 EFA & SFA merged to become ESFA
 Non DAS Apprenticeship Register postponed
 Transitional Apprenticeship Contracts for existing primes
 Levy Employer registration with SFA to use Levy at about 20%
 Employer contribution now a reality
 Mandatory training for apprentice training providers for Levy
employers
 AGE grants still due to finish in July 2017.
 AEB Paused for Election (Purdah)
 Potential Advance Learning Loan opportunity around July.
 Register of Apprentice Assessment Organisations RoAAO still
low and not all subjects covered.
 20% of standards will have a mandatory QCF
for others it may be a recommendation or
not at all

Director of Straplan Limited * Successfully motivating “change” only occurs when buy-in is absolute, and everyone is involved and accountable. Fear is overcome and there is total clarity of vision and purpose. • It is my long held belief that “Change“ is not prescribed it is evoked. • ‘Evoking change’ requires the engagement of individuals and groups through the art of conversation and questions to initiate thought and develop collaborative inclusive and owned solutions. Update  EFA & SFA merged to become ESFA  Non DAS Apprenticeship Register postponed  Transitional Apprenticeship Contracts for existing primes  Levy Employer registration with SFA to use Levy at about 20%  Employer contribution now a reality  Mandatory training for apprentice training providers for Levy employers  AGE grants still due to finish in July 2017.  AEB Paused for Election (Purdah)  Potential Advance Learning Loan opportunity around July.  Register of Apprentice Assessment Organisations RoAAO still low and not all subjects covered.  20% of standards will have a mandatory QCF for others it may be a recommendation or not at all
  • 4. Opportunities  ESF Programmes with Primes with severe shortfalls  No contract limits for Levy employers  Levy employer approved supplier lists  Advance Learning Loan Review & potential competition following the election.  Potential of Collaborative Strategic Alliances & Partnerships

Challenges  Removal of subcontracting opportunities for Advance Learning Loans  Levy-employer engagement  Employer contribution  Transitional Apprenticeship contracts  Apprenticeship Reform and the introduction of Standards  End Point Assessment  Loss of control over examination process  Associated costs of EPA from training fees  Organisation of EPA bookings  Re-test processes  Quality of learning delivery

Objective of priority 1) To build trust relationships with employers 2) To collect employer contribution 3) To leverage relationships for other programmes 4) To develop commercial business Priority 1- Employer Engagement  Proactively address Levy- employer engagement and provide consultation services for employers to maximise the levy.  Become more customer centric  Drive consultative style employer engagement  Unlock an uncapped income stream  Gain approved supplier status  Promote commercial & wider services Think like a customer

Priority 2 - Diversify  Develop a wider portfolio of services  ESF contracts  Advance Learning Loans (Post election)  E-learning platforms  Local council opportunities  Traineeships & Sector Based Work Academies  DWP Work & Health via primes  DWP Work Related Services  ATA  Apprentice Assessment Organisations Objective of priority 1) Broaden service offer 2) Reduce risk 3) Build strategic alliances

Priority 3 Create Value  Develop new more impactful programmes of learning that develop skills & knowledge that produce workplace productivity and competency.  To create value in the mind of the employer learning must deliver business impact  To meet the criteria for End Point Assessment  To raise the competency of delivery staff Objective of priority 1) To support engagement of levy employers 2) To achieve 1st time pass on EPA 3) To promote recognition as a strategic partner of choice 4) To raise the competency of delivery staff 5) To meet compliance requirements & Ofsted best practice
