Sweet Valley HighResearch
About the programmeThe series revolved around the lives of Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield, beautiful blonde twins who live in the fictitious Sweet Valley, California, and their gang of friends. Elizabeth is warm, friendly and sincere, while her twin sister Jessica is flirty, mischievous, and irresponsible.
Title SequenceWe can tell this is an Older childrens TV drama, which is targeted at an older audience. We can tell this because of the standards of the filming has increased due to HD cameras. The editing is very simple also. It shows the title first, it then goes into showing you the school, then the different characters involved in the series. The mise – en – scene is showing the background of the school, which looks relatively normal, the non digetic sound shows that its about relationships in school? Because of the music playing ‘ Sweet Valley High’ continulously. I thought the opening sequence was very simple, target audience girls because it seems to be about relationships.
DVDThis was the first DVD they broguht out, they use very girly colours which are pinks and oranges to represent the target audience. They have the two main characters so people recognise this. They title is at the bottom of the DVD case which I think looks different and interesting. The image at the bottom is a group of people on the beach, tells us that this programme is based around a beach and the title shows that it based in a school. The two girls are pretty which makes young girls watch the programme. They have no writing accept title and the series number. Plain and simple.
MagazineIt did not have a magazine, I think because of the age group this was aimed at 15+ they would not of been interested in this sort of stuff.
RatingsThis was a very popular programme but ended 4 years ago, the ratings I cannot find now.
