NOSQL Meets Relational - The MySQL Ecosystem Gains More FlexibilityIvan Zoratti
Colin Charles gave a presentation comparing SQL and NoSQL databases. He discussed why organizations adopt NoSQL databases like MongoDB for large, unstructured datasets and rapid development. However, he argued that MySQL can also handle these workloads through features like dynamic columns, memcached integration, and JSON support. MySQL addresses limitations around high availability, scalability, and schema flexibility through tools and plugins that provide sharding, replication, load balancing, and online schema changes. In the end, MySQL with the right tools is capable of fulfilling both transactional and NoSQL-style workloads.

It positions DeepDB as a drop-in replacement for InnoDB that can scale MySQL to support billions of rows and queries 2x faster while reducing data footprint by 50%.
SortaSQL is a proposal to add seamless horizontal scalability to SQL databases by using the filesystem to store and retrieve data. The SQL database would store metadata and handle queries, while an embedded key-value store manages record storage on files in the local or distributed filesystem. This allows queries to scale across many servers by letting the filesystem handle replication, performance and locking of distributed data files. The architecture involves an application communicating with PostgreSQL over SQL, which uses a SortaSQL plugin to retrieve rows from Kyoto Cabinet key-value files on the POSIX filesystem. Case studies at CloudFlare show how a 400GB per day dataset can be efficiently stored and queried at scale using this approach.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

CSQL Introduction
Open Source Main Memory Database
Small Footprint (< 1 MB)
Embedded architecture
High performance (100K selects/sec, 50K writes/sec)
Highly concurrent
Implemented in C++
Middle tier caching for any DRDB
Platform - Linux (soon on Solaris)
6. Lakshya Solutions
MMDB is better than DRDB
Hardware trend:
CPU speed, memory & Disk capacity grows 80%/yr
Memory performance grows 10%/yr
Disk speed remains same
Price of memory continues to drop
•Access time for main memory is orders of magnitude less than
that of disk. (100ns VS 10 ms)
•Application queries require random access most of the
time(point lookups)
•Data resides permanently on main memory. No disk I/Os
•No buffer manager overhead
•Data Structures and algorithms are designed for memory
access rather than disk access
7. Lakshya Solutions
CSQL is faster
Performance: Developed from scratch keeping one thing in
mind- performance.
Direct access to data: uses shared memory architecture
User Level Mutexes: Hand written using atomic instructions
Custom Allocators : Fixed and Variable Size Allocators
Zero disk I/O: No redo logs, checkpoint
Embedded Architecture: No network overhead, no data copies
Tightly coupled: code segments which are performance
critical are tightly coupled to avoid data copies
