Sven Hedin was a Swedish explorer, geographer, and travel writer who conducted four major expeditions to Central Asia between 1893 and 1935. During these expeditions, he mapped and explored vast areas of Central Asia, including locating the sources of major rivers like the Brahmaputra, Indus, and Sutlej. He also mapped the Tarim Basin and Lop Nur lake. Hedin covered over 26,000 kilometers on his first expedition alone, mapping over 10,000 kilometers of previously uncharted areas. His expeditions helped make Central and Inner Asia known in the West. Later in life, Hedin expressed some support for Nazi Germany due to their nationalism, though he disagreed with some of their policies
