Union County, Georgia.
County population with racial and gender breakdowns
As of July 1, 2015 estimates, the County population was 22, 267
individuals. Of this, 51.7% were Females, while as the males
were 48.3%. The white people were 96.5%, the African
Americans were 1.0%, the American Indian and Alaska Natives
were 0.5%, Asians were 0.7%, Hispanics were 3.2%, and people
with two or more races present accounted for 1.3%.
Number of Senior Citizens
The number of senior citizens was 32.5%.
Number of Disabled Individuals
The number of disabled individuals under the age of 65 was
13.9%.
Number of Children
The number of children was 16.1%.

2. Of the populations above, I choose the senior citizens. The
first health concern for this population is elder abuse. At this
age, this people are not able to actively take care of themselves
like they would a while back. For this reason, they constantly
required to be taken care of, in almost all the aspects of their
lives. However, elder abuse is a common occurrence in which,
the caregivers neglect this population so much, to the extent of
some of them even dying. It is such a shame that such a thing
might happen to such a delicate population. A second health
concern for this population, is the risk of heath disease and
other chronic diseases. According to the Centre for Disease
Control (CDC), heart disease is one of the leading killers for the
senior citizens because at this age, they are delicate and their
hearts are very weak (Motooka et al., 2006).
The senior citizens require a number of community health
interventions and public policies, which are aimed at ensuring
they lead a comfortable life. For instance, they should have
access to caregivers when they cannot adequately take care of
themselves (Takano, 2002). In addition, they should have access
to proper diets, and they should be provided with as much
assistance as possible when they are at home and in public
places. They should also have regular medical check-ups, to
ascertain their health conditions, as well as have access to a
hospital and a personal doctor in case they need consultation
before their regular sessions (Anderson, 2003). Regular
exercises is also good for ensuring their lives are going on
smoothly.
Health Risk Assessment
In the health risk assessment tests, I took the eating
behaviour test. The questions asked basically were about the
kind of foods and drinks that I take on a daily basis, how often I
take the meals per day, the rate and posture at which I take the
meals, my favourite comfort food, and the circumstances under
which I take this food, and even my thoughts on vegetarian diet
on whether it is healthy or not. The results suggested that I
should take more water on a daily basis, and that I should watch

3. my meal times since it is ill advised to eat past 7 pm. In
addition, the results also showed that I should be particularly
concerned about how often I take the pastries, and also that I
should change my perspective on the protein in milk and
calcium absorption as well as vegetarian diet since it is healthy.
I can utilize the results to improve my health, by following the
stipulations and ensuring that I stick to a healthy diet from now
on.

HEALTH ASSESSMENT: ZIKA VIRUS IN UNION COUNTY
This health assessment was made to ensure that the people of
Union Country are not at risk of contracting zika virus. A
number of cases had been reported in Ohio, but not yet in Union
County, and therefore, the health assessment was made to
increase awareness of the virus to the people of Union County.
With more awareness, there are less chances of people
contracting the virus and also higher chances of controlling and
preventing the spread of the virus within the county.
The center of disease control pointed out that pregnant women,
and obese people at a higher risk of contracting the zika virus
nonetheless everyone can get it. The CDC pointed out that zika
virus can be spread through mosquito bites and also through
sex. Pregnant women and obese people are often beaten by

5. mosquitos compared to average people and therefore, they are at
a higher risk of getting the virus.
From the health assessment, there is a vast of information that
could prove very useful in planning interventions in community.
Some of this information take account of;
· Steps to prevent mosquito bites
· Steps to prevent getting zika through sex
· Steps to plan travel
· Plans for having children
The information about how zika is spread is very vital because
when people know how the virus spreads then they can protect
themselves. This piece of information should be availed for the
use in public policy planning. It is also vital to include the
information on which areas have been affected by the zika virus
so that those who are planning to travel can be aware and take
the necessary precautions (IDRS, 2015).

Primarily, the public health assessment is the evaluation of
information and data on release or announcement of dangerous
substances in the surrounding in assessing everything might it
be the past, present, or future influence on public health.
Change health advisories and other recommendations and
identifying studies necessary in evaluating and migrating or
preventing human health effects. This process is conducted to
determine whether and at what level has individuals have been,
are and will be exposed to dangerous substances related to
dangerous waste locations and if so, if the exposure is
dangerous and how it can be prevented and reduced.
Public health in other word is the science of preventing and
growing the health of individuals and the community by the
promotion of healthy livelihood, investigation of diseases and
preventing injuries and control of communicable diseases (de
Leeuw 2016). On the other hand, personal health is a record that
maintains health data and patient secures information associated
with the care of the patient. Public health differs with own
health because public health is concerned about protecting the
health of the entire people. Individuals might be small as the
local community or large as entire nation or section of the
world.
Public health assessment plays a vital role in the country
because the process used in conducting communal desires
assessment might increase the visibility of local health section.

Public health facilities are involved in government yearly
budget. Most of the countries consider health and services as
the top most services considered. The idea of public utilities is
the fairness rendered by people through their earning to the
state of levies (Rabarison 2015). Where every person has
assured the security of services when they are unhealthy, the
financial scope of public health spreads hospital maintenance,
construction of new hospitals, and health cares. However,
public health assessment has limitations such as individuals
cruelly abuse resources and services they are not paying for or
owning.
Many people ask themselves how health assessment can be
utilized to create the public policy, but the reality is that the
policy decision distresses individual’s health. However, this is
not partial to systems found in the health sectors. These are due
to policies in areas such as accommodation, education,
transport, income, employment, social aid, and many affects
that are named social elements of health (Schuster 2016). In
building healthier public policies, people must understand as
best as they can on effects of policies mutually intended and
expected results. Hence from there, public health assessment
can find the downstream effects in unanticipated areas, and
plans with moderately bright results in a particular sector can
lead to ripples in other areas.
Elder’s abuse in the community has the great impact on
individuals and to the community and a vital public wellbeing
problem. This act mainly occurs in the community or families
where the expectation of confidence and reliance that causes
harms and distress to older people. Some of this violation
includes right violation, sexually, emotional, financial, physical
abuse, abandonment, abandonment, and loss of self-esteem and

8. respect. Also, elder abuse has several effects such as; elder who
is highly abused are highly exposed to death risk compared to
those who are not abused. Basing in America, the estimation of
elder financial is 2.9 billion dollars yearly (Schuster 2016).
Seniors who are abused are more likely to go to nursing
hospice. Abused elders have other health problems such as high
blood pressure, long-lasting pain, depression, and heart attack.
They might also be exploited to the extent of turning to
Medicaid as an outcome of their injury or loss.
