Student Council Failure
The greatest obstacle I have had to overcome was facing failure. I have been in student council and
leadership roles during every school year since 4th grade. So during freshman year of high school I
was a student council officer and a member of the leadership class. It was obvious that I would
continue in doing what I was good at by applying for the student council officer class as a
sophomore. I went through the difficult process of campaigning and following all of the very strict
campaign rules that had been set on those applying, even though others did not. I'm a very
competitive person so I was determined to secure one of the eight spots in the class. Since I won
every other thing I had ever tried out for I had assumed this would be the same. After all I had all of
the classifications; good grades, never been suspended or had detention,a history with student
council, and I even gave people candy with a campaign slogan on them to get people to vote for me.
The day of the announcement I was so excited. I remember having that strange feeling in the pit of
your stomach which is sometimes a good sign and sometimes a bad sign. As my teacher (whom I'd
never really trusted,) read off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea that maybe one day I will be able to use this failure to relate to others and help them
overcome their failures is what has kept me going through difficult times. In the end, losing the
election was a blessing in disguise. The amount of pressure on student council officers, particularly
the sophomores is way too stressful for me. I'm now in a lower level leadership and I'm rather
content there. I've faced many challenges, but they all seemed easier to face knowing one day my
failure would lead me to something greater. I've struggled with self doubt and regret but if I just
keep it close to my heart that while I'm deep in the struggle it will be difficult but sometime in the
future I will look back and say that this has made me a better

The most important thing that Student Council does in our school, is that it allows students to be
able to use their gifts they have to help better our school in so many different ways.
Student Council as a whole, need to improve the way the advertising is done. Everything that is
done is so well thought out, but not advertised enough to make is stand out. By thinking of better
ways to get these ideas out there, can help the whole school's spirit.
Student Council can help limit these behaviors by giving those students, who are under pressure,
somewhere and someone to talk to about it. Teachers and other supervises can, for some students be
very intimidating, so by giving these students other students to talk to can help take that pressure
away. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This boy has had a tough life. He wasn't supposed to be able and walk and talk. It is a miracle that
he does both. I am able to help the parents out by watching him during church by helping him learn
more. Also this past year, I have been able to help my aunt of with her shop. She started out just
selling her pieces on an online website to having a boutique locally. It has been a blessing seeing
how well the business has been doing.
The biggest goal I have in front of me right now is very large. I have been really thinking about what
I want to do after high school. My goal is to be very successful in whatever I do. The job I have now
has really opened my eyes to how successful I can be if I just put my mind to it.
Some hobbies I enjoy doing include, going to work after school, hanging out with my friends, go to
youth group to see friends I don't see everyday, volunteering at my church, and playing volleyball. I
really enjoy going to work because I allows me to see what life is like when you aren't in

Throughout my time in high school, I have been involved in numerous extracurricular activities. I
have been involved in band, choir, golf, speech, theater, Student Council, quiz bowl, and National
Honor Society. Though my participation in all of these, I have learned where my skills and interests
are strongest.
By being able to lead others, I have learned that I would like to become a teacher. Working with
different ages has helped me to decide that I would like to teach middle school. Participating in
theater helped me to realize that I would like to teach stories to students, so I should teach English
and Language Arts. Student Council helped me to realize my desire to lead others and help them

Why I Should Be Considered For Student Council
I should be considered for the Student Council because I feel that this is a great opportunity, I put a
lot of effort in school, and I show great character. I also show great scholarship and leadership. I feel
that this is a great opportunity because it gives me something to look back on when I'm older of how
I did good in school. It also is great to put on college applications when older. Being accepted onto
the student council would be an honor because I love participating and joining clubs and events for
school. I put tremendous effort into school by joining clubs such as Executive Counsel, Newspaper
Club, and Choir. I try to keep my grade point average 90 and above to participate in such honorary
things like this and to

have learned from it is the importance of communication. There have been a lot of times where I
have an idea in my head, but I didn't communicate it very well. Therefore, problems arise and I have
to deal with them. I have also learned how much fun it is to work with people, and get something

