Sun Allergy – How to thrive outside with a sun allergy
A sun allergy can quickly ruin your day. This affection causes your skin to become
irritated and red after only moments in the sun. It is important to find out if you are
allergic to the sun or have simply been overexposed. By learning more about sun
allergy rashes and symptoms, you will be able to prevent and treat any complications
while enjoying the great outdoors.
Do you have a sun allergy?
One of the most common reactions to the sun is irritated skin. We all can get
sunburns and rashes from being the sun too long, but the rashes from an allergy are
somewhat different. Rashes may appear after only a few moments in the sun,
whereas a normal burn won’t appear until much later. If you are in the sun for only a
few moments and quickly develop a rash, then you may have an allergic reaction to
the sun.
A sun allergy rash will appear slightly different than a typical sunburn. A sun rash will
often feel scratchy before being visually apparent. It may go from scratchy to painful
in a matter of hours or moments depending upon the severity of your allergy. It will
also be a bright pinkish red, whereas a sunburn is often darker in color and appears
much later after the initial exposure.
If you do find yourself increasingly allergic to the sun, then you should take the
proper precautions in order to avoid permanent damage. Get a high SPF sunscreen
and apply it liberally before going outside. Avoid tanning and certainly avoid exposing
areas for a long period of time. You should also invest in a nice pair of sunglasses in
order to avoid further damage.
How to take care of your irritated skin
If you find your skin irritated and red, then follow these simple steps in order to heal
and prevent further discomfort. It is important to act as soon as possible, otherwise
you run the risk of scarring and increasing your allergic reaction in the future.
Have some aloe vera near you at all times. Leave some in the fridge at home and
have a smaller bottle in your car. If you feel a rash coming, then apply the aloe vera
onto the affected areas while quickly moving to the shade.
Avoid the sun while the lotion soothes the skin. This will help to avoid further irritation
and redness. It is best to use a natural aloe vera product as these often contain
higher amounts of beneficial oils and minerals.
Once you are out of the sun, you can apply cocoa butter to help further soother your
burns. This butter is very cooling and helps to speed the recovery time. Add some
drops of vitamin E in order to help reduce swelling and the risk of scarring.
You can also heal itchy skin with many items found around the house. Use warm
oatmeal as an alternative way to deal with sun allergies. If the redness persists, add
some pure lemon juice to the affected area. Lemon juice helps to lightly bleach the
skin which reduces swelling and scarring.
Prevent skin allergies and infections
Now that you’ve treated your burns and rashes, it
is important to properly prevent them from
occurring again.
Failing this, you will increase the chance of
scarring and other more serious problems in the
future. Take care of your skin now, and you will
be able to lead a healthy life in the sun.
One of the most important things to do if you
have are allergic to the sun is to limit your time
outdoors. Try not to go outside during high noon; instead, use the early morning and
evening to your advantage. The sun is strongest in the middle of the day, so time
your activities when it is rising or setting to avoid overexposure.
When you do go outside, try and cover potentially affected areas. Wear sleeves and
a hat to aid in your protection. You should also wear a strong sunscreen at all times.
Get a waterproof and high-SPF cream in order to properly protect your skin.
When you are outside, make sure to always have a shady area close should you
need rest. Don’t spend hours in the sun without a break; allow yourself some rest in
the shade in order to prevent overheating and irritation.
If you start to notice sun allergy symptoms, then get the shade immediately and have
some cold water to cool your body. Apply some aloe vera and wait until the irritation
subsides.
If your symptoms of sun poisoning persist, check with your doctor to ensure that
nothing else is wrong. Sun allergy symptoms may stem from a related and treatable
problem, so consult with a doctor to stay safe.
By following these tips, you will be able to overcome your sun allergy and enjoy the
great outdoors once again.

  • 1. Sun Allergy Sun Allergy – How to thrive outside with a sun allergy A sun allergy can quickly ruin your day. This affection causes your skin to become irritated and red after only moments in the sun. It is important to find out if you are allergic to the sun or have simply been overexposed. It is important to act as soon as possible, otherwise you run the risk of scarring and increasing your allergic reaction in the future. Have some aloe vera near you at all times. Leave some in the fridge at home and have a smaller bottle in your car. If you feel a rash coming, then apply the aloe vera onto the affected areas while quickly moving to the shade. Avoid the sun while the lotion soothes the skin. This will help to avoid further irritation and redness. It is best to use a natural aloe vera product as these often contain higher amounts of beneficial oils and minerals. Once you are out of the sun, you can apply cocoa butter to help further soother your burns. This butter is very cooling and helps to speed the recovery time. Add some drops of vitamin E in order to help reduce swelling and the risk of scarring. You can also heal itchy skin with many items found around the house. Use warm oatmeal as an alternative way to deal with sun allergies. If the redness persists, add some pure lemon juice to the affected area. Lemon juice helps to lightly bleach the skin which reduces swelling and scarring. Prevent skin allergies and infections Now that you’ve treated your burns and rashes, it is important to properly prevent them from occurring again. Failing this, you will increase the chance of scarring and other more serious problems in the future. Take care of your skin now, and you will be able to lead a healthy life in the sun. If you start to notice sun allergy symptoms, then get the shade immediately and have some cold water to cool your body. Apply some aloe vera and wait until the irritation subsides.
