Executive Biography
David L. Strobel has been a member of the Executive Team at Carpenter Technology for 6
years, and with the Company for 33 years. Carpenter Technology is a $2.5B manufacturer and
distributor of specialty metals for industries in markets such as aerospace, medical, energy,
consumer and industrial. With his operational and technical experience, as well as extensive
knowledge of all aspects of the business, Dave is currently serving in the role of Senior Vice
President and Chief Technology Officer for the Company, with responsibility for developing and
executing a new product growth strategy for the entire product line, while also working to
enhance our Quality Systems across all of Carpenters sites. Additionally, he has also been
given responsibility for the company’s Powder divison with full P/L accountability.
Prior to this role Dave served Carpenter in the role of Senior Vice President of Global
Operations. Dave had responsibility for all manufacturing sites as well as Global Engineering,
Supply Chain Management and EH&S. With shared responsibility for the P&L, Dave worked
closely with the Comercial team to maximize Carpenter’s bottom-line profits.
Dave has been a lead team member of several large and multi-national M&A projects, including
the acqusition of Latrobe Steel in 2012. Dave had direct accountability for bringing that
Company into the family of Carpenter Operations, and drove over $35M in synergy savings over
the first two years. Dave also led the construction of Carpenter’s first international
manufacturing site in China, as well as a $540M greenfield site in Alabama. This site employs
the latest technology to better serve our Aerospace and Energy customers with reduced lead-
times and superior quality products.