A Career As A Student Council (GPA)
Throughout high school, I have always been involved in numerous clubs and organizations;
however, I never took the initiative to be a leader in any activity until my senior year. It wasn't that I
lacked the motivation or the drive to be a leader, nor was it that I repulsed obligations or
responsibilities. It was simply a matter of chance. Unfortunately, I would run for positions in clubs
but I would never get elected– Vice President for the National Honors Society and Vice President for
Student Council to be exact– causing me to question myself and my character. As senior year
approached, my list of responsibilities became more extensive– college applications, maintaining
my high GPA, applying for scholarships, and graduation. To add to this, I decided to become part of

Student Council Letters
"Dear mom and dad, camp is the worst, I am not coming back next year". This is an excerpt of a
letter I wrote back to my family from camp. I was a dependent, scared eight–year–old at the time.
One of my first memories about camp was my dad pulling the car over so I could vomit because of
the nerves, I repeatedly asked them to not send me to camp right in front of what seemed to me as
the gates of hell. I felt alone, I didn't know anyone and I didn't know what sleep away camp would
be like. After those two horrid weeks at an unfamiliar place I learned a lot about myself and
continue to do so. Three years later I took a leap of faith and returned to that scary place I once
hated, summer camp.
One thing I could have obtained through my experience at camp was to not step out of my comfort
zone, but I didn't. Two years later I entered middle school, a completely new atmosphere with
completely new people, similar to that of camp. I was given a chance to start over and I didn't want
one experience to steer me away of many oppurtunities. My first year I gathered the courage to run
for student council. I had to compose a speech on why I am the best candidate, public speaking was
not my forte. Regardless, I practiced my speech over and over ... Show more content on

stopping me now? With hesitation, I told my parents I wanted to go to summer camp. When they
asked if I was sure, I replied "I'm positive", even though I didn't truly believe my myself. They
agreed to let me have a second try, and I rode the bus for six hours from Houston to Arkansas. Many
thoughts bounced around in my head on that bus ride and I was having some regrets, but when the
bus arrived I felt comfortable, I was overwhelmed with euphoria. "Dear mom and dad, camp is

Chandler Burrows Leadership and Change: My Time in the Student Council Sometimes, the
changes that are for the best are those that have the least support. When it comes to the Rolla
Student Council this was more true than ever. For many years the events sponsored by the student
council were strictly limited to two homecoming dances. It was deemed impossible to add more
events to the calendar. It was argued that it would take up too much of the student body time, or that
the school's administration wouldn't allow it. I, however disagreed. I believed that it was entirely
possible. In my mind it would be having an event every other month would be perfect respobable,
and would increase the sense of community felt by the student body. As a freshman, I decided to run

It takes more than words and ideas to put lasting positive change in place, it takes action.
Throughout the summer, I kept in contact with the school's administration, and before the first week
of school was over, a back to school dance was scheduled. Even though scheduling, and setting up
the dance required a lot of work, I was proud that I could do something that everyone in the school
could enjoy. As of today the reforms I made to the student council are in full swing. The year is not
half over a year, and there has already been twice as many events as in previous full years. Not only
that, but things that were unthinkable in the past, such as free admission for most students, have
been achieved. Now we come to the most important lesson I think I have ever learned. That real
change is possible. Not only in a school setting, but in our homes, and our government. Togethar,
through our combined efforts and abilities, we can come together and change our society for the
better. The forces of stasis and ossification may seem eternal, but all it takes is one moment where
everyone comes together for us to achieve postive and worthwhile

first words ever spoken by our school's Student Diversity Council. But when we first met as a brand

preparing and presenting a 25–minute showcase of ourselves and our experiences to the entire staff–

At the end of grade 10, the student council advisors recruited me to lead the public relations
executive committee. As head of the committee, I was in charge of planning, scripting, filming,
directing, and editing all videos for announcements, and assemblies. I also started a student council
YouTube channel and a made a Snapchat to use a variety of methods to connect with students.
I also helped and lead events such as assemblies, pep rallies, semi–formals, and a hockey
tournament. For these events I would help, plan, set up, run, and clean up. I wanted every

