West Jefferson High School has a Student of the Week program to recognize students who exemplify positive behaviors. Teachers can nominate up to two students per week by submitting their names and grades online. The nomination criteria focuses on whether students are there, understand their purpose, choose the right attitude, and succeed. The names are then reviewed by a committee who selects two students from each grade level to be honored. Teachers receive certificates to present to the selected students each Tuesday to recognize their efforts. Nominations are due each Friday with the recognition cycle repeating weekly.
