This document summarizes research on the Purple People movement in Italy and their use of social networking sites. Key findings include: 1) Purple People's online structure consists of 100 Facebook pages, with 10 "strongly active" pages forming the core network. Content analysis of these pages showed they appropriate information from mainstream media and use different communication styles. 2) Purple People also uses independent news sites and moves communication from national to local issues.