Unfortunately, being the only girl running made me a target. Students became passionate about their
candidate of choice and became impudent. They tore down my posters, said rude things, and did
everything they could to challenge me. I never thought about quitting, I knew that it was just an
obstacle that I had to face. I was confident in my intentions and I knew that I would have supporters.
I lost by a couple votes. Despite losing the election, I stayed on student council and continued my
role as head of public relations.
What I have learned about leadership is it does not require a title to be a leader. Being a leader is
being the person who people turn to when they need help or the person they go to when they need
reassurance. Being a leader is being a person who can encounter a challenge and not let obstacles
stop them. As a leader, I need to be a role model for others and show others that I can be a person
they can turn to. Most importantly, being a leader means you never give up, even when everyone is

Student Council must keep in mind the best interest of the students' education and well being with
regards to school life. Student Council should be the "voice" of the students by relaying the interests
and concerns of the student body to faculty. They can create open communication between students
and faculty. By relaying students concerns they can make sure the students questions and issues are
addressed. By relaying interests of the students they can help make students' experience at Villa the
best possible and have their ideas heard. 5. What makes you a great student leader? I am a great

United Kingdom Council For International Student Affairs
"The teaching and learning methods which are unique to universities in the UK constitute the
greatest obstacle facing international students. Discuss."
The last two decades have seen a growing trend towards the number of international students who
have chosen the UK as their studying destination. According to United Kingdom Council for
International Student Affairs, the enrolment of overseas students into the UK universities rose by
21% in 2010. Under this circumstance, the issues that face the international candidates during
studying their disciplines increase, not only because language barrier but also many factors
including different teaching and learning methods from their countries. This essay begins by
discussing the main obstacle, English as a second language, which is relevant to studying abroad. It
will then go on discussing other obstacles such as, academic skills and plagiarism, which
international students might face during their degree.
One of the greatest challenges that face students in their degree is the language barrier, which many
students feel less confident to speak, read, listen and write in a language that is different from their
mother tongue. One possible implication of this is that students who have week academic English
abilities and skills that could affect negatively on their proficiency, performance and accuracy. Even

Personal Narrative: Joining A Student Council
Joining student council was the most instrumental event to have occurred in my lifetime. Upon
entering council, the griffin, our class mascot, has become an iconic symbol for me, and just being a
part of the griffin council has been a life–changing experience. Just by looking at my character, there
were drastic changes after the occurrence of this pinnacle moment in time. Beginning freshman year,
I was just me; Zachary Higa, the self–deprecating, demure Asian nerd, walked around the school
with his head hung low. Hiding in my undisclosed haven, no one noticed me. I was a phantom
imperceptible to the human eye. This was the way I constantly endured life, and yet, buried inside
me was a soul searching for some light at the end of the tunnel. Concealing myself among the
thousands of kids in our school was simple, but it got lonely. Trapped underground, I was wailing
for help, but nobody came. Little did I know that this would all change soon enough. "Would you

the horizons. The story of student council is a flashbulb memory that led to an astonishing

In my past few years at SFA, my on campus involvement has been minimal. The demanding

asked me if I wanted to go to a student council meeting with her, and I thought, why not? To be
completely honest, I thought that I'd just go to a meeting or two here and there, just get bored with it

in fifth and sixth grade and how heavyhearted those losses made me. I'm so glad I ended up running.
I got interested in student council in fourth grade when I was my closest friends campaign manager
when she had run, which kind of sounds frivolous in fourth grade. Even though I was pretty bashful
and reserved as a little kid, once I got in middle school, I was ready to finally take a vast step into
becoming myself, which for me was being in the student council. In seventh grade I was a candidate
for Team Cougar Representative. The two weeks we had to campaign were the longest two weeks of
my life. I worked so hard making posters and trying to impress everyone to get the maximum
amount of votes. I ran against several sweet girls and close friends, which was very stressful and
emotional for me. Even though I had fears of losing, I didn't let anything stop me. While I
endeavored this new goal, I realized all the love and support I receive from my family and friends
and it's because of their encouragement that I am where I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On April 26, 2017 I was made eighth grade secretary. Last year Mrs. Trimble, our advisor, just had
us in her advisory. Thirty minutes a week to organize immense school functions for a little over one–
thousand students wasn't enough time, imagine that. This year we have student council as an
elective class, so we are allowed more time to do what we need to. This is extremely nice because
we have a lot to do as a board. Student council positions in high school can open up opportunities to
apply for scholarships and prepare you for future jobs. Soon enough, I'll start thinking about those
possibilities, but all the worry is worth

