The Surgeon General is inviting people to ask him questions on Twitter using the hashtag #AskTheSurgeonGeneral about the impact of climate change on health or any other public health topics. He will be answering questions live via video throughout the afternoon of the following day from his Twitter account. The Surgeon General met with the President, EPA Administrator and health professionals to discuss climate change and its impact on public health, as well as the importance of prevention. He wants to inform people on how to keep themselves and their families healthy, especially in light of a changing climate.

Case Study
Mr. M. was a 77-year-old decisionally incapacitated
long-term nursing home resident with chronic schizo-
phrenia who was admitted to the hospital with a
bacterial pneumonia. His past medical history was
notable for deteriorating functional status over the
past 2-3 years, urinary retention requiring chronic
indwelling bladder catheterization, and two recent
hospitalizations for urinary tract infections leading
to sepsis. He developed respiratory failure soon after
admission and was intubated and placed on mechani-
cal ventilation. Follow-up studies suggested worsen-
ing pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syn-
drome (ARDS), as well as worsening kidney function.
The patient was unable to participate in any decision
making. His guardian requested that cardiopulmo-
nary resuscitation and all other intensive care be pro-
vided if necessary, including dialysis should Mr. M.’s
kidney failure continue to worsen. After five days of
mechanical ventilation, the patient was weaned from
the ventilator and extubated. The palliative care ser-
vice was consulted following the extubation; his criti-
cal care team questioned whether it would be appro-
priate to re-intubate the patient if he again developed
respiratory failure. The palliative care team contacted
Mr. M.’s brother, his only living relative, who felt the
patient’s quality of life was poor and believed the
patient would not want aggressive medical care. The
staff at his nursing home was contacted, as well as
the patient’s mental health case manager, who had all
known Mr. M. for many years. All concurred with his
brother’s assessment. Additionally, the nursing home
staff said that Mr. M. would not be able to return there
if the plan was to continue more intensive medical
management of his worsening health conditions. Hos-
pice care was discussed with these parties, and it was
thought that choosing hospice would best represent
the patient’s wishes under the circumstances. The pal-
liative care team contacted his guardian and explained
the patient’s medical situation and its implications
for his ongoing care (including the need for physical
restraints, loss of stable nursing home placement, and
confinement to the acute care hospital environment
for the duration of his acute illness). Based on this new

As of July 1, 2015 estimates, the County population was 22, 267 individuals. Of this, 51.7% were Females, while as the males were 48.3%. The white people were 96.5%, the African Americans were 1.0%, the American Indian and Alaska Natives were 0.5%, Asians were 0.7%, Hispanics were 3.2%, and people with two or more races present accounted for 1.3%.
Number of Senior Citizens
The number of senior citizens was 32.5%.
Number of Disabled Individuals
The number of disabled individuals under the age of 65 was 13.9%.
Number of Children
The number of children was 16.1%.
Of the populations above, I choose the senior citizens. The first health concern for this population is elder abuse. At this age, this people are not able to actively take care of themselves like they would a while back. For this reason, they constantly required to be taken care of, in almost all the aspects of their lives. However, elder abuse is a common occurrence in which, the caregivers neglect this population so much, to the extent of some of them even dying. It is such a shame that such a thing might happen to such a delicate population. A second health concern for this population, is the risk of heath disease and other chronic diseases. According to the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), heart disease is one of the leading killers for the senior citizens because at this age, they are delicate and their hearts are very weak (Motooka et al., 2006).
The senior citizens require a number of community health interventions and public policies, which are aimed at ensuring they lead a comfortable life. For instance, they should have access to caregivers when they cannot adequately take care of themselves (Takano, 2002). In addition, they should have access to proper diets, and they should be provided with as much assistance as possible when they are at home and in public places. They should also have regular medical check-ups, to ascertain their health conditions, as well as have access to a hospital and a personal doctor in case they need consultation before their regular sessions (Anderson, 2003). Regular exercises is also good for ensuring their lives are going on smoothly.

BFHA Legal and Reserve Fund

The funds are needed to maintain their only means of enforcement until legislation is passed compelling city agencies to enforce restrictive covenants. Residents are asked to donate generously to strengthen the fund and ensure the neighborhood remains desirable for future generations.

Donations will help keep their neighborhood desirable for future generations by maintaining an enforceable covenant.
109th Precinct Community Council
The May meeting of the 109th Precinct Community Council will be held on May 13, 2015 at 7:30PM at the North Queens Church located at 154th Street and 26th Avenue. The church is also home to the 911 Memorial Park honoring victims of the September 11 attacks. Transportation will be provided from the precinct by 6:45PM, and parking is available across the street. The agenda will include a guest speaker from the Flushing Lions Club, recognition of the Cop of the Month, a community news update, and a crime stats report. Pre-ordered t-shirts can also be picked up at the meeting.
Bowne Park Concert on June 28, 2015 - The Meetles
The Broadway-Flushing Homeowners' Association and Bowne Park Civic Association are sponsoring a free concert by The Meetles, a classic rock tribute band that specializes in music by The Beatles, in Bowne Park on June 28, 2015 from 3-5 PM. The Meetles are known for performing in the New York City subway system and causing "Meetlemania" with fans dancing and singing along. Attendees can expect spontaneous singing and dancing at this family-friendly event in the park.
Spring concert - Queens Oratorio
The Oratorio Society of Queens will hold their Spring Concert on May 17th at the Queensborough Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature Haydn's "Lord Nelson Mass" performed by the Oratorio Society of Queens and their orchestra. Additionally, the concert will include performances of American choral masterpieces and operatic selections by guest soloists. Tickets range in price from $10-$35 and can be purchased online or by phone.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.
