This document provides strategies for adding descriptive details and flair to writing stories. It recommends introducing background knowledge on the subject or genre before having students answer basic questions about the who, what, when, where, and why of the story structure. Students then go back and add sensory and structural details to their writing by using their five senses and words describing what, size, color, number, shape, where, when, background, movement, mood, and perspective.