Becoming A Member/Officer Of Student Council
Being a leader, someone who other people can look up too, being someone's inspiration and being
the student's voice is what student council means to me. I am applying to become a member/officer
of student council because I know that I can make a positive difference and impact in our school. I
am responsible and sensible enough to know what's right and what's wrong. I want to be In student
council because I want to make our school a better and more enjoyable place, to help and listen to
my peers opinions and problems and generally get involved. I would like to become a great leader,
gain useful experience and give back to the school. I believe that I can benefit from student council
as much as student council benefits from me. Making a difference

Council Of Black Students: A Case Study
I have exemplified advancing the academic excellence of my community with both my executive
position within Council of Black Students in Administration and my participation in College
Mentors for Kids. Council of Black Students in Administration is a Fisher organization geared
toward the professional development of African–Americans students. We execute this goal by
hosting companies to present about topics that every young professional will need as they begin to
enter the workplace, such as resume building and elevator pitches. As Director of Membership, it is
my responsibility to bring African American students together and make them aware of not only
professional opportunities, but also the academic opportunities that Fisher has to offer.

I attended a hearing on your behalf in the above–referenced matter before Judge Whispell in the
permanency part in New Windsor, New York on 06/29/17. The claimant was present and was
represented by attorney Mark Simoni who was appearing of counsel to the claimant's attorney of

my office contacted him to ask if they needed any assistance in rescheduling the deposition of Dr.
Tucker. The case was on for the testimony of the claimant on loss of wage earning capacity and I
was prepared to cross–examine the claimant on that issue. The claimant is 61 years old which under
Board Panels Decision is neither an aggravating nor a mitigating factor. She has a high school

When I was younger, I was involved in numerous homecomings, elections, basketball and football

at Minico helping decorate hallways and other Student Council activities. I looked up to and
admired those members of Student Council and I knew that representing Minico in Student Council

My Goals For Student Council
As a student finishing out middle school and entering high school, I had many ambitions for my
future life. I wanted to become a student leader, and, as I went through my freshman year, I wanted
to be involved in Student Council through the Central Minnesota Association of Student Councils
(CMASC). Despite these ambitions, I had two major hurdles that I had to get over in order to reach
these goals: my shyness and my fear of public speaking. In order to achieve my goals for Student
Council, I would have to campaign, get to know others, and speak in front of a large group of them.
However, these activities fell far outside of my comfort zone, and it would take a lot of work to be
able to do these things. In order to encourage myself to overcome these two fears, I decided that I
would continue to pursue my ambition without even considering that I had my reservations. My
friends in the council ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I was wondering whether it would be crazy to run as a sophomore, for the first time, I did
not question my abilities. After some considerable thought and talking with my family, I decided to
chase after this office as well. This time around, I was able to campaign for myself without any fear
or reservation, and successfully delivered my speech to an audience of about 400 delegates.
Although I did not win this election as a sophomore, it put me on track to become President as a
junior and proved that I am capable of overcoming my fears and achieving success. Now, as a
senior, I speak on a regular basis in front of other student councils at conventions across Minnesota
and have found it enjoyable to meet new people and learn more about them. These skills will be
very useful when I enter college as one of many students from across the United States, and will
allow me to make connections that will last a

