StorageOS - 8 core principles of cloud native storageStorageOS
This document outlines 8 core principles of cloud native storage: 1) storage should be application-centric rather than tied to operating systems or hypervisors, 2) storage should be platform agnostic, 3) storage resources should be declared like other resources via orchestrators, 4) storage should be managed via API and self-managed, 5) storage should dynamically react to changes, 6) storage should integrate native security features, 7) storage should offer deterministic performance efficiently, and 8) storage should ensure high availability, durability and consistency of data. StorageOS is presented as a cloud native storage solution designed from the ground up to meet these principles.
The document discusses migrating to cloud native solutions. It defines cloud native as an approach that exploits the advantages of cloud computing using containers, microservices, and other modern technologies. This allows applications to be scalable, resilient, and manageable. The document outlines the benefits of cloud native and provides a "trail map" to transitioning applications. It also discusses common challenges like technical debt and failing to meet CI/CD expectations, and provides recommendations to address them such as automating processes and simplifying architectures.

Continuous Authority to Operate (ATO) with ThreadFix – Bringing Commercial In...Denim Group
The tempo for software delivery to the warfighter continues to accelerate to meet the goals and demands of their missions. Pressures to rapidly build and deploy mission software drive the need to deliver new capabilities via DevSecOps pipelines. Many of the latest leading-edge DevSecOps practices draw heavily from commercial tech companies and innovative programs across DoD like Kessel Run. What are these latest trends, and how do you take advantage of them? How do you quantify the risk of microservices, new languages and frameworks, and cloud environments and still obtain authority to operate (ATO)?
The ThreadFix platform has built-in automation and orchestration capabilities to enable your teams to provide immediate feedback in the form of policy evaluation, notifications in the form of emails and automated developer defect creation, and decision-making on your CI program as scan results are generated. In addition to built-in automation, plugins and the ThreadFix API enable CI programs to seamlessly integrate security testing into existing build/release pipelines to provide evaluation of code changes directly to your development tools.
These key issue items and other trends will be discussed in this highly interactive briefing, providing critical insights on how to inject agility and responsiveness into environments that have traditionally struggled to keep pace with modern development approaches.

A dive into Microsoft Fabric/AI Solutions offering. For the event: AI, Data, and CRM: Shaping Business through Unique Experiences. By D. Koutsanastasis, Microsoft
This document discusses how organizations can create unique customer experiences through a customer relationship management (CRM) approach. It notes that customer expectations are growing while experiences are often inconsistent or irrelevant. The CRM landscape is challenging due to siloed data and lack of a complete customer view. To overcome these challenges, the document recommends building a customer journey approach founded on four pillars: breaking through barriers with data and insights; innovating everywhere through integrated cloud services; creating faster impact with modular solutions; and adapting to change through agility and transformation. A CRM approach can help organizations better understand customers, anticipate needs, and deliver personalized experiences to build loyalty. The key is combining enabling technology with a customer-centric culture and engaged employees.

Overview of Microsoft solutions that can help any organization bring their data in the era of AI. For the event: AI, Data, and CRM: Shaping Business through Unique Experiences
AI and machine learning are transforming businesses in many ways. Machine learning uses large amounts of data to help computers learn tasks without being explicitly programmed. Deep learning uses neural networks to perform complex tasks like image recognition and natural language processing. While AI today is narrow and focused on specific tasks, generative AI and large language models are increasing capabilities. Graspan: A Big Data System for Big Code AnalysisAftab Hussain
We built a disk-based parallel graph system, Graspan, that uses a novel edge-pair centric computation model to compute dynamic transitive closures on very large program graphs.
We implement context-sensitive pointer/alias and dataflow analyses on Graspan. An evaluation of these analyses on large codebases such as Linux shows that their Graspan implementations scale to millions of lines of code and are much simpler than their original implementations.
These analyses were used to augment the existing checkers; these augmented checkers found 132 new NULL pointer bugs and 1308 unnecessary NULL tests in Linux 4.4.0-rc5, PostgreSQL 8.3.9, and Apache httpd 2.2.18.

Hand Rolled Applicative User ValidationCode KataPhilip Schwarz
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.
