13. VERBAL
COMMUNICATION
NONVERBAL
COMMUNICATION
Clarity Relies on the explicit meaning of words
and the structure of language to
convey information.
Conveys emotions, attitudes, and
additional layers of meaning that may
not be expressed through words
alone.
Feedback Can receive immediate verbal
feedback through spoken or written
responses.
Requires careful observation and
interpretation, as feedback is often
non-verbal as well.
Flexibility Allows for precise expression of
complex ideas and information
More ambiguous than verbal
communication but allows for subtle
and nuanced expressions
Cultural
Variation
The meaning of words may vary
across cultures, but linguistic
differences can be addressed through
translation
Non-verbal cues may vary
significantly across cultures, and
misinterpretation is possible if cultural
differences are not considered.