When the annual election took place, I always made a point in my speeches to welcome the thrilling
challenge of speaking on behalf of my class to voice their interests and opinions. Therefore, I would
have the opportunity to make positive changes for my peers. Student council defined me, became
my devotion, and enabled me to assume responsibility for my school community. My student
government position was nothing short of fulfilling, but after freshman year, it became almost
methodical.
Organizing events and fundraisers, discussing concerns with the administration, and simply
knowing anything related to school matters were tasks that I looked forward to. However, those
duties evolved into a comfortable routine with no outlet for growth. The freshman me sought to be
exposed to everything that the high school experience had to offer. For some reason, I was obsessed

Dear Senator Durbin, On August 1, 2001 you proposed the DREAM Act before the Senate. This act

My Personal Essay for Student Council
I would like to apply to be a member of the Student Council Executive Board. The board has many
attributes that interest me such as leadership, community service, and planning student activities. If I
was put on the Executive Board I would be able to help by giving creative ideas, setting a good role
model, and helping with any community service. I know about the projects that Student Council
already does such as the blood drive and the Thanksgiving baskets, but I have some of my own ideas
that I would be willing to suggest on the Executive Board. Next year I hope to participate in the
Math Team, theatre, Link Crew, National Honor Society, A Capella and New Score Singers. I am
now holding a job at Arby's which I believe shows my responsibility. This coming year I hope to be
apart of the executive board, because I have been a seminar representative for the past two years.
Outside of school I participated in Boy Scouts of America. I was the patrol leader of my troop,

What It Means To Be In A Student Council
What does it mean to be in the student council? It means to be able to be a voice for the students, to
be able to pull off organizations for the school, and be socially aware in the school. Here are a few
examples I am addressing in this paper. To be in the student council, you need to be able to listen to
what the students want and make compromises. If a student has an idea then you should listen to it
and see if it is an appropriate idea for school. If it is a good idea, you need to be able to convince the
other members of the students council, and the staff members of the school, that it is a good idea that
will, not only help but improve to school. You need to be able to voice the students of their needs
and not only help them, but be able to help everyone in the school. Another example is ... Show

You need to be able to see what the students are interested in and see what would make them more
social into the events that you will later plan in the future. You need to be able to understand why
they liked it and if it's inappropriate thing to show at school events. You need to be able to make the
event fun, and creative yet appropriate for everyone including parents and teachers. You want to
meet the standards of the students expectations of the event or even just anything in general for the
student Council to be more appealing to the students and make them or intrigued into what you plan
for them to do throughout the school year. These are just a few examples of what I think is the
importance of being in the student council. There are a lot more other things than just this, but these
are some of the ones that I think would be important to know when doing the student council. I
hope, that if I get in, that this would be able to help students better understand what we would want
to do for them and let them be somewhat

During high school, you either become a member of a club or an athlete. In my case, I decided to be
part of Student Council so I could be more involved in school activities. All of the student council
members were required to run for a leadership position, from president to historian. When senior
year came, I knew I wanted to run for a competitive and very important position. And that's exactly
what happened I decided to run for senior class president, but I never expected such an outcome.
The day came when we had to announce the position we were running for. I went up to the teacher's
desk, and wrote my name under the senior class president list. When I found out my opponents, I
started to ask and wonder if I was really up to the challenge.

Student Council Research Paper
In student council there have been many accounts where adults have undervalued students/teens
ability and responsibility. Those people are WRONG!. On many occasions like at the student
council, state conference in Madison, adults don't trust teens because we roam freely around the
capitol. This same thing happens at the Kalahari waterpark in the dells. They look at teens as if
they're a lesser species, even though they are all humans. In addition, many stories about how teens
do unwise things and make bad choices. Now people immediately think that all teens are like this.
People of all age groups make bad choices and do dumb things. But for some reason teens stand.

