1. Summary and Career Goals
Brief Summary of Career Experience:
While working as a Clinical Director/Counsellor, I have acquired many skills as well as
personal//Leadership qualities that are extremely useful in a Human Services Counselling and
Addiction field. My mission in life is to be of service to anyone who wishes to transform their
lives to a more positive, productive and empowering lifestyle. I maintain a high level of
professionalism, confidentiality and excellent communication skills and problem resolution
abilities. This experience allows to me work well as a team as I am able to communicate well to
others and also listen and take direction. I am proactive, creative, highly motivated, personable,
have very good people relationship building, interviewing, listening, detail-oriented, program
development, knowledge of alcohol and drug abuse education and prevention and facilitation
skills which is vital as a Human Services provider. I am an experience Professional Certified
Addiction Counsellor with the Canadian Council of Professional Certification. My general duties
included operations of Treatment facility, Corresponding with all levels of Government and
Community representatives, Staff supervision, Staff scheduling, evaluation, reporting to the
NADACA Board of Directors, assessment of potential clients; supervision of in-house activities
and clients of the Recovery House, completing hourly house/security checks, maintaining client
case files; case management; making all necessary referrals as required; administer medication
and document in a medicine and general log book, facilitate various meetings; one-to-one
counselling and group sessions; assist in the conduct of therapy; assist in the development of
long term strategies; assist in recreation; Cultural/Traditional/ activities and programs, Program.
Achievements, include a successful 3 year accreditation with the Canadian Accreditation Council
for the treatment facility and designed, developed and delivered an Aboriginal Women’s
Treatment Program. I am a life -long learner, who strives to see the best in all persons regardless
of their circumstances, and am a teacher who knowledgeable in the Indigenous Culture and
holistic healings.
Goals for the Near Future:
My career goals for the future involve a few different aspects. I would love to continue working
as an addiction counsellor and in the future work as an owner/operator of a Diverse Holistic
Healing Lodge/ Retreat for persons with alcohol and substance issues who wish to transform
their lives. I am presently upgrading my skills in the Human Services Counselling field. I am a
family person who cares wholeheartedly and enjoys helping people, and volunteering.
