2. In Northwestern Helsinki an industrial zone area will be converted into a
lively and colourful residential district for more than 5 500 inhabitants
3. Climate change mitigation and adaptation is taken into account in planning of Kuninkaantammi.
Resilience and low carbon emissions are principles guiding all construction efforts.
5. In the centre of Kuninkaantammi,
pedestrian is priority.
Kuninkaantammi has a spiral
structure with curved alleys and
lots of squares to create a sense
of communality as well as a
temperate microcilmate.
11. Storm water management on housing blocks:
delaying the storm waters should primarily be
arranged through rain gardens shared by the plots.
12.
13. Green rooftops should be built on all one-
storey building parts, outbuildings, bike
sheds, etc.
14. According to the detailed plan, in some blocks all the roofs should be covered with either vegetation or solar panels.
15. It´s mandatory to install a green roof on the public buildings of Kuninkaantammi.
Green facade will be a significant feature of a round-shaped landmark building.
16. Storm water management on streets: open water features like curb extensions, and pervious surfaces.
18. Storm water management in green areas: Helene Schjerfbeck park with wetland and lowland meadows
19. Kuninkaantammi-project is piloting the green factor tool for Helsinki: scored green area/plot area
The aim is to improve the amount and quality of green areas on building plots.
