action to the Site Supervisor.
 Focal point to maintaining Quality standards on a project site.
 Responsible to conduct QC tool box talk on site before starting any activity to fulfill quality
requirements and standards.
 Explanation and implementation of different materials data sheet to workers as per
manufacturer recommendations.
 Co-ordinates with site staff to ensure that all required testing has been performed and those
acceptable results have been achieved.
 Advise site staff a deficiency detected during “in-progress” Inspection and assists and
advises on any requirements and remedial actions. Follows up to ensure that all necessary
action has been completed prior to release as final acceptance.
 To conduct all required tests in accordance with contract documents and to prepare fill in &
sign all reports & forms as necessary for the compliance with Contract Quality Standards.

Roles and Activities:-
 Responsibility includes review of project specification, drawing,welding and NDT
Procedures, and ITP.
 Witnessing of welding procedure qualification, welding operator and welder
qualification test and destructive testing of specimens.
 Material inspection, material test certificate review against purchase order, requisition
and project specification requirements.
 Monitor and maintain control records for welding consumable storage.
 Welder qualification and continuous assessment of their performance
 To check the fit up stage prior and confirm that root gap, off set, bevel angle are within
acceptable limit.
 Verify that the base materials and consumable welding materials conform to the
specifications and that the welding consumables used are as specified for each base
material or combination of base materials.
 Regularly checking welding parameters and essential/non essential variables.
 Checking the availability and suitability of the filler metal and of preheating, welding
and control equipment.

3.  Monitoring the welding operations specifically the suitability of protection and
precautionary measures adopted by the welder both for the preservation of electrodes
and for facing adverse atmospheric conditions.
 Ensuring all the personnel employed and operating in the welding activities are duly
skilled and qualified in accordance with the applicable specifications, codes .
 Preparation of weld map and maintaining the weld record.
 To select the joint for the NDT as per the welder coverage and line class percentage.
 Co- ordinate with sub contractor for NDT activities like radiographic testing, magnet
particle testing, Ultrasonic testing and penetrant testing.
 To do the penetrant testing as per the approval procedure is acceptable limit or not.
 Preparation of RT selection list for the Daily Radiography works.
 To witness magnetic particle testing of fillet joints and check defects.
 To witness preheating process and verify the chart.
 Maintaining of all inspection report and related documents in QA/ QC department
