     “estimates show that 2010 was by far a record year for CO2 emissions from
     fossil-fuel combustion and cement manufacture. Globally 9,139 Teragrams of
     oxidized carbon (Tg-C) were emitted from these sources. .. this amounts to over
     33.5 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide. The increase alone is about 512 Tg-C,
     or 5.9%, over the 2009 global estimate. The previous record year was 2008,
     with 8,749 Tg-C emitted; the 2010 estimate is about 104.5% of that, or 391
     Tg-C more.”

             President Obama’s goal of putting one million electric vehicles
             [EVs] on the road by 2015 represents a key milestone toward
             dramatically reducing dependence on oil and ensuring that
             America leads in the growing electric vehicle manufacturing
             industry. Although the goal is ambitious, key steps already taken
             and further steps proposed indicate the goal is achievable. Indeed,
             leading vehicle manufacturers already have plans for cumulative
             U.S. production capacity of more than 1.2 million electric vehicles
             by 2015, according to public announcements and news reports.

Speaking at a forum on green technology on Monday, Ford Motor Co. Chief Executive
Alan Mulally indicated battery packs for the company's Focus electric car costs
between $12,000 and $15,000 apiece. "When you move into an all-electric vehicle,
the battery size moves up to around 23 kilowatt hours, [and] it weighs around 600 to
700 pounds," Mr. Mulally said at Fortune magazine's Brainstorm Green conference in
California. Ford is currently promoting its $39,200 Focus EV at events around the
country. It has a 23 kilowatt-hour battery pack. "So, you can see why the economics
are what they are."

             Our analysis indicates that the price of a complete
             automotive lithium-ion battery pack could fall from $500 to
             $600 per kilowatt hour (kWh) today to about $200 per kWh
             by 2020 and to about $160 per kWh by 2025. In the United
             States, with gasoline prices at or above $3.50 a gallon,
             automakers that acquire batteries at prices below $250 per
             kWh could offer electrified vehicles competitively, on a
             total-cost-of-ownership basis, with vehicles powered by
             advanced internal-combustion engines .

                                    Opportunity
        Ontario’s Green Energy Act is making it easier for people and
        organizations to develop renewable energy projects. New processes
        and programs are helping Ontario become a North American leader in
        attracting clean energy projects with a Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program
        that guarantees specific rates for energy generated from renewable
        sources. Ontario’s FIT rates for roof-mounted solar electric projects not
        greater than 500kW is 53.9 to 54.9 cents per kWh guaranteed for 20
        years from project commercial operation date (COD).

Electrification of Transportation Part of the Solution President Obama’s goal of putting one million electric vehicles [EVs] on the road by 2015 represents a key milestone toward dramatically reducing dependence on oil and ensuring that America leads in the growing electric vehicle manufacturing industry. Although the goal is ambitious, key steps already taken and further steps proposed indicate the goal is achievable.   • 10. Electrification of Transportation Challenge Speaking at a forum on green technology on Monday, Ford Motor Co. Chief Executive Alan Mulally indicated battery packs for the company's Focus electric car costs between $12,000 and $15,000 apiece. "When you move into an all-electric vehicle, the battery size moves up to around 23 kilowatt hours, [and] it weighs around 600 to 700 pounds," Mr. Mulally said at Fortune magazine's Brainstorm Green conference in California. Ford is currently promoting its $39,200 Focus EV at events around the country. It has a 23 kilowatt-hour battery pack. "So, you can see why the economics are what they are." New processes and programs are helping Ontario become a North American leader in attracting clean energy projects with a Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program that guarantees specific rates for energy generated from renewable sources. Ontario’s FIT rates for roof-mounted solar electric projects not greater than 500kW is 53.9 to 54.9 cents per kWh guaranteed for 20 years from project commercial operation date (COD).
