The greatest obstacle I have had to overcome was facing failure. I have been in student council and
leadership roles during every school year since 4th grade. So during freshman year of high school I
was a student council officer and a member of the leadership class. It was obvious that I would
continue in doing what I was good at by applying for the student council officer class as a
sophomore. I went through the difficult process of campaigning and following all of the very strict
campaign rules that had been set on those applying, even though others did not. I'm a very
competitive person so I was determined to secure one of the eight spots in the class. Since I won
every other thing I had ever tried out for I had assumed this would be the same. After all I had all of
the classifications; good grades, never been suspended or had detention,a history with student
council, and I even gave people candy with a campaign slogan on them to get people to vote for me.

I spent sixty hours preparing for my campaign, planning out videos, posters, and strategies.

Participating in student council has impacted my life extremely. Running in seventh grade was the
best spur impulse decision I have made. I wasn't certain I wanted to run because of previous losses
in fifth and sixth grade and how heavyhearted those losses made me. I'm so glad I ended up running.
I got interested in student council in fourth grade when I was my closest friends campaign manager
when she had run, which kind of sounds frivolous in fourth grade. Even though I was pretty bashful

On April 26, 2017 I was made eighth grade secretary. Last year Mrs. Trimble, our advisor, just had

I have exemplified advancing the academic excellence of my community with both my executive
position within Council of Black Students in Administration and my participation in College
Mentors for Kids. Council of Black Students in Administration is a Fisher organization geared

When the annual election took place, I always made a point in my speeches to welcome the thrilling

My Personal Essay for Student Council
I would like to apply to be a member of the Student Council Executive Board. The board has many
attributes that interest me such as leadership, community service, and planning student activities. If I
was put on the Executive Board I would be able to help by giving creative ideas, setting a good role

Every year my troop participates in the cardboard campout in the walmart parking lot. This project

During high school, you either become a member of a club or an athlete. In my case, I decided to be
part of Student Council so I could be more involved in school activities. All of the student council
members were required to run for a leadership position, from president to historian. When senior

Becoming Student Council President
My school is a very small school with grades 6 through 12, under 400 students. This year, the Junior
High decided not to have a student council, so High School stepped up and took charge of all things
spirit. I have always liked helping in student council. I have been a member all of my high school
career, but this year I decided to help take charge and put my best effort into making the whole
