Editor's Notes
Children are at the centre of learning – the NZ curriculum places children at the centre of learningChildren share what they are learning and what they need to continue working on – are able to discuss their learning in their own words / plain languageChildren take ownership of their learning and are active participants– parent teacher interviews left one of the important participants – children – three way conferences provided a very limited snapshot of learning that the children shared
Parents and children can be in the classroom for 30 minutesChildren will share a range of curriculum areas – previously we only had time for one curriculum area – teachers were passive while the children shared – children will share their writing, reader, from the walls, maths games, art, work they have put in their e-portfoliosTeachers will answer questions from the mid year report and discuss progressThree families in the room with one family talking to the teacher at a time
