Predatory Lending Practices & How to Avoid Themmilfamln
Dr. O'Neill and Marcus Beauregard will present a 90 minute webinar on behalf of the Military Families Learning Network that will focus on the practices and schemes associated with predatory lending, as well as tips for educators and practitioners to share with clients to help them avoid becoming victims of these practices.
In July of every year, Military Consumer Protection Day is celebrated. To tie in with this theme, the Military Families Learning Network personal finance team is offering a webinar that will describe various types of predatory lending practices. Part One will include a definition of predatory lending and characteristics of predatory loans. It will also describe several common types of high-cost loans including payday, car title, and pawn shop loans and other forms of subprime lending. Part Two of the webinar will explore the impact of predatory loans on military families and regulations in place to protect against fraud
Of particular importance, this webinar will focus on the Regulation (32 CFR Part 232), which implements the Military Lending Act (MLA), which has been going through a significant revision so that the limitations in the MLA are effectively applied to credit available to Service members and their families. Join the webinar July 28 at 11 a.m. ET: https://learn.extension.org/events/2113/

Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

19. Unemployment Insurance Benefits Overview
Unemployment insurance is a state-administered program
designed to provide workers with financial assistance during
temporary periods of involuntary unemployment or
underemployment.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES)
collects unemployment insurance taxes from the state's liable
employers and returns those dollars to eligible Illinois workers
as unemployment insurance benefits. Workers do not “pay
in” to the unemployment insurance system.

Editor's Notes
Good Afternoon Everyone, welcome to the RR workshop for FCA US, LLC. I’m Carmind Burns from the Illinois Department of Commerce here with our core partners and we are excited to share available resources with you all today.
From The Workforce Connection we have a well-informed, Jessica Story who will talk about employment and training resources. We also have a very knowledgeable Kevin Logan with the Local Union 1268 whom has spoken to continuing health coverage and retirement and additional benefits information for employees through the employer. And finally, we have an experienced Ramiro Cruz with the IL Department of Employment Security to help navigate the unemployment insurance process and an overview of other resources such as employment and training as well. These core partners are here today to update you on resources that are available to displaced employees that have been impacted due to no fault of their own.
Navigating through the next steps after job loss can be challenging. Working in partnership, the agencies represented here today will provide information on available resources to employees that have been impacted by a layoff due to no fault of their own.
Feel free to further elaborate with personal stories or testimonies.
The US Department of Labor asks that we notify workers affected by a layoff of available resources. What happens, is our state government agency receives notice of a pending layoff, which initiates our team to talk about available resources at no cost to you.
Rapid Response workshops are extended to employers and employees to provide valuable information to employees aimed to assist with regaining employment.
Today we will cover a variety of program benefits and provide detailed information and the next steps to utilizing these services.
You may not need a particular resource we cover, but we want you to know it is available.
All these resources are funded either by your employer or by taxes. There is no cost to you to use these services.
The services that we will share today are funded by your employer or by taxes, again, with no additional COST to YOU.
If you have questions, please feel free to utilize the Chat/Q&A features. Please do keep questions relevant to the entire group. For specific questions for your individual situation, we ask that you please reach out to the presenter to have an offline conversation. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers at the end.
The Federal Law that governs workforce benefits is the “Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act” or W-I-O-A.
WIOA covers Adults, Youth, Dislocated Workers, and Spouses of Dislocated Workers. A Dislocated Worker is anyone laid off due to no fault of their own.
You have a Window of Eligibility from separation until your next job, when you can utilize the WIOA services, including a no cost training grant. We advise you to take the first step to become a recipient of these wonderful services by attending a WIOA Orientation, which in turn, will enhance your career opportunities.
WIOA provides jobseekers with funding for workforce training programs to gain in-demand skills or support as you look for other employment. You can access services through Lake County Workforce Development. These services include job search assistance as well as training services.
To help centralize the information that you will receive today, we have created a dedicated company page. This webpage will include all of the handouts provided today, links to the agencies presenting today, and additional resources such as an online resume tool. We will also record today’s workshop and in 2-3 days upload the recording in case you need to reaffirm available resources or share with others who were unable to attend today.
This link and QR code will generate your respective Company Web Page. Please copy the link in the middle of the slide, which will guide you to your dedicated company page. You can also gain access to the company page by scanning the QR code. Scan the QR code by using your smartphone camera, once scanned please bookmark the webpage into your phone for future access.
Your HR Department also has the link if you are not able to record it now.
Please take a moment to complete the Dislocated Worker Questionnaire on the company page, because it helps budget federal funds we get for our state to support our citizens in similar times. The survey has a box to check if you want to be contacted about WIOA resources and job search training.
That is all for my presentation. I am now going to transition the floor to the next speaker {Rep} with the {AJC Name}. Thank you for your time!
Welcome to the Workforce Connection Program Enrollment Session.

Understanding where you are currently
Determining what needs to happen to achieve your goals and creating a plan
Then connecting you with the right resources to gain full-time employment
Not everyone that applies to our program will receive the exact same services, each career plan is unique.
Once you have completed any necessary training, your career planner will assist you in connecting you to employment.
You will be connected to you to resume writing workshops, help with completing job applications, and providing postings for available jobs.
Hot Jobs, Monthly Calendar, Virtual Hiring Events and Job Fairs, even free or low-cost training opportunities or classes.
The general eligibility requirements are basic, and not the same as training eligibility which is determined on a case by case basis.