think about the bad things teens do they think about things such as drugs, smoking, dropping out of
school, and teen pregnancy. Less than 10% of teens are engaging in all four of these activities. It is
important to realize the 90% of teens that are not doing any of the four. There will never be 100%
clarity with teens in all of these four areas, that just how it is. Lets focus on the 90% or the
36,000,000 teens that are doing the right thing with their lives. What is revealed here is that most
teens are responsible and caring. And so it becomes even more clear that teens are the future so
people should respect them. Teens, When you're in public represent your best self to show people
that teens are not self centered delinquents. If you're not an adult, view teens as more than the
typical stereotype. If you see a teen to something as little as helping someone pick up their dropped

career, but this year I decided to help take charge and put my best effort into making the whole
school a more spirited place by becoming Student Council President.
Before, we used to play the same few games every once in a while and we'd forget to plan rallies. If
ideas were discussed, they never materialized. This year, we now have a rally schedule, new games
and ideas for the rallies; class competitions every other week, and new spirit sticks.

believe we could go even further with our efforts of contribution to give a voice to our fellow
students. There is always room for improvement, and I'm sure I could help make it happen. This
year, and for those to come if I'm elected, I would like to see the student council body round out and
polish it's relationships as a whole. We could do more fundraisers within the school and
plan/participate in events outside of school, like walks for the disabled/needy or organize friendly
competitions like school wide scavenger hunts between classes/clubs. I'd love to see student council
connect with the other clubs more and plan to do events coinciding with each other. There could be

Student Council Failure

  • 1. Student Council Failure The greatest obstacle I have had to overcome was facing failure. I have been in student council and leadership roles during every school year since 4th grade. So during freshman year of high school I was a student council officer and a member of the leadership class. It was obvious that I would continue in doing what I was good at by applying for the student council officer class as a sophomore. I went through the difficult process of campaigning and following all of the very strict campaign rules that had been set on those applying, even though others did not. I'm a very competitive person so I was determined to secure one of the eight spots in the class. Since I won every other thing I had ever tried out for I had assumed this would be the same. After all I had all of the classifications; good grades, never been suspended or had detention,a history with student council, and I even gave people candy with a campaign slogan on them to get people to vote for me. The day of the announcement I was so excited. I remember having that strange feeling in the pit of your stomach which is sometimes a good sign and sometimes a bad sign. As my teacher (whom I'd never really trusted,) read off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea that maybe one day I will be able to use this failure to relate to others and help them overcome their failures is what has kept me going through difficult times. In the end, losing the election was a blessing in disguise. The amount of pressure on student council officers, particularly the sophomores is way too stressful for me. I'm now in a lower level leadership and I'm rather content there. I've faced many challenges, but they all seemed easier to face knowing one day my failure would lead me to something greater. I've struggled with self doubt and regret but if I just keep it close to my heart that while I'm deep in the struggle it will be difficult but sometime in the future I will look back and say that this has made me a better ... • 3. Student Council Research Paper The most important thing that Student Council does in our school, is that it allows students to be able to use their gifts they have to help better our school in so many different ways. Student Council as a whole, need to improve the way the advertising is done. Everything that is done is so well thought out, but not advertised enough to make is stand out. By thinking of better ways to get these ideas out there, can help the whole school's spirit. Student Council can help limit these behaviors by giving those students, who are under pressure, somewhere and someone to talk to about it. Teachers and other supervises can, for some students be very intimidating, so by giving these students other students to talk to can help take that pressure away. ... She started out just selling her pieces on an online website to having a boutique locally. It has been a blessing seeing how well the business has been doing. The biggest goal I have in front of me right now is very large. I have been really thinking about what I want to do after high school. My goal is to be very successful in whatever I do. The job I have now has really opened my eyes to how successful I can be if I just put my mind to it. Some hobbies I enjoy doing include, going to work after school, hanging out with my friends, go to youth group to see friends I don't see everyday, volunteering at my church, and playing volleyball. I have been involved in band, choir, golf, speech, theater, Student Council, quiz bowl, and National Honor Society. Though my participation in all of these, I have learned where my skills and interests are strongest. By being able to lead others, I have learned that I would like to become a teacher. Working with different ages has helped me to decide that I would like to teach middle school. Participating in theater helped me to realize that I would like to teach stories to students, so I should teach English and Language Arts. Why I Should Be Considered For Student Council I should be considered for the Student Council because I feel that this is a great opportunity, I put a lot of effort in school, and I show great character. I also show great scholarship and leadership. I feel that this is a great opportunity because it gives me something to look back on when I'm older of how I did good in school. It also is great to put on college applications when older. Being accepted onto the student council would be an honor because I love participating and joining clubs and events for school. I put tremendous effort into school by joining clubs such as Executive Counsel, Newspaper Club, and Choir. A Career As A Student Council (GPA) Throughout high school, I have always been involved in numerous clubs and organizations; however, I never took the initiative to be a leader in any activity until my senior year. It wasn't that I lacked the motivation or the drive to be a leader, nor was it that I repulsed obligations or responsibilities. It was simply a matter of chance. Unfortunately, I would run for positions in clubs but I would never get elected– Vice President for the National Honors Society and Vice President for Student Council to be exact– causing me to question myself and my character. • 13. Student Council Letters "Dear mom and dad, camp is the worst, I am not coming back next year". This is an excerpt of a letter I wrote back to my family from camp. I was a dependent, scared eight–year–old at the time. One of my first memories about camp was my dad pulling the car over so I could vomit because of the nerves, I repeatedly asked them to not send me to camp right in front of what seemed to me as the gates of hell. I felt alone, I didn't know anyone and I didn't know what sleep away camp would be like. After those two horrid weeks at an unfamiliar place I learned a lot about myself and continue to do so. Three years later I took a leap of faith and returned to that scary place I once hated, summer camp. One thing I could have obtained through my experience at camp was to not step out of my comfort zone, but I didn't. Two years later I entered middle school, a completely new atmosphere with completely new people, similar to that of camp. I was given a chance to start over and I didn't want one experience to steer me away of many oppurtunities. My first year I gathered the courage to run for student council. I had to compose a speech on why I am the best candidate, public speaking was not my forte. Regardless, I practiced my speech over and over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When they asked if I was sure, I replied "I'm positive", even though I didn't truly believe my myself. They agreed to let me have a second try, and I rode the bus for six hours from Houston to Arkansas. • 15. Rolla Student Council Research Paper Chandler Burrows Leadership and Change: My Time in the Student Council Sometimes, the changes that are for the best are those that have the least support. When it comes to the Rolla Student Council this was more true than ever. For many years the events sponsored by the student council were strictly limited to two homecoming dances. It was deemed impossible to add more events to the calendar. It was argued that it would take up too much of the student body time, or that the school's administration wouldn't allow it. I, however disagreed. I believed that it was entirely possible. In my mind it would be having an event every other month would be perfect respobable, and would increase the sense of community felt by the student body. As a freshman, I decided to run for the Student Council ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It takes more than words and ideas to put lasting positive change in place, it takes action. Throughout the summer, I kept in contact with the school's administration, and before the first week of school was over, a back to school dance was scheduled. Even though scheduling, and setting up the dance required a lot of work, I was proud that I could do something that everyone in the school could enjoy. As of today the reforms I made to the student council are in full swing. The year is not half over a year, and there has already been twice as many events as in previous full years. Not only that, but things that were unthinkable in the past, such as free admission for most students, have been achieved. Now we come to the most important lesson I think I have ever learned. That real change is possible. Not only in a school setting, but in our homes, and our government. Togethar, through our combined efforts and abilities, we can come together and change our society for the better. The forces of stasis and ossification may seem eternal, but all it takes is one moment where everyone comes together for us to achieve postive and worthwhile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was confident in my intentions and I knew that I would have supporters. I lost by a couple votes. Despite losing the election, I stayed on student council and continued my role as head of public relations. What I have learned about leadership is it does not require a title to be a leader. Being a leader is being the person who people turn to when they need help or the person they go to when they need reassurance. Being a leader is being a person who can encounter a challenge and not let obstacles stop them. • 27. Personal Narrative: Joining A Student Council Joining student council was the most instrumental event to have occurred in my lifetime. Upon entering council, the griffin, our class mascot, has become an iconic symbol for me, and just being a part of the griffin council has been a life–changing experience. Just by looking at my character, there were drastic changes after the occurrence of this pinnacle moment in time. Beginning freshman year, I was just me; Zachary Higa, the self–deprecating, demure Asian nerd, walked around the school with his head hung low. Hiding in my undisclosed haven, no one noticed me. I was a phantom imperceptible to the human eye. This was the way I constantly endured life, and yet, buried inside me was a soul searching for some light at the end of the tunnel. Concealing myself among the thousands of kids in our school was simple, but it got lonely. Trapped underground, I was wailing for help, but nobody came. We are planning on having our first meeting next week when we have to decide where we want to go and what fundraising we want to do by the end of the meeting. This is not going to be an easy task because the members of the student council are a very diverse group of students with different personalities. • 41. Student Council Research Paper You Can't be President if You Don't Run Last year, I was just a regular high school student. I worked hard, got good grades, tried to get a reasonable amount of sleep, all while attempting to maintain a social life. But, I didn't have much to say when someone asked me, "what else do you do?" I guess I never really thought of it. My only goal was to get good grades. Then one day, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go to a student council meeting with her, and I thought, why not? To be completely honest, I thought that I'd just go to a meeting or two here and there, just get bored with it after a while, and eventually stop showing up. I expected myself to not like it and go back to my regular, basic duties as a good student within a month. But, I was pleasantly surprised by how wrong I was. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I started going to every meeting that we had, and I actually looked forward to helping plan everything that we could do to make the school a better place. I enjoyed working behind–the–scenes of all of the events that I've been to before but never had much control over. My title was Junior Class Representative, and although it was the lowest title for the Junior class, I was proud of it. Soon enough, I was doing as much as I possibly could to help out at every meeting and event we hosted. Any time our director would ask for a volunteer to do something, especially something no one else wanted to do, I tried to make sure that my hand was the first one up. I took pride in even the smallest tasks assigned to me. At the end of the year, it was time to decide if we wanted to come back for the next year and if so, what position we wanted to run for. I was certain that I was going to be coming back for the next year. I also wanted to move up in ranking, so that I could help out even more (and, I'm not gonna lie, the 'bragging rights' that came with a higher position sounded pretty great to me). I would make one of the best participants because of the multiple abilities I can offer. My leadership abilities derive from prioritizing my numerous leadersip activities, being Student Council treasurer, Key Club Vice President, Leadership President, and a member of my Youth Council. • 45. Student Council Participating in student council has impacted my life extremely. Running in seventh grade was the best spur impulse decision I have made. I wasn't certain I wanted to run because of previous losses in fifth and sixth grade and how heavyhearted those losses made me. I'm so glad I ended up running. I got interested in student council in fourth grade when I was my closest friends campaign manager when she had run, which kind of sounds frivolous in fourth grade. Even though I was pretty bashful and reserved as a little kid, once I got in middle school, I was ready to finally take a vast step into becoming myself, which for me was being in the student council. In seventh grade I was a candidate for Team Cougar Representative. The two weeks we had to campaign were the longest two weeks of my life. I worked so hard making posters and trying to impress everyone to get the maximum amount of votes. I ran against several sweet girls and close friends, which was very stressful and emotional for me. I wanted to become a student leader, and, as I went through my freshman year, I wanted to be involved in Student Council through the Central Minnesota Association of Student Councils (CMASC). Despite these ambitions, I had two major hurdles that I had to get over in order to reach these goals: my shyness and my fear of public speaking. In order to achieve my goals for Student Council, I would have to campaign, get to know others, and speak in front of a large group of them. However, these activities fell far outside of my comfort zone, and it would take a lot of work to be able to do these things. • 65. What It Means To Be In A Student Council What does it mean to be in the student council? It means to be able to be a voice for the students, to be able to pull off organizations for the school, and be socially aware in the school. Here are a few examples I am addressing in this paper. To be in the student council, you need to be able to listen to what the students want and make compromises. If a student has an idea then you should listen to it and see if it is an appropriate idea for school. If it is a good idea, you need to be able to convince the other members of the students council, and the staff members of the school, that it is a good idea that will, not only help but improve to school. You need to be able to voice the students of their needs and not only help them, but be able to help everyone in the school. Another example is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
